Announcing the WORST Beatles Song Tournament!
All right, so per the results of the poll asking what the next tournament should be, now we're going to decide what the WORST song put out by the Beatles was!
The following caveats and rules apply. They're mostly the same as before, but a refresher for the new followers:
These are ONLY songs written (or co-written) by members of the band. This means none of their cover songs are included. This decision was made for the sake of my sanity, and also to fairly get an even numbered bracket. If there's interest or enough protest, I may run another bracket for or including the cover songs.
The German versions of "I Want to Hold Your Hand" and "She Loves You" are also not included, because they're translations and I felt like that was a little unfair.
These are only the songs included in the "main catalogue," meaning songs released while the Beatles were an active band. This means that bonus tracks, lost tracks, unreleased songs, or songs released after the band broke up are not included. This was to make sure the bracket could be finished in a reasonable amount of time. A bracket for unreleased or bonus tracks may be considered in the future.
This bracket was seeded based on the results of rounds 1 and 2 of the Best Song Tournament. Each song was ranked based on the number of votes it received in the first poll it was featured in. I realize this method of seeding has a lot of flaws since the number of entrants meant a good number of songs entered in the second round when this blog had a lot more followers, but since this is determining Worst instead of Best I doubt it will unduly affect the results.
Propaganda is encouraged for this tournament, but please be polite and don't attack other voters. Please limit your propaganda to discussing the merits/shortcomings of the songs as-is; while many of them allude to or are about things happening in the band members' lives, I don't want this to become a drama blog about what kinds of people the band were.
Anyone being nasty about anyone involved in the Beatles' story in the notes (including band and non-band members) will be blocked on sight. This includes placing blame for the band's breakup on any one person.
The tournament will begin next weekend when I've had time to queue all the polls.
