nam sangbae taking the responsibility for this boy he saw as a potentially criminal will always make me so devastated. sangbae seemingly also didn't have any family, not that he ever mentions or are shown. dongsik lost two people forever and while one become a 'statue'. these two became each other's family, for over 20 years, sangbae made sure to drag dongsik through thick and thin, lifting him up, just being there. he didn't raise him. sangbae 'reincarnated' dongsik. he watched over and made sure that dongsik was still breathing. he gave him the hope and opportunity to do something and feel that although his efforts could have been futile, HE still did something. sangbae was dongsik's savior.
