The communal bathrooms were empty at this time of night, yet the lights flickered on when Yuji and Megumi walked in together after hours spent awake. Instead of anticipated slumber, they laid next to each other, deciding who could create the best looking shikigami out of their fingers. The fruitless activity prolonged for hours. Hours of laughing, snorting and Megumi catching glances as Yuji’s face crinkled, years of laughter painting his face.
It was an unconscious thing, Megumi presumed, to ogle at his best friend. To bask in the warmth or his chuckles. To edge closer to him mindlessly, silently celebrating when Yuji curved into him as a response. To read him like a book in the morning, and to drink him in like hot chocolate on a winter’s day. He had become so accustomed towards Yuji, that Yuji had ingrained himself into Megumi’s conscious and subconscious. Eating away at his feelings, thoughts and soul like a parasite.
He liked the way Yuji looked, the way the amber of his eyes lit up like the rising sun. The way he elicited calmness and skittishness, all in one. How he was so, so beautiful—like silver of morning sun shining through curtains. The scars on his face were carved so eloquently, the faint red paired perfectly with the tan of his skin. He liked the slight silver of skin underneath his chin, and the slight chap of his lips, or when the wind blows in his face too hard and he scrunches up his nose in detest. He hated the wind, he really did. He complained it took away his will to be outside, messed up his hair and his day over all. Megumi liked the animalistic nature the wind left his hair in.
Water streams down Yuji’s back, and as Megumi stares once again, it then pummels into him. Completely eradicating all sense of security, wiping off the subtle smile formed by his lips as Yuji spoke to him. The feeling knowing that he was actually in love with someone, capable to do so, shattered and repaired something within him simultaneously.
“Can I have the soap, Fushiguro?” Yuji asks, beckoning his hand to the soap behind the spiky-haired boy.
Megumi Fushiguro was indubitably in love with Yuji Itadori
