The compliment every white guy in a movie has given his movie girlfriend: Wow.. you.. you look great.
âThe closer he looks at the child, the less he sees ⌠The more he looks at it, thereâs nothing there. He fears that the more you look at him the less you see. There isnât anything there.â - John Hughes

what she says: i'm fine
what she means: Take a look at this. That right there is the mail. Now letâs talk about the mail. Can we talk about the mail, please, Mac? Iâve been dying to talk about the mail with you all day, OK? âPepe Silvia,â this name keeps coming up over and over again. Every day Pepeâs mail is getting sent back to me. Pepe Silvia! Pepe Silvia! I look in the mail, and this whole box is Pepe Silvia! So I say to myself, âI gotta find this guy! I gotta go up to his office and put his mail in the guyâs goddamn hands! Otherwise, heâs never going to get it and heâs going to keep coming back down here.â So I go up to Pepeâs office and what do I find out, Mac? What do I find out?! There is no Pepe Silvia. The man does not exist, okay? So I decide, âOh shit, buddy, I gotta dig a little deeper.â Thereâs no Pepe Silvia? You gotta be kidding me! I got boxes full of Pepe! All right. So I start marchinâ my way down to Carol in HR and I knock on her door and I say, âCAAAAROL! CAAROOOLLLL! I gotta talk to you about Pepe.â And when I open the door what do I find? Thereâs not a single goddamn desk in that office! ThereâŚisâŚnoâŚCarol in HR. Mac, half the employees in this building have been made up. This office is a goddamn ghost town.
Ok so I will totally draw more silent film body pillows if anybody wants to commission one (discounts given for things I cackle through the process of drawing) or⌠Basically anything else
Because I am switching jobs and could use some extra holiday cash. Your picture will be a better scan, because a kind person here on tumblr is sending me a copy of photoshop (I lost mine when my computer crashed, whee), but this is what Iâve got to show for the moment
Also, I charge by the hour, so tell me what you want and Iâll quote you a price. The sketchy brushpen ones run like $30-40 and the more finished stuff is more like $80Â
Which means pencil things are even cheaper
Just sayin
Reblogs appreciated~
I canât believe I havenât told this story but when cheetah girls came out on Disney channel my dad was obsessed with it and called himself Cheetah Dad for like 2 weeks
very fucking punny you shits
Letâs see feminists push for female inclusion to the draft.
1. âWomen and Children firstâ was not and is not a widely practiced poicy
2. Most feminists, myself included, want to completely abolish the draft and selected service.Â
The idea of âwomen and children firstâ wasnât invented by women - it was invented by menÂ
Just another part of the patriarchy, I suppose? How dare those men try to stop us from drowning
First of all, it was never even a thing. Women and Children First was not ever a widely used practice for evacuating ships.Â
In fact, letâs look at some actual facts: While the phrase first appeared in the 1860 novel Harrington: A Story of True Love, by William Douglas OâConnor. [source]
As a code of conduct, âwomen and children firstâ has no basis in maritime law, and according to University of Greenwich disaster evacuation expert Professor Ed Galea, in modern-day evacuations people will usually âhelp the most vulnerable to leave the scene first. Itâs not necessarily women, but is likely to be the injured, elderly and young children.â
Furthermore, the results of a 2012 Uppsala University study suggest that the application of âwomen and children firstâ may have, in practice, been the exception rather than the rule.
And here, read up on the differences between hostile and benevolent sexism.
And really. Is this the best yall have? Your best example of sexism against men is a myth about women getting preferential seating in maritime disasters?Â

