Am amongst some friends on discord. Still present-ish. Most of us are working on personal projects and such.
“We’ve had worse~” Temps teased as she laid out the pizza – their favourites in each box. “Remember the time we sneaked into Saint Mocianne’s Aboretum? You wanted a closer look at the flora in there after they had closed for the day.” That had gotten the pair tossed out for their troubles, and shipped back to their dorms in the colony, but far worth it, in Temps’ opinion.
In answer of how class went, they sat the tape recorder they had made down, “Took extensive notes as you asked! Prof said nothing, but sent his well wishes. The rest of them looked relieved that you weren’t there to ask all the questions, but I could tell they were disappointed we didn’t get enlightened by your wisened presence.” a playful wink, sitting at the chair and helping themselves. “Don’t sweat it, Ast. We all get like that from time to time. I think you’re often telling me I should ‘take care of myself’, so here’s me gently returning it to you.”
Eat, she seemed to be saying; giving him a pointed look.
Taking a slice, a grin slipped at the memory. He'd been so disappointed and Temps had taken care of ensuring he got what he wanted. Anxious the entire time until he saw the first of the flora inside, and then it was as if all the worries had vanished. Much like they always seemed to whenever she schemed something.
He rolled his eyes where she couldn't see. It was in good nature, but still.
"Hmm. Well, you are the trouble maker," he teased, nudging playfully with his knee. "I at least try to be a good student. But maybe that's the universe's way of balancing us out." And after fighting with a bite of cheese that did not sever its pull, Astraeus added, "I think this is less taking care of myself, but you taking care of me. Thank you, by the way. I'll avoid selling elixirs to Faust so this won't happen again."
“– Shadow Mil –” the shattered vase indicated that the jester wasn’t going to take it, and… sighed. He deflated, watching his other half march off in anger. Pure Vanilla danced around the shards of the vase, making a mental note to clean it up later so that he could follow.
The healer sprinted to reach him, stopping just long enough to summon enough ice and snow to form a compact snowball. This would work to get Shadow Milk’s attention, in the very least. But before he threw it, he opened a portal behind him, grinning as he then threw it at the jester.
“You’re so angry, aren’t you? Then why don’t we fight it about where others won’t get involved. Because it’s always about me, isn’t it?”
With that said, the healer ducked into the portal, leaving it for Shadow Milk to follow, if he was incensed enough.
The split second snowball to the back of his head erased everything ongoing at the present.
And then the flame reignited into a flame that even managed to immediately melt the remaining snowflakes desperately trying to cling unto him. Shadow Milk raged, screaming out like he was alone in the Spire all over again because for what did acting out matter. If Pure Vanilla wanted to play a game, it was nigh time a reminder which of them reigned the superior game master. Silver or no silver.
His form melted into darkness, and the snake of a shadow slithered towards the portal.
Inside, the form of the beast remained in hiding. Portal closed and rather than immediately lashing out against this fool of a thief, the other realm shifted in a savage fight of Shadow Milk's own control clashing with that of Truth's.
A resounding he shadow serpent began taking form beneath Pure Vanilla, striking upwards to land a venomous bite of delirium.
Just like how I imagine all the ancients exhibit aspects of each others' virtues, the beasts also boast the vices of their fellow beasts.
Shadow Milk, Master of Deceit, falls into silent depression periodically, exhibits fits of reckless destruction when pushed, feels too apathetic to care about others, and indulges into his own happiness for sloth.
Presently on @/recordscfdestruction with @/whiteflourfog this is also getting brought out because Burning Spice is leaning heavily into her apathy. It's hot.
Literally, they make each other worse.

There was, a contemplative silence as Pure Vanilla towelled himself off and left the drenched robe to be whisked away and cleaned separately; reaching for one the blue one after getting the water out of his hair.
“It’s hard to say.” he began slowly, braiding the damp hair so that it wouldn’t get in the way. “I’ve met the others – for the most part. They’re all different, there are some similarities, but the differences…” his gaze shifted, staring at the door that led out to his bedroom. “I would say in a fair fight, at least three of you would remain standing, all things considered.”
Pure Vanilla then dropped the towel in the same space, and moved to drain the tub; shaking the yellow dyed water from his hand. “Because your dough’s tainted, there’s a disadvantage that you have. Which means I’d like for you to be careful moving forward. Not because I think you’re weak, but if they figure out your dough is laced with the silver poison; they may try to use it against you.”
Out of all that, none of it answered his question. The vagueness said it all. Pure Vanilla was trying to be all nice and dance about the truth. He was still a Master of Deceit and could pick up on when someone was lying to him or avoiding answering a question. Not even saying which three of them even.
