Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
A knives I have use for almost 15 years is the Benchmade AFO tactical knives. Used it during many years of survival training. It's not a fixed blade, which would have been better, but the blade works great. I have split wood for teaching firecraft, killed and gutted snakes and rabbits, and cut up prickly pear cactus. I used to have 5 of these knives. I've destroyed 2 and gave one away. Don't know what I'm going to do if I lose these to. I like them for their small size folded. Two different blade edges is always a plus. I can't tell how happy I am with Benchmade knives. I've used hundreds of different types of knives from hundreds of different companies. I only still carry and use Benchmade. Love their knives! #MyBenchmade
Will not endorse your survival gear!
I still get requests to endorse survival products and gear. I would first have to try them out in all kinds of conditions. I would literally try to break or destroy that item. So most people don't want me using their products in a "survival" situation! So please stop asking me to endorse your products unless you're willing to give me one to run it through its paces. I will give an honest and fair opinion. Just let me know.

Water
Water is one of your most urgent needs in a survival situation. You can't live long without it, especially in hot areas where you lose water rapidly through perspiration. Even in cold areas, you need a minimum of 2 liters of water each day to maintain efficiency.
More than three-fourths of your body is composed of fluids. Your body loses fluid because of heat, cold, stress, and exertion. To function effectively, you must replace the fluid your body loses. So, one of your first goals is to obtain an adequate supply of water.
The Survival Gear you NEED when the SHTF! Rrrriiiight!
Everyone knows when the SHTF, be it by EMP, cyber attack, government collapse, or zombies, nothing is going to work. Electric grid will be down, gas and water off. But, when I check out web site for survival gear and training, they are selling everything that won’t work or will only work for a few weeks then run out of fuel or will brake. Why do I need a HAM radio with no electricity? A massive generator with no fuel? A cell phone range extender, who are you going to call? Learn basic survival skills! When the crap they are selling won’t work, what are you going to relay on? That solar charger for a radio/tv/cell phones/other electric gadgets that won’t do a damn thing. Â

Hey, really liking the posts on your blog! I've been looking for other blogs with real survival content, not just pretty pictures of the woods, or yet another EDC pocket dump. Yours is a winner!
Thanks, I'm not trying to make money. Just get information out there.
The revelation about Geraldine Largay, contained in a report by the Maine Warden Service, was 'a recipe for disaster,' a retired warden says.
!No reason for this! A basic survival skill!
Survival not selling.
I have been scouring the interwebs for all kinds of survival topics and interesting tidbits. I have looked at tons for blogs, websites, and Facebook pages. More often than not, people are selling crap. They have very little to offer in way of "survival knowledge" but are ready to sell anything. I hate seeing the garbage that people are selling or promoting. Most of it is useless trash. And I dislike the whole "preppers" thing. One thing I am not is a prepper. If the SHTF really hits it, all the pre-packaged garbage is not going to help. Having a few months, or a years worth, of food is not going to do any good. You still have to survive. All that stuff is not going to last. Learn to do thing on your own. Build a small house, keep a fire through a winter or rain storm, ID edible plants, grow those plants, hunt, trap, prepare food. Store food for long periods of time. I think everyone should be prepared, but don't just relay on that. Learn basic survival skills. You can't order that off the internet.
By: The Nature Tech Fam One of the most important aspects to surviving in any wilderness situation is to understand “The Survival Rule of Threes.” These rules need to be practiced and remembered well before heading out on the trail, and are even easy enough for young children to understand. The Rule of Threes states: You can live three minutes without air, three hours without shelter (when DRY), three days without water, and three weeks without food. Although the Three Minutes without Air is crucial to even providing a chance for survival, we have chosen not to dwell on those first three minutes in this series of articles (for in-depth information on preventing water accidents, see the hikebiketravel.com website.) Therefore, we will begin this article with the next most important aspect of survival: Shelter. When you prepare to head outdoors, whether for a few hours or a few days, the Rule of Threes should guide you in your gear selection and packing. Even a simple day hike in unfamiliar territory can cause you to lose your way. One lighter-weight shelter item in our EDC (Every Day Carry) Pack is the UST Brands Tube Tarp. With no poles necessary, this tarp can be zipped into a tent, and can sleep up to two people. This tent stays true to survival form: you don’t want your shelter to be much larger than your body to minimize heat loss. In addition, its bright orange color, reversible to reflective, can help you be noticed easier by SAR teams. At only $39.99, you can’t afford to NOT have a tent like this in your EDC Pack. Whether you prepared ahead or not, the moment you realize that you are lost, STOP MOVING. Depending on the location of your survival situation, you will need to locate or create a shelter as soon as possible. Even in warm climates, the nighttime temperatures can dip down enough to cause hypothermia, especially if you find yourself wet or the weather becomes stormy. Look around you and locate (as close to you as possible) an area that might have a safe, natural shelter such as a cave, thick bushes, or other sturdy windbreaks. Be sure to avoid low areas or flood plains. If you have time before nightfall, work to find brush and tree branches that can be fashioned into a debris hut or lean-to. Even with a tent shelter or blanket, use debris to your advantage, piling it on top of the tent, and stuffing it inside. The closer you can keep your heat to your body, the warmer and more comfortable you will be. In addition to creating a safe place to spend the night, focusing on the task of building will help keep you stay calm, and the physical movement will keep you warm. Never underestimate the power of a great shelter in the wilderness. Learn well before you go how to construct a debris shelter, and practice putting up your survival tent. Always go on a hike with an EDC Pack that has first aid supplies, shelter items, and fire starting materials. Planning and preparation will keep you in line with the Survival Rule of Threes.
Starting a Basic Wilderness Survival School!
I'm looking at the finishing touches to start a survival school. The business plan is almost complete. Need to look for land. Then the biggest part, equipment! There are hundreds of items out there. Tons of different compasses, knifes, tents, fire starters, and the list goes on and on. I have to think about what is easy for the novice to use. If it to complex, they could be intimidated. Thus, losing a student and a future camper, hiker, and customer. There are great companies out there put out great products. Now I have to find the proper fit.
