“Oh really? That sucks, I hear it’s still nice over there when it starts to get cold here.” 

“Hey so you never told me, how was that trip to Mexico?”

“So you haven’t finished your homework, have you?” Kayato’s response had basically given him away. “Even if you don’t need my help, you should finish it now before anything else.”

It was clear to him that Kayato was lying, so he pressed on.

“You get homework every day. Today shouldn’t be any different.” A pause. “If you haven’t finished it, I could help you out with stuff you might not understand.”

He huffed, easily growing defensive and irritable.

“–Before you go,” he began, as soon as his brother stood up from the table. “I want you to wash your plate for me. And bring me your homework so I can check that it’s done.”

Wash dishes? Whaat? No way.

Pauses and glances back at him.

“…What did I say?”

“Oh! Would you look at that!”

Eyes him for a while before going back to his own food.

Peeks at him to make sure he’s not looking.
