I think it's safe to say that Fred Fredburger was a surprise breakout character, one who certainly seemed to shape and affect the show moving forward. I have to assume it's a good thing to get such a hit, but was there any feelings about having to change your plans to accommodate the popularity of the little guy?
He was a blessing plain and simple. For whatever reason, he took off in Keeper of the Reaper. By the time it registered with society, we had enough time to get the frogurt episode done and "Big Boogey Adventure". He appeared in Underfist, but otherwise... that was it.
Maybe we were lucky to have so little time. Maybe we would've burnt him out if we'd had another season. I'd have liked to have seen that.
Anyway. Fred sadly died in 2017 of a drug overdose, so it's moot. He was great for the show, but he's not coming back. I don't want anyone digitally recreating him. He should be remembered for what he was: A cute green elephant creature with diarrhea.
