A long way home

Some little Calixto facts @rookfest

Calixto was born to a dalishan father and a fereldan city elf mother

Her father died of the blight when she was barely a toddler

Her mother married her antivan stepfather when they were living on Tantervale

She settled with them for years (even had a little brother) until the development of her magic, which forced her to ran away from home towards Antiva and the Crows (guided by her stepfather's stories)

Found an "unamed crow" whom tried to dissuade her on the way (and failed) so he proposed a deal to her: he would train her for a year and half but she would re evaluate her decision by the time they reached Salle. Which sadly, she didn't do.

After getting herself "kidnapped" by house de riva and gruesome training that resulted in her face scarring (by rival apprentices.) she managed to be a fledgling. There was so much wine that time.

The rest of the story involves a lot more of complicated things but eventually: Calixto, Andarateia and Viago managed to get a solid relationship (as much as it can go on with a master assassin secretly in a relationship with two talons at the same time.)

Fessalin is a double edged sword blessing to them: No one was expecting that to happen. He happens to be the biological son of Viago whom is not only the Talon of House de Riva, but also the bastard son of the King of Antiva (the only one of his bastards to reside in Antiva) and he is also the son of Andarateia, which also makes him into a sort of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria situation for as long as he is alive.

"Caterina, it is time to let the staff go for tonight." He was softer with her than others, the customary growl he greeted Crows and Contracts with gone, deference the only form of respect he knew in her presence. "Ah, yes, be off then if you care so little for your responsibilities. I will see you in the morning." "Tomorrow is Satinalia," He replied, the eyes of every servant in the room on him, their own fate lying in the balance of his negotiations. "And I have a contract that you need to complete," Caterina dipped her quill, her work uncompleted, her drive unmatched, her desire for this conversation to be over even greater than her ambition that led to this point. "On Satinalia? A celebration marked in goodwill to others, respite for the weary?" Lucanis said. "Tradition would not be stingy, our culture not so inhospitable." "I suppose you would be begging me for the whole week off next," Caterina mused. "There is little point tomorrow, Caterina. Tomorrow, all Antivans will be locked away in their homes, surrounded by families, too many witnesses, and too many distractions to make any difficult contracts viable. Even the most hated of Antivans will not be alone tomorrow," The words slipped from his mouth faster than he could think, but they settled in the air. For the truth of the matter was, to everyone's knowledge, that Caterina would spend the day alone, as she had for decades. Lucanis and Illario kept only each other's company prior to their amorous partners.

"A poor excuse for your laziness, squeamish interpretation of the role of First Talon, perhaps I chose wrong, as I am the only person who knows this." She docked the quill, standing with the clack of her cane, "Take it off if you care so little for our success," Lucanis's face remained stoic, the disappointment curdling in his stomach at her dismissal.

think about it. the temple itself, or at least the gauntlet part, is built into the mountain, carving through inside of it. if you bring oghren to the temple, he senses lyrium in the mountains and stone around you. if you bring him and Leliana to the urn, he says that the lyrium he senses is the purest and richest lyrium he’s sensed in a long while and that it’s likely had an effect on the ashes. when corypheus blows up the temple with a ticking fade-rupturing bomb, it doesn’t just go boom, it goes MEGA boom, tearing a hole in the sky—possibly partly fueled by the lyrium in the temple, which is then turned to red lyrium near the blast radius. it looks like the blast radius might be where there the urn itself was, if we go by the big Andraste statue centered there. we know now that lyrium can be red because blighted corruption, so corypheus may be a factor as a blighted creature who also got caught in the blast, but it can also be red lyrium if the Titan is angry or in pain. which, you know, I imagine an unexpected explosion might trigger that in a Titan

what if the ashes are magical and curative because they’ve sat for centuries near the heart of a Titan, infused with its pure lyrium energy? what if solas not only miscalculated the pent-up energy inside the orb, but also the effects of unlocking it near a dormant Titan with more than a little lyrium and its residual energies to spare?

The King and Queen of Crows and their emotional support courier/concubine

I'd like to think in a Fantasy setting where Viago ends up raised as the heir prince to Antiva (by some means) and his father has to strike a deal with the crow houses. Turns out even if you are a prince you can be used as an exchangeable object for your emotional absent dad to do with the assassins that have some kind of ruling power over your country. Of course Andarateia is proposed by Catherina to think about this potential marriage benefits, and never say that this elven woman isn't anything but practical. She wants to expand her own influence over the crow houses (even Caterinas) to change them, so of course she is going to accept this proposal (and let's say, no one is jumping at the chance, might as well take it before someone realizes what they have potentially lost in power.) And Calixto is here for the ride, honestly. She went to Antiva and joined house De Riva to escape the potential templar imprisonment on the free marche's circle of magi. But sadly the peaceful life she wanted to lead isn't going according to plan. Even if she is more a courier than an assassin, Calixto gets selected by Caterina herself to accompany Teia in this new endeavour. And well, you can't say no to the First Talon of the Crows. The rest will undoubtedly be a veery long time for everyone involves, especially when the marriage isn't really doing good at the start. Let's see if Calixto can manage to make them fall in love (Task failed succesfully, they are now in love with each other but also with her oops)
