In the Carrie 2013, why do you think that Carrie spares Sue's life when she found out that she was pregnant?
Maybe it's because prior, Carrie did let Sue go realizing she truly was innocent of what happened to her. But when feeling a baby within her, Carrie realized that something of Tommy---the boy who was kind to them both--- can live within Sue and that a baby shouldn't suffer for either of their mistakes.

What do you think about 2013! Chris Hargensen? What did you think about Portia Doubleday's potrays?
To be honest, I think 2013! Chris Hargensen is a clear example of a foil of Carrie because both girls are a victim of their own environments in different ways: the way she stares at Sue after she refuses to walk out on her is something I do have praise Portia Doubleday for her acting---even in her rebellion, it's almost like she realizes she's more alone and that her 'friends' abandoned her. She especially confronts Sue for 'abandoning her', almost seeming heartbroken when she entered the gym "So....I'm out of Prom" and going to Sue specifically.
In the Prom scene, she herself looks stunned by Tommy's death before Billy drags her off and that's something that leads into what happens next when Carrie catches up: when Billy dies, she sobs his death with no one around to help her. She basically goes through what Carrie did on stage when Tommy died---having someone she loved die and no one helping her. She then snaps herself and tries steering the car to run Carrie down before Carrie takes control of it.
It even seems Carrie herself felt sorry for Chris when seeing her face embedded through the glass and her dying, like she didn't want things to come to this but felt like she had no choice.
In the Sue and Chris confrontantion in the 2013 movie, Chris said that Carrie deserved being bullied since they were in 6th grade because she always said that everyone, except her and her mother, will go to hell. What do you think about this?
I think that this was a clear lie on Chris' part, trying to boost her own ego: mainly because it's clear that Carrie had gone to school since the first grade.
Also, while Carrie may have said some unintentional things given her upbringing (she may have thought that those things were completely normal to say or it was Margaret who drilled them into the minds of her classmates----after all, Margaret did own a sewing shop), to say she 'deserved' to be bullied is an outright lie.
I would like that they made a sequel of the 2013 adaptation of Carrie? I was always curious what would had be Chamberlain life after the tragedy.
I was thinking about make the main character Isabelle, Sue and Tommy's daughter, and Sue who is trying to work as a school conselour because she still feel guilty about Carrie but Isabelle inherited Carrie's powers, what do you think?
This is actually something I was thinking of. Isabelle Snell at 16/17 discovering her own telekinetic abilities because in the alternate ending of Carrie (2013), there's a brief shot of a bloodied Carrie holding baby Isabelle---hinting that she's destined to become the next Carrie White. Carrie also used her abilities to get Sue out of the crumbling house.
In Carrie 2013, what Chris wanted to say with all her "The Reason You Suck" Speech to Sue about that she did not care for Carrie but just to going to prom with Tommy? And if Sue knew that Chris was just wanting to hurt her, why she was so sad about her speech?
It's subtly implied that Chris was jealous of Carrie's more innocent and natural beauty buried underneath that messy hair, unfashionable clothes, and refusal to make eye-contact.
As for Sue being sad about Chris' speech, I find it a mixture of different things---the first being is that it's implied that the girls (Chris and Sue) were friends since Barker Grammer Elementary school. In the original 2013 script, the popular girls had a falling out with Sue, not just Chris.
Also, whether Chris knows it or not, she did call Sue out for being self-righteous because while she stopped in the locker-room, she didn't stop bullying Carrie before. And just because Sue feels sorry now doesn't really mean much in light of years of bullying since the first grade.

