Since no one is here...
Anna poked her head out of the folds of the Fjords, watching with curiosity the back of a head and an armchair moving through the empty spaces. The noise had attracted her. She sort of fell out of the doorway, arms flailing out to her sides, before standing straight. Huh. Thought that was more solid. The redhead followed behind, watching as the tuft of black curls settled down, and spoke. It was to himself, she knew, but Anna couldn’t help responding as she approached him, hands clasped in front of her.
"It’s your birthday?"
Basil had not expected to be interrupted considering the current circumstance of the circus where there were hardly any people anymore. He glanced up at the redhead that had spoken and then gazed back down at his tea. "Yes. Unfortunately. The big three-oh. That's thirty years too much," he mused, his eyes back on the girl again while he took another sip of his tea. "I planned to spend it alone. As I always do. Every year." He was subtly dropping hints that he didn't particularly want there.
Since no one is here...
Daisy watched as the curious man named Basil struggled with his chair and tea. With a swoosh of her skirt she turned into a tent and found a chair, taking it she dragged it over to where he was and sat it right across from the detective. “Drinking tea alone is most horrific.”
Basil merely raised an eye when the young woman sat a chair in front of him and plopped down in it. "Only if you enjoy drinking it with company. In which I don't," he informed her with much distaste in his tone. "Are you here because you feel 'bad' that I'm drinking tea all alone and your poor good heart just made you sit down with the lonely man?" A hint of mockery was laced in his words.
Since no one is here...
Basil is carrying an armchair with a little struggle, bringing it to a central part of the circus where there used to be lots of crowds. He then brought over his tea and plopped down, slouching. "Birthday tea served best: In the middle of fucking nowhere."

I really..
"No, it does," Yuna put her hands over her face and sighed heavily, his shallow mindset making her wanting to vomit. "Your mind sends signals to you. You know? I’m feeling this, or feeling that. Or you could relate to something, or you could just be eating a goddamned cream filled doughnut for all I fucking care. But your brain has everything to do with any situation, your mind. Whether you care about if anyone accepts you or not, it does affect you. The fact that people can accept me in ways here and could even possibly relate to problems that people on the outside could not, brings a sort of… comfort. I may not feel like I totally belong, sure, but at least it’s an idea, it’s a comfort, a lovely thing. I’m not ready to give up the small lovely feeling because I’d rather have this than nothing at all," she explained, shutting the file and looking up at him with an eyebrow arched. "I would take her if she went or if she wanted to. Do you listen?" Yuna laughed slightly before shrugging. "I’m trying my best here, to fix my problem."
"I'm aware of how the mind works. What you are talking about is not the issue," he said. "It's the fact that you believe that everyone here accepts you and relates to you somehow. It's the fact that you believe that everyone here is such a special snowflake like you and that anyone not from here would never be able to relate to you. Let me tell you something about the mind. You can easily convince it to do something incorrectly, or repeatedly – program it, like a computer. What you have done is convinced yourself – your mind – that anyone not from this circus cannot understand you or get along with you or whatever your deal is. It's like when someone around you may be talking about...oh, I don't know...lice or something, and then your head feels itchy. Or when a fire alarm has gone off and you smell smoke, but then you are later informed that there was no fire. That's what you're doing," he spoke with an incredibly fierce gaze. It was not one of irritation or anger, but of concentration. "Well, you're doing quite a poor job of it from what I can tell."
I really..
"Uh huh?" Yuna murmured, smiling a little as she read. She was hardly paying attention to him, calling her special, mocking her. At this she only shrugged and sighed. "I’m not special, you twat," she spat it out, but not in an ‘I-really-care-what-you-think-of-me’ kind of way. More of a dismissive statement. "I have never felt like I belonged anywhere. Unwelcome by many, even myself, but here at least there’s an idea that I’m accepted in a way. Normal people would surely have me killed… whereas everyone here is okay with me in the anotomical and nuerological, physical sense, that they don’t mind who I am or the things I can do, because here is where s-shattered pasts come to belong because they couldn’t before. The real world is unreasonable to people like me. I intend to stay unless my girlfriend goes with me, I’m not going unless she does. That’d be my final straw. She’s the only thing I belong near, now."
"That has practically nothing to do with the mind," he informed her, a grimace finding it's way to his features. "Also, if you have never felt welcomed at the places you have been, and hate it here, then why not search for a new place where you don't feel like being a special snowflake is a horrid thing? And take your girlfriend or whatever. Unless, of course, you'd rather sit around and complain. One day I'd like to see someone actually trying to solve their own problems instead of running their mouth about how awful their life is," he mused, sitting back in the chair he was in as he kept his piercing eyes on her.
