For context: this came out in 2011 in Australia. Same-sex marriage would not be legalized until December 2017.

It was only legalized in 8 US states (the 8th only a few months before), and wouldn’t be legalized nation-wide until 2015.

It was only legal in TEN COUNTRIES in 2011. We wouldn’t hit 20 countries until 2017. (Australia was 23rd)

As of today (April 14, 2026), I believe only 38 countries have fully legalized same-sex marriage. Out of somewhere around 200 countries in the world. That’s only ~19% of countries.

This is still revolutionary.

Have a problem. Got my friend into watching One Piece/ I'm rewatching it to refresh. Have a minimum of five episodes a watch when we do sit down to do so. Has been mostly daily. Started in March, just got to them saying farewell to the Going Merry.

Figured that was a good breaking point so we could actually watch other things. Like Witch Hat Atelier. Despite being very reluctant, also got him to watch the first episode of Gachiakuta and that is now on the cycle of what to watch. Also while on the break, going to finish watching the Mandalorian movie (had gone to theaters but there were projector problems so we have a good hour of it we have not watched) and finally watch the Hail Mary movie. Alongside this, we also have the Digital Circus finale coming up, the new season of Vox Machina, and the new season of That Time I Reincarnated as A Slime on a list to watch.

I am truly worried we may have accidentally stalled our run of One Piece because we finally exited the drought of good shows.

the thing about dying your hair fun colors is occassionally some random guy (almost always a guy) will ask you "why do you dye your hair [fun unnatural color that evokes joie-de-vivre]?" as if an explanation is somehow needed.

as someone who's had blue hair for a decade, my answers vary but my current go-to is "to attract pollinators" (these men rarely find this explaination satisfying for some reason?)

#used to say it was because i felt like being so and so color for a time #but the latest answers reflect the idea of our most colorful creatures in nature being dangerous in some way
