“Are you stoned? Did you get high without me?” 

The best thing about art, is that anyone can see its beauty- even the blind or hateful. Art has no preference on who can look at it and be taken back by how wonderful it is.

“Is that the plan you’ve worked out for yourself then?” 

“If sober and depressed were synonymous for me, then yeah. I’d rather be high than bummed out all of the time.”

“Seriously, if you’ve got such an issue sharing the damn sidewalk, you could just walk in the grass.” Holden rolled his eyes as whoever he’d been arguing with stormed off. He glanced up at someone lingering nearby, giving them a quick grin. “Sorry you had to hear all that. He was an ass.”

“No, no, don’t apologize. That was the most entertaining thing I’ve seen all day.” 

“Sober, bored, depressed. The usual.”

“Sounds like you’re better off being high twenty four seven.” 

“Exactly. I spend half my life high and confused. It’s a lot of fun.”

“And the other half?” 

“Whenever I smoke a blunt things stop making sense.” 

“You’ll probably have more fun high and confused than sober and confused.” 

“So.. what are you supposed to do if you don’t know a single thing about basketball?” 

“Smoke a blunt until it starts making sense? At least that’s what I’m gonna do.” 

“ To be honest, I’ve never managed a C in my life… but you’re probably right, I dunno… I mean, I’m not sure I’d die over it… but not happy is a for sure.  What are you taking here, anyway? ”

“As in actual classes? Far too many for my liking. Talent? My brother and I are here for sculpting.” 

“You’re probably right about that,” Delilah agreed with a laugh. “If you change your mind, you know where to find me.”

“If you could manage a B and say...Five? Ten? dollars less, you got a deal.” 

“Eh, no worries,” he replied casually. “Forget about it.”

“I thought you said it was important.”

“I can write your essay for you if you pay me $30.”

“I’ll have to decline. It’d be too obvious if I went from C’s to an A, and I’m not paying you for a C.
