+ Tolerant, Affectionate. - Evasive, Vindictive.
Beej is the kind of person that looks into your soul with such understanding that you feel you can tell him anything and not only will he understand, he'll accept - and usually he does. He has a mature playfulness about him that tends to draw out the introverts and calm down the extroverts, though around his sisters he finds his wild streak. Excellent at keeping secrets, particularly his own.
A R R I V A L — ( 2023 )
Moved to Aurora Bay two and a half years ago after seeking a quieter town and better area to help raise his sister's son in.

- Despite being a tattoo artist, Beej is completely clear of ink himself. Part of it has to do with some commitment issues in that realm, and part of it is because he has trouble figuring out where to start. That being said, he is heavily pierced - ears are decked out, he has a septum and the right side of his nose done, and, of course, his tongue. At one point, he had his left eyebrow done, but the piercing rejected, so he's left with a scar.
- Completely deaf in his left ear after an incident growing up. While he's not fully fluent in ASL or ISL, he's proficient in both enough to converse with minimal blocks.
- Specializes in realism, particularly in anatomical tattoos. He spent so long sketching in his anatomy classes that the ability to draw what he was studying became second nature. Most of his original designs combine anatomy and hard lines, and he works best in black/white/grayscale.
- Recently adopted a stray bloodhound who he's named Moby. Although Adi will always be his first priority when Rahi is away, Moby is a very close second; he babies this dog like a real baby.
F R E Q U E N T S T O P S —
Aurora Bay Library - Although yes, he's often headed to the library to help Adi pick out some new books, he's an avid reader himself - mostly of non-fiction. Catch him sitting in the back of children's storytime hour reading the new Jimmy Wales book all decked out in piercings.
Aurora's Candy Parlor - Beej has a crazy sweet tooth and stops by weekly to pick up a massive bag of gummy worms. A big lollipop enjoyer as well.
The Corner Store - Juggling a sweets addiction and a Red Bull addiction can be difficult, but Beej comes here every day before he heads to work to fix both. Don't mind him grabbing a pack of Zyn's at the same time - he's totally normal about his nicotine addiction.
Crescent Moon Tattoo - His place of employment and the most frequent place to find him when he's in town.
The Movie House - Another spot he likes to bring his nephew, though sometimes he'll catch a flick by himself if it interests him enough.
Rock N' Bowl - Beej is a huge roller skater. He's good, too - he spends a few hours every week just going around in circles, practicing tricks and falling into line with other regulars.
Sweet Spot Creamy - Beej loves coming by and bringing Moby along for a special treat. He often sits outside with a book and a melting bowl of chocolate ice cream (and a licked-clean bowl for Moby).

tw: suicide mention
- grew up in san diego as the second youngest of four siblings; aryan (+9 years), then archana (+3 years), then beej, then rahi (-11 months), the baby. a significant age gap between aryan and archana left an emotional gap as well - archie, beej, and rahi were always closer with each other than they every were with ari.
- beej's parents were strict, though not unloving. his father had high standards for the whole family but worked hard to help his kids learn to work hard as well. there was tension between him and ari for a long time, mostly due to the amount of pressure on aryan as the eldest to both care for his siblings and become successful enough to carry on the sachar doctorial legacy
- when beej was 10, aryan took his own life. a mix of arguments with his parents on top of self-induced pressure and a particularly bad breakup with his girlfriend lead to his failing out of college sophomore year; over the holiday break, he killed himself, leaving the whole family in mourning.
- there was a significant shift after ari passed. beej's mother became depressed in a way that would leave her bedridden and silent, which weighed on their father (and the rest of the family) heavily.
- with the weight of his brother's death hanging over the sachar's, beej was perfectly behaved growing up. the most trouble he ever caused was always with his sisters, and the three of them contained it to the house. there was a silent agreement to never put their parents through that kind of loss or grief again, which meant keeping teenage ruckus to a minimum
- although beej always expressed interest in and showed talent for art, he didn't initially pursue it. he spent his high school and undergrad years studying biology and anatomy in hopes to find a job within the medical field, though once he was nearing graduation and needing to find a medical school to continue his education, he said fuck it. he got a job as a receptionist for a general practitioner to please his parents, and when he wasn't there, he was apprenticing at a local tattoo shop
- beej and rahi have lived together since the moment she graduated college. she's an airline pilot, though that's never stopped her from living her life; in fact, it's made her a lot more adventurous. at only 24, she gave birth to a son - which, of course, gave their parents an aneurysm due to her being unmarried. eventually they came around - mostly because her kid, adi, is fucking precious.
- because rahi is always flying around, beej has become the uncle who stepped up, and cares for adi during rahi's trips.
- though san diego was perfect, rahi and beej sought somewhere quieter, though close enough to visit home when they like. aurora bay seemed perfect (and airport accessible, so they settled in seabrook quarter a few years ago