lowk suspect in the show there wouldve been a moment where sue and norma learn to reconcile their differences. 2002!sue clearly doesn’t like norma much (lesbian affair scene) and imo the movie leaned into a lot of sue’s superiority complex (which i love bc i feel a lot of adaptations miss that mark) so i think the show might have forced sue to break that down
I also suspect that there would've been more investigation by Detective John Mulchaey into the history of Ralph White. Mainly because the 2002 adaptation doesn't mention Ralph White at all (a possible half-sibling---Rachel Lang---set-up?). So, along with slowly finding out through the course of the series that Carrie is alive and would be the man responsible for capturing her, John Mulchaey could also find out Ralph White (the man who is implied to have given Carrie her abilities) is also alive.
And since the Chamberlain police here is like the Shop, that could've provided some interesting material.
I also think Rita Desjardin would've played a big part in the series: having to confront that the student she showed kindness and compassion to played a role in most of her students being murdered. And what she could do if she discovered if Carrie was alive and in hiding but had no memory of what happened on Prom or what she herself did.
As for Norma and Sue, I do see them reconciling their differences: especially if Norma wrote a less callous and more sincere version of 'I Survived Black Prom' book and is genuinely trying to help her fellow survivors and townsfolk. Now, whether if Sue would let Norma in on Carrie's survival would be a matter of debate (especially given how quickly Norma spilled to the detective about the Ultras): so despite their reconciliation, Norma would slowly suspect Sue is hiding something big.
So, I feel that Sue would still remain morally complex and the show would delve into her superiority: because she's hiding such a big secret at only 17/18. She knows Carrie wasn't in control of herself---had gone into a fugue state---but knows that other people such as the Detective won't see it that way, won't see the memories she saw when Carrie showed her memories.
considering carrie being alive is revealed during one of miss desjardin’s interviews, i suspect she would have been the one to find it out.
I would've liked to see Rita Desjardin actually conflicted on what to do (with Carrie being alive but she having no memories of what she did after the blood was dumped) and Sue having to confront her superiority complex over the course of the series. Those two slowly learning how to work together would've made some interesting character development.
But I would've liked to see more of Norma Watson as she reminds me so much of myself at high school: seeing her as a recurring character would've been interesting. was rereading the 76 script and i noticed something reminding of ur sue and tommy=margaret and ralph theory. sue in 76!script never responds when tommy says i love you, and asks him not to call her honey. she also is constantly turning away from him. larry cohen actually continued his theme of sue never saying i love you to tommy in the 84 workshop script.
in the final scene, carrie is trying to get margaret to have mercy, and says i love you to margaret. margaret doesn’t reply.

Oh, that's such a parallel and I feel it would've added more depth to 76! Sue's character had the 1976 film added that in. I kind of wish they added a version of that in because I feel Brian De Palma never really got Sue as a character.

It's kind of a mixed bag for me. I wish they were going more with an accurate casting (ie. A casting similar to the 1988 musical and 2002 adaptation)
Nothing against Summer Howell but I want an average-looking actress whose beauty shines through at the Prom: in the book, her classmates described her as 'a frog among swans' and King himself describes her as a 'chunky girl with pimples' and flat mousy blonde hair. But when Tommy first asks her to the Prom, he describes her as not bad looking if people looked past her bad posture "Her face was round rather than oval, and the eyes were so dark that they seemed to cast shadows beneath them, like bruises. Her hair was darkish blonde, slightly wiry, pulled back in a bun that was not becoming to her. The lips were full, almost lush, the teeth naturally white. Her body, for the most part, was indeterminate". And of course, when she arrives at the Prom, all dolled-up, she looks almost unrecognizable.
Angela Bettis was closest in terms of this appearance because of her messy hair, her clothing, and the worn, weary look she wore.
I hate to say this because I never want to say anything bad about anyone but Summer Howell just seems to be badly miscast...
When it comes to the positive aspects, I really want to see more development from the popular girls (in the 2013 film, according to the original script, girls like Heather, Nikki and Lizzie were supposed to get more characterization to make them better stand out and make you cheer when their deaths came, but said development was massively cut down. It's especially apparent with Heather because due to the bad editing of her scenes being cut, it seems that Heather is unaware that the prank is about to happen at first, as implied when she says at the Hair Salon that she knows Chris isn't coming to prom because she's suspended, and when she tells Sue at prom that Chris isn't there. However, judging by her reaction to the eventual prank, which is glee and laughter, it becomes blatantly obvious that she knew the whole time and lied to Sue....which makes it even more sickening because the day before Prom, when seeing Sue looks sickly---due to her pregnancy---Heather genuinely and sincerely asks Sue if she's okay...only to lie to her the next day. That's one of the many things that the petition of Carrie 2013 is said to restore.
In contrast, the popular girls in the 2002 adaptation were done far better: you have Tina who is established as Chris' right hand and gets her karma in the destruction the prank she caused, Helen Shyres who has a little character arc of her own where she starts as one of Chris and Tina's cronies but she slowly feels remorse and eventually wounds up voting for Carrie genuinely and trying to help Tommy during the chaos, and Norma who is by far one of my favorite characters in the 2002 adaptation) and apparently, Ralph White is said to be in this and given we don't know much about the man in the novel, this series can take any direction with him, especially given that Ralph White is said to have died when Carrie was a baby but here, he's around to raise Carrie with Margaret. Making that two ticking time bombs whom raise Carrie.
So....the upcoming Carrie series is a bit of a mixed bag and until I see a teaser/trailer and then the final product, we'll have to see.

to this day i will stand by the 2002 movie bc of their ensemble. katharine isabella’s tina is INCREDIBLE and their ensemble generally is really well-written.

this tv series seems to have a lot of new ideas…good and bad. i’m surprised they haven’t done like any promo considering it’s set to drop october and it’s currently june

I've seen the man doubt his own acting skills when he does phenomenally in more than just 1990s horror films. He is a highlight in the Five Nights at Freddy's films as William Afton and more.
Clearly casting needed help with their casting because Matthew Lillard would be a great Ralph White.