Where was an outlet when he needed one. Ripped pages, splashed pain, setting fires- any of them would do right now. And all he could do was bunch fists into this shabby robe and take the treatment like some knock off puppet left at a thrift shop.
"You've said enough."
Shadow Milk shoved the door open, storming out. Whatever was closest... a vase of flowers grabbed and thrown into the far wall. Even shattering, it wasn't enough broken pieces. Nothing mattered. Not when they were both wasting time here. Not when others were out to get him. He had to get stronger. He had to be the best.
Pure Vanilla caught himself before he was fully submerged, gripping the edges of the tub tight as he hauled himself up, watching Shadow Milk.
It needled the jester to be told that, but sometimes the harsh reminder was necessary. Especially after pulling that stunt today by poking and prodding at Maestro the way he did –
it had to be said.
In either case, the healer got out of the sudsy bath and grabbed his own towel, pressing it against his face to get the worst of the water out of it.
“What I did was in defense of you.” he said simply, voice muffled. “Intervention is not always a slight to be made, but to protect.” Pure Vanilla pulled the towel away, ignoring how heavy his hair was with all the water, holding it in one hand to gently rest his hand on Shadow Milk’s shoulder. “I know you can handle yourself, and I know you’re smart enough to figure out when it’s time to beat a hasty retreat. But there are some battles you simply cannot win when it comes to other versions of myself and their Shadow Milks.”
A beat, then a flicker of a smile, “If it helps any, I might’ve gave him a parting gift that when he plays his piano at any point; he’ll hear nothing but quacking until he apologises for what he did.”
Towel in hand to muffle the frustrations, Shadow Milk furiously dried his face hoping somehow it would wipe all the yellow and silver away. Perhaps to no avail, but he wasn't gonna ruin the image by checking in the mirror. Now if only he could replace the poor explanations offered to console him.
A cyan eye peeked over at the trick imparted to the lesser beastly creature. Perhaps that would make up for it, and in that regard, maybe never getting an apology would be the greatest slap in the face at the other variant. Aster's lips twitched at a threatened smile trying to imagine Maestro bash every piano to pieces to figure out why his instrument became a flock of ducks.
Picking through something dry and not stained... he dug around until finding one of Pure Vanilla's robes- opting for a soft purple, and slipping it over for the time being before turning his attention back over with a hard stare.
"So be honest, since that's your thing... You say we can't win against our other selves if things turn south. Would you still say that even if my dough wasn't tainted? I want to know how weak you think I am to them."
How pitiful do you think I really am...
He remained calm even as Shadow Milk threatened to drown him, snarling in his face about how he could’ve handled Maestro and the others… and he reached up to grasp Aster’s wrist, looking at him dead in the eye despite the partial blindness. “You would’ve been treated far worse if I hadn’t intervened.” he didn’t have to look at where the silver was tarnishing and streaking through Shadow Milk’s dough.
“I understand your frustrations, and I understand your anger, but I will not stand by and watch you get tag-teamed by other versions of you because you chose to poke and prod at their weak spots.” he snapped back, “I’m going to tell you a very unhappy truth, Shadow Milk, and it’s that you are not at full strength despite what you think. Me intervening saved your damned life. Again, may I add.”
Pure Vanilla’s grip tightened, leaning upward and into Shadow Milk’s face, “When we find your body you can have as much fun as you want; I won’t stop you. But until then, I’m going to do what it takes to ensure your survival. Got it?”
Leave it to Fanilana to remind himself how pitiful a condition he was in. Another reminder why he hated everything he stood for and why he embraced deceit. So what could he even say to it... The glance down at his own chest and arms said everything. Not even half the beast he was supposed to be.
Upon reestablishing his illusion of normalcy to hide the imperfections, Aster released his grip with a harsh shove like this was a wet waste of time before moving to pull himself out of the water to properly dry off. "When I get my body, I'm taking back your soul jam and erasing all of their existences. But I don't know what's worse right now. Maestro ruining my hair or you not not bothering to step in to my defense despite all your claims to care," he finished with a murmur.
Empty as a hateful bite back as it was, it was something just to make a stab at Vanille. He shouldn't be the only one hurting.
ACK –
Pure Vanilla was thankful that he had chosen to not wear the white robes today, utterly drenched in bubbles and water that was stained with the yellow dye. A splutter, as he gripped the edges of the bathtub, blinking at the blurry, blue colours that was Shadow Milk.
“What was that for??” he asked, having a feeling he knew exactly, why this had been done.
He should drown him right here. Shadow Milk had half a mind to were it not for the fact he needed him alive for now.
"You know exactly what. I'm beginning to feel like you really are out to make a bigger fool of me," he hissed. The jester grabbed the collar of those robes and shoved him deeper into the water, threatening just enough to where he could still hear.