Queen - What is the breaking point for a romantic relationship with your muse?
"When communicating about the issues stops being progressive. Like, I'm not about to argue with a wall for the rest of my life, yeah? So if we're coming out of arguments at a stalemate every time I'm going to end it before the resentment picks up."
Queen - How often does your muse find themself being flirted with?
"You can't ever truly be certain, yeah? I think it happens often enough from what I can pick up on. I'm in a job where we spend a lot of time chatting, and I like to go out, so I tend to put myself in situations where flirting is the natural language. How often do I end up acting on that flirtation? Well... I try to be a gentleman about it."
Three - How faithful is your muse in a relationship?
"Incredibly. Why bother being in a relationship at all if you're not interested in solely them? I'm not going to settle down with just anyone, so if we're at the point where we're exclusive, then... we're gonna' be exclusive."
"Whoa, whoa, no need to get your pants in a wad...all I meant was, the story just sounds really far-fetched and whoever came up with it had a hell of an imagination. I'm not that evil, I'm not trying to stomp on the dreams of the children nationwide. Lord knows I was one of those kids who had to be an adult from, like, the age of five. Believe me, I could have used some more false hope in my life."
Jo couldn't outright concede to the man that if her name went out on the news or anything beyond social media (her ex was blocked) due to committing illegal activities, that Julian could potentially seek her out, so Jo just said, "I'm playing this game with myself where I don't get banned from the town I just moved to six months ago. It's boring, but I'm winning, so that makes up for it. I have the rest of my life to refine any craft I desire."
"I see, okay, so you think you could've done a better job with the whole Santa mythos, yeah? Something less creepy and more fantastical? Look, I'm not saying we can get the general public on board, but if you have some edits to Santa's story in the holster, hit me with 'em, and I'll start feeding the concepts to my nephew. We can change the world one kid at a time."
Beej tilts his head as he studies Jo. "Getting banned implies getting caught, though, yeah? Feels like you're doing a disservice to yourself to pigeon-hole your hypothetical self as being hypothetically bad enough to be spotted." A shrug - one that carries a little more mischief than it ought to. "Jus' like... I take shit from the grocery store all the time. Never get caught for slipping turmeric into my reusable bag, you know?"

Wren pursed her lips at him, huffing out a breath, "Whoever taught you how to host a movie night clearly failed, cause how do you not have drinks or chips?" She asked as she walked over to where he was and plucked up one of the cups so she could pour herself a soda, but instead of cherry Coke, she went for the cherry lime Sprite and then grabbed a bag of Cheetos and then a bag of Nerd clusters too, just in case. "You at least have a tv, right?"
Beej takes the razzing in stride, his smile hard to chase off. He puts a lid on his soda, though he doesn't pop the straw in yet - he'll drink the whole thing before they're back at his place if he's not careful.
"I'm not a chips and drinks guy. If I want a snack I'm going straight into the fridge for leftovers. No snack, all meal." In between Wren's searches, Beej pops between her, sneaking himself a bag of Takis and a bottle of sour drops. "Now, my sister? She's got hella chips. The issue is, she'd take your head off if you swiped any, so. Best to pick them up now and take heat for being a bad movie night host. A bad movie night host who yes, for sure has a TV."
Beej beelines it to the counter, and when Wren joins him, he motions for her to drop her stuff down, too.
"You're not getting in without an ID." Vladimir answered, unsure of why he was asking if he had his ID with him. "No offense, but you look like you're still in college."
Aeris spins around in the chair by the front stand with both of his palms up and turned out to Beej with wiggling fingers. "Steady hands." Add in that her skin took to the ink very well, and she didn't bleed too much, each line permanently staining the dermis.
"It also was only linework on her quad. If it was her sternum, we'd have been in some real trouble."
The iPad left in his lap is picked up so he can exit out of his current sketch to bring up the design in question, turning the colored layer off (for a later date) invisible to see what Aeris tattooed on her. The woman was younger, it was easy to get a banter going, conversation flowing back and forth through the whole thing, Mack and Beej could've probably done it all the same.
Aeris puts his iPad back down and leans forward on the display case, his arms loosely folded as he slouches over it.
"Fifty percent and a reminder that her ex-boyfriend covered the deposit before they broke up. Not pertinent information, though. I don't go after clients."
Unless his 'mingling' is the reason they walked in the door, then that's a different story.
"Can't be just steady hands. I swear, you're pulling magic tricks over there."
Beej resumes cleaning his station, though his grin remains on his face. Sure, tattoo placement helped a lot, and steady hands of course, but Aeris has a unique skill in keeping his clients physically and verbally malleable. It's admirable in this profession. As is the art he'd spent said session working on - Beej rolls closer on his stool to check out the iPad display.
"This is sick, man. I'm so happy bug tattoos are in right now. Hoping it leads to some push for eco-conservatism in the mainstream; everyone wants a tattoo of a worm until it comes to composting."
Barely connected ideas held together loosely with dollar-store tape but Beej is serious - everyone loves to pretend they love bugs and creatures until it's time to support the longevity of their natural habitats.
"She'll only be your client for a few more sessions, right?" The brow raise Beej offers is subtle, though it conveys exactly the right amount of innuendo. "You're good about bein' strict though. Can't say the same for myself. If someone decides after an hour and a half of consensual stabbing that they'd like me to take them home, who am I to disagree?"
"What if I get one flavor and you get the other and then we'll just split them?" It seemed like a pretty good idea to her. Plus they stopped giving her samples. "Maybe we can even find a third person to go in and then we'll have a smorgasbord." Context be damned, she just really liked using that word and she always got criticized for how she said charcuterie, but he didn't need to know that. "What do you say? Are we going in?"
"You... are a genius. No bad choice because we both get to try each one. Now that's some big-brained thinking. Unfortunately," he leads, peering down either side of the aisle. "We seem to be the only ones here right now, so we may have to fund this scheme ourselves. I'm thinking we go double-or-nothing: I buy s'more and peanut butter cookie bark, you pick out two more flavors, and we have our own smorgasboard adventure."
Gavin was grabbing a couple things for his son before his mom dropped him off. He didn’t always try to have some sort of big thing for him when it was his time for custody. But he did always want to make sure Bennie felt like he was always thought of which he was.
“ depends what’s in them. Does the s’mores one actually have marshmallows? And if it does how does that make you react? “ he notes as he grabs a couple more things @beejsachar
"Okay, nice. The therapist approach. Feel like I should be on a couch or somethin' for this."
Beej grins, though he tries to put on a more serious expression when considering the question. "Yes, the s'mores bark has real marshmallows, annnd... I feel fucking fantastic when I think about eating them. Problem is, I feel pretty fucking fantastic thinking about eating the peanut butter one, too."