With the Carrie series directed by Mike Flanagan coming up, I want to take a rare character analysis on the antagonist of the book: Chris Hargensen.
For me, I used to initially hate Chris Hargensen as a kid because she was a bully and it just hit too close to home because it reminded me of how my classmates would treat me because I was different (even in elementary, I'd often find myself reading in the library during recess while others played outside).
But over the past few months, re-reading it with a clearer perspective on psychology, I see Chris Hargensen as a product of her environment she was raised in. Especially considering her father, whom I consider a foil to Margaret White.
In case those have forgotten, Irma Swope is a brief minor though mentioned character in the Carrie novel as Principal Henry Grayle goes over Chris Hargensen's history when putting her father in his place: according to Principal Grayle, in Junior High, Chris placed a firecracker in Irma's shoe and almost cost her two toes because she had a cleft lip. This demonstrates her father's lack of parenting because had the incident described below taken place today, Chris Hargensen would've been taken to a psychiatric hospital---at the very least---regardless of her father's money and influence as a lawyer. There was clearly psychological problems with her even before Ewen High that her father or the school didn't acknowledge. Here's the exact wording from the novel itself.

"Chamberlain Junior High, one suspension for putting a firecracker in a girl's shoe ... the note on the card says that little prank almost cost a little girl named Irma Swope two toes. The Swope girl has a harelip, I understand. I'm talking about your daughter, Mr Hargensen. Does that tell you anything?'

I mean, Chris Hargensen was already out of control due to her father's lack of parenting but being given a suspension---rather than being placed in psychiatric care---and her father's lack of response to how seriously out of control his daughter was getting speaks volumes. For those curious, this is her father's response to being called out.

'Yes,' Hargensen said, rising. A thin flush had suffused his features, 'It tells me I'll see you in court. And when I'm done with you, you'll be lucky to get a job selling encyclopedias door to door.'

I mean, if this is how he speaks towards being called out about the truth of his daughter's behavior and about the incident years after said incident occured, whose to say how he reacted when the firecracker incident initially happened? How he reacted when the Swope parents came after him?
Needless to say, I'm surprised that the Bar Association wasn't alerted earlier due to his behavior---because today, not even his influence would've gotten Chris Hargensen out from serious repercussions regarding the firecracker incident. At the very most, she would've been taken away to get serious psychological care and counseling and CPS would've been called in for John Hargensen's attitude towards the incident (how he reacts to his daughter's transgressions speaks volumes to how he probably reacted to a firecracker almost blowing off the two toes of a girl).
While it's never elaborated on, the parenting Chris faced at the hands of her father did affect her but in a different way to Carrie's parenting: His daughter's caught at a drug bust? She's putting his reputation at risk. It's even said by the Principal that John Hargensen pulled some pretty long strings to get her into Oberlin with no consideration over what she actually wanted (and not letting her do it on talent and hard work) and there's no implication he held her accountable for missing on the fifty detentions---out of seventy-three---for bullying students. He LET her escalate more and more.
It speaks more VOLUMES to John Hargensen as a parent and even though he only appears in one scene, I consider him even worse than Margaret White: Margaret was genuinely mentally ill from a mixture of what Ralph White did, implied genetic predispositions, a miscarriage of Carrie's older sibling in April 1962 mentioned early in the Shadow Exploded documentary, and finally what her grandmother Sadie Cochran did with her own telekinetic abilities to scare Margaret as a kid.
Now, I'm not trying to justify what Chris did in any way. She's still a horrific bully who needed to be held accountable and Rita Desjardin was the only adult in her life who did so (I also noted the symbolism of the lack of mention of Chris' mother---meaning she's either dead or given John Hargensen’s entitlement and behavior, divorced and wasn't able to gain custody of Chris---and Chris lashing out at Ms. Desjardin when she lectures the girls). But still, a normal elementary school kid doesn't go from being a normal kid to what she did to Irma Swope and the fateful pigs blood prank.
That's my character analysis on Chris Hargensen and I kind of want to know your own thoughts on it.
When it comes to the Carrie (2013) film especially as Mike Flanagan's take is coming up and Kimberly Pierce's original vision still hasn't been released, I find myself appreciating it more for what it could've been had it not been for executive meddling: I re-read the original script and it was an original modernized version of the novel with an emphasis on cyber-bullying.
The alternative ending to the 2013 film and the original script's ending (which keeps a pregnant Sue) also heavily implies that history will repeat through Sue and Tommy's baby (if you look in Sue's dream, the lights flicker). It's even set up the same way.
You have the father who dies before the child is born in Tommy Ross and Ralph White. By Chris and Billy killing Tommy at the prom, they ensure Isabelle grows up without the one person who showed genuine, selfless compassion to outsiders. Much like Ralph White’s absence after his actions towards his wife left Margaret to spiral into her religious mania, Tommy’s absence leaves Sue alone with her PTSD.
You have the traumatized mother in Margaret White and Sue Snell. Sue’s "trauma" isn't just grief; the flicking lights in the dream symbolizes---even subtly---that she is now terrified of her own child. If Sue raises Isabelle in a state of constant fear or hyper-vigilance (similar to Margaret’s repression of Carrie), she may inadvertently trigger the same destructive path.
And you have the telekinetic child in Carrie White and Tommy and Sue's baby (in the Carrie wiki, she's named Isabelle Snell and in a brief second, you can see a bloodied Carrie smiling as she holds baby Isabelle in her arms). Now the fact that I've seen accounts slandering them and comparing them to the movies cast is actually crazy. Not to mention most of the comments and videos saying how the show is trash when the damn thing hasn't even come out yet.
The only casting thing I actually understand is Snape being black. Hear me out.
The show is meant to be more book accurate or include book details that the movies left out.
Now, everyone knows the Snape plot line is that he's meant to be misunderstood until Deathly Hallows when his character is fully explained. The issue I feel is that nowadays most people will see the characteristics of Snape played by a black man and claim the show is racist for making Snape black and play a character that complex or the racists will use it as a way to hate pocs more than they already do.
I'm not faulting or saying big character roles can't be poc but Snape is an interesting pick with his characterization. I am excited to see how the show goes though.
Besides that, I don't really have any qualms about the casting, I do however have problems with some of the costumes. I saw Snape in a zipper. Snape. Zipper. 🤦🏽‍♀️

