The brunette had been patient for a very long time. She had paid little mind to the clocks of others, and indeed, to the clock that was strapped around her wrist. Patience had been thrust upon her, shoved into her practically and River had grown used to waiting and plotting for things to happen. Everyday, she absently noted the clock when she awoke though as the years passed by this was now only a force of habit for her head to look at her arm and the numbers were no longer being processed. This was why meeting the girl had been something of a shock.
River was rarely shocked by anything.
The street was quiet, and no wonder, it was dark and cold and any sane person would be long gone. But there she was, and for some reason River glanced down at her arm and actually took in the numbers that were being displayed on the screen. To find that there were only seconds left was surprising, and River’s eyes widened slightly. She had known this day was going to happen but at the same time… she hadn’t. That made sense to her. It was just something that was taken for granted, something that had happened to others she knew and River hadn’t thought about finding this girl before. But there they were. Face to face.
"The clock stopped. I wasn’t sure it would." And a small smile spread on the brunettes features, her arm raising slightly to look over at the female.
Molly’s clock had been broken long ago. Her strength was fairly unnatural and her sense of adventure unrivalled by most around her. It should have been clear from the start that it would receive more knocks and bangs than it ever should. On the day it had first broken, Molly hadn’t cared. Nor did she care the second day, nor the third… Nor any other day until the time she met him.
After all, the girl was strong and could be independent if the time required it. She relied on her friends because together they could do anything, and it was always more fun to have people around - but Molly was no pushover and she knew her own mind. So why did it really matter when she’d find her soul mate? There were plenty of fun things to do before that time.
Such as going to her friends party. And God, she was running late. Despite her carefree nature, her humourous attitude towards most things and the view that she was one big kid Molly was pretty good at keeping to schedules and being organised. But today wasn’t going well at all - everything was fallen to shit. Swearing under her breath as she caught sight of a clock in a store window, Molly tore around a corner and straight into… him.
Her speed was enough to topple her, and then her weight as she grabbed his arm was enough to topple him as well. And for that, he looked utterly appalled. Nope, he wasn’t pleased by the situation and Molly was sorry for that, but…Meh. These things happened. “Sorry. Damn, I wasn’t paying attention and - hey, are you okay?” She arched a brow, looking over at him and making sure he was fine - though as she had been the only one to actually fall on the hard ground (he’d fallen onto her) perhaps this wasn’t too big a concern. “You— Oh.” That was when she noticed the clock. “You found your soulmate, huh? I don’t know many who have, y’know, it’s pretty rare amongst my friends.” Realising that she was still holding his arm, she let go and smiled at him - only to realise he was gaping at her.
It took a moment, but the smile faded from her face as what had just happened began to sink in. Her eyes flickered to her wrist and the broken watch before back to his face. “Let me guess, you ain’t seen six zeros on that thing before you ran into me, right?” She sent him a sheepish smile, trying to adjust to the situation and work out just what emotion was running through him. Molly was.. surprised. Surprised and kinda delighted in her own strange way. Hey, she hadn’t known she was looking for him, but now that he was here? Yeah. This could only be good.
I would have written ones for all of your muses! …But I have no muse for any of my other characters. Oops!
