“It matters if you’re upset over it. You know you can talk to me…” 

“It would be a waste of time. I promise, I’m fine.”

“What can I say? Us peasants need to make our way in the world somehow…” 

“Right. Well, anyway, if you’re done now...”

“Well fuck that. Who did it? I’ll kick their asses.”

“Oh, it’s fine. Who needs it anyway?”

Piper are you sure something didn’t happen? You can talk to me you know…

I’m positive, it’s just situational annoyance and aggravation.

“Pretty sure assuming I’m upset about Gucci is having an attitude.”

“Possibly, maybe. He told me he was flirting with a girl the other day, that was you? It makes sense now.”

“Well, he asked me to go bowling on Friday... and he said that he’d drop off my blanket as an excuse to see me. What kind of behavior of his would you pair that up with? ‘Be my friend’ or ‘Date me?’”

“You didn’t no but when someone asks about someone else then they have something in mind. And I can see you blushing!” She exclaimed with a laugh. “You can’t lie to me! But what you ever do, don’t hurt him. He’s been through too much lately.”

“Point taken,” she nodded and gave a little grin. “So, if you’re close and everything, does that mean you’d know if he was asking someone to just hang out or to go out on a date?”

Maia raised an eyebrow instantly, knowing just exactly she was talking about. “Wickham. Aaron Wickham, that’s who you’re talking about. Of course I know him, he’s one of my closest friends here. Why?” Her eyes widened as the thought struck her. “Do you like him?”

Her eyes widened at her question. “Woah, woah! Maia, nobody said anything about liking anyone!” she rushed, a blush rising to the apples of her cheeks.  “I just, yeah. I just wanted to know about him! That’s all.”

“Alright. Go ahead, who do I need to give my opinion on?”

“What do you know about someone named Aaron? I have yet to learn his last name, but he has really pale skin... moles... blushy cheeks.. Do you know who I’m talking about?”

“No, I’m not going.” The sentence was as simple as that as Ryan glanced over to the other person. “I’m not gonna rain on your prom parade or whatever, but I’ve never been good with the whole dance thing,” he bit the inside of his cheek. “So, I think I’ll pass.”

“And that’s exactly why you should go!” she exclaimed, gripping his shoulder with a grin. “You don’t even have to dance. There’s food, photo booth stuff, open bar with... soda! You get to look fancy as hell, too. You don’t have to go, but I think you’ll regret it.”

Rian shrugged, sending a small smile her way. “I do. Hope is the last thing you can ever lose, everyone knows that.”

“Last thing to lose is a lot different than not being able to,” she mumbled before walking over to the comfy couch in the lounge. She sat, pulling her legs up to her chest.
