Make space for your dreams

My favorite way to start an organizing and decluttering project is around a goal, a dream, something loved.

This client wanted a place to sew. A cluttered spare room has been transformed to include a gorgeous, well-lit spot for sewing. Kitty approved.

What is your best time of the day? Best setting?

For me, it’s first thing, early in the morning, before my brain is completely engaged. When the creative dream parts are up, but before the practical, make-breakfast, take-a-shower part of my brain is awake.

I can write, dream, get things moving.

When organizing and decluttering, I am often tempted to feel like I have to take care of every little thing right now. To figure out what to do with the things I don’t want before focusing on what I do want. Nothing could be further than the truth. Figure out the things you do want first, put them in place. Work out the details later.