——- Glancing over at the other curiously, listening and giving a nod of his head a couple times. placing a hand on his chin, acting up his thinking before looking back towards the other. ❝ both is a lot — and if i were you, i'd go with s'mores as i'm weirdly into that stuff, so, that's my suggestion. ❞ he shared with a slight grin.
"Why does everyone assume I'm a grown adult who believes in a myth? I just mean, some of the things we pretend for children is just...so insane. My grandma tried and failed with the whole Santa debacle. I always paved my own way, though, with gifts. A lot of shoplifting was involved."
"Mmm. So, what, you don't think children deserve the mysterious magic of Christmas? Something that makes childhood so special is all the bullshit adults put on for them. So many kids have to grow up way faster than they should these days... I don't think it's that big of a deal if we make up a fat dude in a suit who flies everywhere in a suit if it's making some kids happy, you feel me?"
Amusement glints in Beej's eye. "Was? You don't seem the type to give up on a klepto tendency - you seem like more of a refining your craft type."
Celeste was usually more of a sour candy kind of girl so she was on her way towards the gummies when she heard the question. Tilting her head, she thought about it before nodding to the first one. "Peanut butter always gets my vote. The other sounds like it could get too....sticky. Not to mention, marshmallow isn't even really a flavor? It's just..sugar."
"What? Nah, marshmallow is for sure a flavor! When you think of it, you can imagine the taste, right? And when it's toasted? Phew." Beej mimes like he's biting his fist, the imagined deliciousness of a marshmallow overwhelming. "Might be too sticky, though, you're right about that. I've got enough messes to clean up without adding marshmallow fingers to the mix."

"You can't get out of it. We're already here."
Sure, they're not inside yet - Beej needed to smoke his cigarette down to the bone before he committed to a few hours trapped in Rock N' Bowl, strapped into a pair of roller skates until they dipped.
"It'll be fun. Promise. At least it'll be fun for me seeing you try. Isn't that what it's all about anyway? Laughter and all that?"
He grins. It's not a very compelling argument, but he's the one who drove them here - insisted on it, since Nora drives everywhere - so it's not like she has a choice.
"Getting married didn't make you, like, magically good at putt putt, did you? Lowkey I kind of need this win - Rahi kicked my ass last time we came and it's been weighing on my soul."

closed starter for cherry koch ( @cherryxkoch )
-> rock n' bowl
"Hey, Cherry, right? Nice to meet you. And hey, thanks for doing this - I know it's bold to choose a roller skating place but trust me - the nachos are legitimately the best in all of Aurora Bay, for real."
Attempting to be as much of a gentleman as he can at a spot where both the skating and the bowling patrons are wearing borrowed shoes, Beej opens the door for Cherry. It's second dates that usually get him nervous - first ones are awkward by default, so Beej doesn't feel pressure to be anything but himself on them.
"You want to stop at the bar first? I can't speak for their cocktails but they serve a mean canned Whiteclaw."
"How similar do you think ice skating and roller skating really are? I feel like teaching me to do what I do on ice shouldn't be that hard." Beej pulls his beer closer; he's been nursing it for an hour now and doesn't seem keen on finishing it any time soon, though it hasn't left his hand in just as long. "If you're down, that is."