Awesome protests erupted in my school today. Our student council planned a âfunâ game for valentines day. They handed out paper hearts to every girl at the beginning of the day. Only the girls. If a girl speaks to a guy through the duration of the day, she has to give him her heart. Guys get five raffle tickets for every heart they collect. Girls cannot collect hearts, they only have one to give away, and guys do not have to give away anything. A gay male asked for a heart to give away to participate and was told no.
Some girls have taken this as an invitation to say things such as, quoted from twitter, âkeeping the whores from talking today haha.â And boasting about âkeeping their heart and not being a whore.â This has turned into an excuse to shame each other for talking to guys. And for what? A valentines game?
Rather than writing their names on the hearts and giving them away, many girls have written notes of protest on the paper hearts and are wearing them proudly as they associate with whoever they please and refuse to give the heart away.
Proud of some of the people in my school today.
males are rewarded for collecting female âheartsâ and are encouraged to collect as many as they possibly can, but females are only allowed to have one heart to give away, and when they give it away theyâre not allowed to play anymore
the correlation of âheartsâ to how virginity/sex is treated in society is kind of eerie and definitely sexist
This is a really big deal! My elementary had us do this for Valentineâs Day one year. Girls were given a prize if they kept theirs, boys were given a prize if they got one. The boys would harass us - verbally, getting into our personal space, or pulling our hair - until we told them to stop and then they would get to take the heart. A lot of us were pretty mad about it at the time, and now that I see the implications of it, Iâm even angrier.
ALL THIS COMMENTARY AND ALSO SOMEONE GIVE THESE KIDS A METAL
To start this hairstyle, I set my hair in hot rollers. Curling the hair in the direction that you are going to style later makes the pompadour and faux-victory rolls much easier to form. You could just as easily use a curling wand, I just have always preferred hot rollers! I rolled the bang and crown sections of my hair going backwards and away from my face. I rolled the side sections of hair under and down. Once I released my hair from the hot rollers I combed it smooth with a brush.
Next you would section off the bang portion of your hair. This will become your pompadour. Section off a chunk of hair above your ears to become the faux-victory rolls. (I say faux because these are not the technical 40s victory roll, but a quick and easy alternative that looks just as good, in my opinion) Before you begin to form the pompadour, tease the base of the section and hairspray it liberally. This will give your roll a steady base to nestle into. To make the roll, form a loop at the end of the section by loosely wrapping the strand around two fingers. Hold onto this loop very firmly, and never letting it go, roll the loop towards the base of your head. When youâve reached your scalp, carefully pin the roll in place with bobby pins. Repeat this same technique with the victory roll sections. There is no right way to do it, so just keep playing until you find a shape you like! Just remember, hairspray is your best friend here!
Once youâve made your pompadour and victory rolls, you can gather the rest of your hair in a low ponytail slightly off to the side. Accessorize it with a flower or ribbon to finish it off!

This scene in Inglourious Bastards, this particular part, was so brilliantly written. The characters are playing a game where you sit in a circle and write a famous personâs name on a card, flip it over, pass the card to the person next to you and stick it to your head without looking. Then you ask everyone questions to figure out who it is. This man- a Nazi commander- asked âAm I American?â (no but..) âHave I visited America?â (yes) âWas my visit fruitious?â (no) âDid I go against my will?â (yes) âAm I from a place youâd call exotic?â (yes) âAm I from the jungle?â (yes) âDid I go by boat?â (yes) âAnd when I got there was I bound with chains and presented in front of a crowd?â (yes!) âWell then. I know who I am. An African slave. No? Oh then Iâm King Kong.â â and in one instance the viewer realizes the metaphor which King Kong was to the African slave trade (a truly Tarantino way of inserting social awareness through dialogue spoken by social oppressors) as well as takes a moment of almost comic relief to a very strange middle ground since we see just how intelligent and foolproof this man is. This is good filmmaking.Â
THEY ARE ALL OKAY, and all those things could exist in THE SAME WOMAN. Women shouldnât be valued because we are strong, or kick-ass, but because we are people. So donât focus on writing characters who are strong. Write characters who are people. âmadlori
Modeled on this post. This quote needed a gifset that featured a more diverse group women. Because my takeaway from Loriâs marvelous answer (seriously, go read all of it) is that representation fucking matters and that great female characters do notâand should notâfit into the same cookie cutter mold. Because actual women are not one size fits all. And the irony of having that message cross my dash repeatedly with exclusively young, white, straight, cis women who match a prescriptive definition of beauty was getting to me.
