Maybe you already know, maybe not, but this year J2 didn’t win anything on the People’s Choice Awards, altough Misha won as Favorite sci-fi/fantasy tv actor.

I’m pretty sure the J2 really don’t care about an award when the organizers didn’t even invite them the years they won. And for me, personally, they are already winners because they found a friendship most of all only can dream of.

Dean, on whether or not he likes musical theater

Wait. Wait. You mean the show with major plot points revolving around siblings who have to choose between “traditional” relationships and being with who they actually love??

Dean and Sam are separate entities with their own personalities, quirks, and habits. It is made quite clear that they mean the world to each other, but that is not their entire existence. Sam’s anger issues are not related to his love for his brother. Dean’s adoration of the Impala is not related to his love for his brother. Sam’s desire to eat healthy is not related to his love for his brother. Dean’s tendency to dive into alcoholism is not related to his love for his brother. Can those issues connect the brothers in a way? Sure, but those issues are not a direct causation of that connection. You cannot say “Sam wants to eat healthy because he loves his brother” or “Dean is obsessed with the Impala because he loves his brother.”

There are many reasons to dislike one brother that has no connection to the other. I can’t stand Sam because of his habit of guilt tripping himself for the entirely wrong reasons. He feels guilty for things that aren’t his fault and doesn’t feel guilty for things that are. Does that mean I don’t understand Dean’s personality? No, it does not. I understand Dean. I knew as I began watching Season 1 that Dean would protect Sam come Hell or high water because I am also the younger sibling in my family. It is not difficult to spot the adoration of an older sibling when you’ve been the object of that same kind of adoration.

Your mistake is thinking that understanding a character and loving a character are mutually inclusive. They’re not. If it was, characters such as Bela Talbot and John Winchester wouldn’t be as hated as they are. Sometimes all it takes is to fully understand a character to realize that they are not someone you would ever want to meet.

Your point does not stand. My entire post is about your direct words, “…you can not claim to love one if you don’t love the other as well. Because then it means you don’t understand 50% of your character’s personality." You make the claim that loving one brother and hating the other means that people are not understanding 50% of the personality of the one that they love. That is entirely false. You can understand a character without loving them. Understanding does not mean love, agreement, or even tolerance.

The other part of your original post: “You can not love one brother and not the other. You can’t. If you do, stop watching the show or start over, because you missed a thing or two. It’s not about shipping, about romance or anything else, it’s about two guys who mean the world to each other." This assumes that anyone who doesn’t love both brothers must have missed something because their opinions on the brothers don’t match the opinions of the characters. The content of any show does not dictate whether or not the viewer should love, or even like, a character. It is your opinion that they missed something, but it’s entirely possible that they watched every single episode, took in every single detail about the brothers, and still came to hate only one of the brothers. All or nothing mentalities do not address the complexity of human emotions and human personalities. By claiming that someone must have missed something because they love one brother but not the other, you are purposely ignoring the valid interpretations of many people in the fandom. People are capable of fully understanding both characters, of catching every single detail in the show, and still come to the conclusion that they love one and hate the other. You can dislike the idea of people loving one brother and hating the other all you like, but that will never make it a fact that their opinion means they missed something or have failed to understand the characters.

Well that is really great because the post was only about the brothers so does that mean you’re willing to take back everything you just said? This was a post about Sam and Dean Winchester. And I still firmly believe, along with quite a lot of people, that loving one means loving the other. It’s not because understanding means loving. I understand people I don’t like, thank you for enlightening me about the difference between the two but that wasn’t necessary. Sam and Dean Winchester are two characters who have their own traits of character and are not defined by the other, yes I agree (never stated otherwise btw).

Love means understanding, otherwise it is a lie. If you love something you don’t understand, then I am really sorry for you. Loving Sam and/or Dean is understanding why they do the things they do, why they behave the way they do etc etc. And more often than not, all those reasons are the other brother. They make the decisions they do, whether they’re good ones or not, for the other, almost never for themselves, that’s the show, you watch it like I do. If you say to me you love one and hate the other, it means you are completely denying a pretty big part of who they are. it means you’re willing to see past half of the things they do just to keep loving your favorite. I didn’t say you had to love them both equally, you can have one you love more, but you can’t love one and hate the other.

But let's just say your best friend, who you love very much, marries someone you can't stand. There's nothing morally reprehensible about this person but you don't like their personality, you don't like the way they always interrupt conversations they aren't part of and you don't like the way they're never on time. Maybe you just hate their face.

Nevertheless, your best friend adores this guy. Would die for him in a heartbeat. Maybe you understand why she loves him, maybe you understand why she would die for him, you've listened to her go on and on about him so much that you feel like you know him just as well as she does.

Still, you hate his face. Does this mean you don't love your friend? Or does this mean you are missing some key element of this dude's personality that would change your mind?

Every comment J2 made at JIBcon about Destiel, Misha thinks the opposite of it. When Jensen’s words were reported to him, he looked embarrassed for what Jensen had said and, or I read it that way, surprised too and he told us he was going to have a word with him for that. You could see that he cared because he knew some people in the audience were hurt.

Misha is an amazing human being, he is inspiring in so many ways and he has nothing to do with the hypocrisy and pseudo homophobia that J2 and the show like so much, as long as we pay their bills and don’t ask because if we do, we have to be ready to let them shame us in response and have a room full of people clap. Ignorance is way louder and sure of itself, brightness is a outcast full of doubts and always has been, and that’s the paradox of the entire society.

I talked openly with Misha, I looked into his eyes, he took my hand, he’s the best person I think I’ve met and when everyone seems to not understand - or pretend not to - this “weird person”, as J2 like to describe him, remains honest despite his co-stars’ bigotry and he is outspoken, in the limit of professionalism (meaning he had to master the subtle ability to speak his mind without making his friends and their bosses look like complete assholes).

Misha is an amazing human being, he is inspiring in so many ways and he has nothing to do with the hypocrisy and pseudo homophobia that J2 and the show like so much.
