I actually genuinely don't understand the hang up of "I can't ship Caine with Pomni or the humans because I don't ship AIs with Humans"
I don't.... Understand the issue here?
First of all, they're all AI but they were all built with different data. So Pomni and Caine are like... Both of them are literally AI. Literally.
Second, why does the nature of their births separate them? Why can't Caine form a romantic relationship with files that were fed human experiences? Caine, who is Artificial Intelligence, or rather an artificial human. An artificial mind that is heavily based on the human creative thought process.
Caine... is SOMEWHAT human by proxy.
It's the strangest hang up. Like if you don't ship them, then that's fine! But when you say that specific term I just have to argue with you about coming up with arbitrary reasons why they "fundamentally cannot work."
Like. Your reason can just be not vibing with the rhythm of the ocean, my man. I'll take that WAY more than "hark! these two species cannot mix!"
