Beatles Versus Stones

The School of Rock Charlotte is more than a music school, it is an institution in Charlotte dedicated to teaching children how to become leaders, artists, and yes, even rockstars!

Students learn the basics of their chosen instrument through lessons starting all the way at Rock 101. School of Rock even offers a local house band should students want to take their skills to the next level. 

To date, the students of School of Rock Charlotte have played for more than 100,000 audience members, rocking the house from CBGB's all the way to Lollapalooza.

Poverty Is Real (PIR) is proud to announce its upcoming Charlotte concert event, Beatles vs. Stones — a battle of the bands featuring eight acts performing music by the two greatest rock bands of all time — on Saturday, April 19 at The Double Door Inn, with doors opening at 7 p.m. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Urban Ministry Center. 

The evening will feature eight bands performing four songs each, covering their favorite works by either The Beatles or The Rolling Stones. Bands currently signed on to play include School of Rock Charlotte, Reeve Coobs, Dead End Parking, Little District, Yaddatu, and Toleman Randall.  

Tickets are $12 in advance and are available at doubledoorinn.com/eventlist.aspx. The Double Door Inn is located at 1218 Charlottetowne Avenue. More information about the show is at povertyisreal.us.

Spencer Smith, Executive Director of PIR, says the event’s beneficiary, Urban Ministry Center, was identified as a key player in the fight against poverty within the Charlotte community. “They are the perfect example of an organization effectively fighting poverty on the local level,” said Smith. “We’re thrilled to be supporting such an amazing organization.”