"You manhandled me again. I could have killed that damned other me were it not for you. And I wouldn't have ended up worse than I already am. You can't leave things alone can you."
He’s going to coax Shadow Milk into a bath first, warm with plenty of bubbles ( look. No one can say no to a bubble bath ). Then, he’s going to start carefully scrubbing the highlighter yellow haircing dye out. Once Pure Vanilla’s certain that it’s all gone, he’s going to then start drying and brushing out the jester’s hair.
The healer won’t say anything, because he can tell Aster’s sulking. Instead, he’s going to simply hum a bit, before, “Did you want me to leave you to sulk, or were you going to demand company?”
@beastcfburden he is here to fuss and give Aster attention
It had been only after being urged into the bubbles did his illusion drop and the tarnish and silver reveal themselves beneath the horrid yellow. Humiliating was what this was. As if his makeshift body's condition wasn't bad enough... As if it wasn't bad enough having Pure Vanilla try fixing a situation he could have prevented.
Watching the dye drip from his hair and into the water, the passing duckie floating by almost appeared melting were it actually from the bath toy. The silence between them was the saving grace of what kept one of them from drowning in this moment.
He sighed- grumbling beneath the towel and brush. Dread seeing the the extent of the damage to his hair that was already less than perfect. The eyes in his hair blinked at every stroke, shifting between their strained, fake eyesight and ruined glare at the hero.
Shadow Milk turned a head towards his other half, simmering, still upset before reaching a sud covered hand out to roughly drag the idiot into the water.

“M-My liege…?”
Not going to comment on the highlighter yellow palette. It’s so sickeningly neon that she almost has to look away — what an eyesore of colors.
“I’m good at makeup and dressin’ up — would you like me to try my hand at uh…redesignin’ you…?”
Y'know... Credit was given that Moondreamer didn't know him as long as his fellow deceitlings. Didn't know how to read the room. Maybe he should have been flattered that he could still deceive so well. Especially the way he'd been absolutely fuming and ready to snap the nearest cookie's head clean off. Teeth gritted at the sound of her voice calling for him. His poor yellowed hair still oozing and writing under his own anger.
"Redesigning? Heh. You think I need redesigning?" He brought darkness all around the two of them, himself fading into the shadows where only the mismatched eyes glowed. "I am perfect. I was the favorite you know. I don't need someone changing how I look under ANY circumstance. Not you, not Maestro, not the silent traitorous knight, not that half-baked Fanilana. You all mean nothing to me, and when the time comes, I'll have the last and only laugh."
And then the eyes vanished.
And silence remained in the still black void that stretched out endlessly.
Dropping back in here to say...
Aster is hiding under an illusion. What might seem like normal dough is actually his tarnished and silver streaked self.
For now. Until he gets his true body back. Then it's over for all of you.
he's just floating there. menacingly. the temperature is cold enough that his breath is visible as wisps of white steam. his silhouette, shrouded by unnaturally deep shadow, appears distinctly un-cookie like. too many tendrils, too many eyes. ❝ aaasteeer. ❞ maestro croons, dragging out his doppelganger's name into an ominous melody. ❝ now, now, now, i know running our mouth is kind of our schtick — buuut you know the old saying, don'tcha? too much of a good thing? ❞ he extends an arm, leveling his staff at him with a crackle of dark blue magic. ❝ you wanna ragebait, do ya? get a little a-tten-tion? ooh, do i have the solution for you! ❞
and while his doppelganger thoroughly distracted with his dramatic entrance slash monologue combo...
an entire bucket of highligher yellow haircing dye upends itself over aster's head.
At first Aster had shivered. He did not like the cold. And from his defeated vantage point still across @vaniliight's shoulder, his eyes glanced up at the coo to his name. No fear, no comedy. Blank expression as he regards Maestro with a mutual narrow of the eyes listening on and on and on to this rehearsed monologue...
The instant the bucket dumped over his head, Aster flailed. Kicking and wiping away at the sticky goo with hissing and snapping.
He felt Fanilana clamp down on his hold to keep the writhing serpent in place.
To no avail.
"Your fate is sealed when I get my hands around your neck. We'll see just what nightmares I can inflict before I end yours and your Sunny's existence," he raged.
Aster is summarily scooped and started to be carried off, “I think you’ve done enough damage for the day, zahr.”
One minute laughing, the next hoisted over Fanilana's shoulder fireman style. And it is fact hot.
What did I do????
So... is Sunny physical or emotional space to you then?

@pinchofdeceit replied to your post “First of all.... he likes none of you. Second,...”:
i'll remember to get upset about that when i start caring about the opinions of lesser creatures ~
Don't talk about Hermes like that!
First of all.... he likes none of you.
Second, this could have been avoided if Vanille gave him some enrichment. So it's his fault.
