As a Christian, I must recognize that the Biblical problem with the month of June in America is PRIDE
(Please read further before commenting⦠noticing what Iām not saying⦠in fact if you are waiting for me to say āitā this is the closest Iām coming to that in this post)
Paul makes clear in Galatians 6:3-4, pride is the root of all comparison.
Save Paul, nobody has articulated this better than C.S. Lewis who said in Mere Christianity: āWe say that people are proud of being rich, or clever, or good-looking, but they are not. They are proud of being richer, or cleverer, or better-looking than others. If everyone else became equally rich, or clever, or good-looking there would be nothing to be proud about.
It is the comparison that makes you proud: the pleasure of being above the rest. Once the element of competition has gone, pride has gone.ā
For those of us that claim to follow Christ⦠Pride. Should. Not. Be. Part. Of. Our. Life.
1 John 2:16 (KJV) ā āā¦the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.ā
This verse hits it in the head for the month of June⦠if we are to join in, let us leave pride aside.