HARRY POTTER HBO SERIES
We all know that the new Harry Potter series is coming. With the release of the new teaser things have officially become official.
Now....
We might hate the remake , we definitely don't vibe with the author( because no matter what pro jkr people argue we still hate her and that is entirely justifiable) and maybe some of us may not even like that our favourite people are being replaced and some of us may be excited because we love the universe so much but hate the author the same way.
This creates a friction on whether we want to support the series or not. I want to say... It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if you hate it love it , or want to support it or not ( it is advised not to because no one wants jkr getting profits ) but in the end it's your wish and do not let anyone judge you for it.
But here's something we should do :
Don't hate or bash the cast - most of them are kids and we shouldn't let the hate get to them. It's not on them that YOU hate the series for whatever reason - justifiable or not.
Don't be a racist jerk - no one should personally care that Snape's character is being played by a black man or Hermione's cast isn't black. Idk why even in this economy people look at the colour of the skin ( like if there is war we are all going to die irrespective of our skin colour) Just look at the character they're playing and be a nice person.
Don't troll it too much - We might not be happy for it but we can be a decent human being and not give a single shit that it exists. People who are making a lot of money off of it don't care...but the cast does ( especially the kids )and we need to be extra sensitive about that.
Remember that no one is forcing you to watch it- don't watch it if you hate it. Because protecting our mind is more important than being pissed off about it after we've spent our time and energy on it.
It's okay to hate jkr - AND I RECOMMEND YOU DO SO. But don't be personal like "oh my god she's chopped" or "oh my god her voice sounds like a man". Hate her because what she stands for isn't right and you recognise it which makes you a better person in the end anyways.

P.S. : Some of us do want to watch it ( including me ) because we love the idea of it and there is always more room for magic in our lives. But if you hate the author or don't want her to profit off of this ( like me ) go for the pirated sites. Bc this is the only time we can justify using pirated sites to watch whatever we want to.
This is what I've been saying about Paapa Essiedu (sorry if I mispronounced his name). The people who have been making DEATH THREATS against him need to have their heads checked because I've seen the comments on Instagram and they are insane and brutal---like, do you people have anything better to do other than harass a man who has every right to feel SAFE in his own home?

Paapa didn't chose for this, he's a person with FEELINGS and with a home who has every right to feel safe and NOT be given death threats in a place he should feel SAFE.
As for the children's casting, I've got to say: for anyone who is criticizing the race of side characters, chill out. Terry Boot and Katie Bell have no defined race in the books. Susan Bones is described as having a plait in her hair which comes from Africa. Leave these children alone.
For crying out loud, leave Paapa and these children ALONE.
