Ted Talk : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRepnhXq33s&t=1s
Sound has an effect on people which Treasure has indicated the 4 major ways sound affect are on physiological, psychological, cognitive and behavioral.
Physiological
Sound affects on our physical health like hormone, breathing, heart rate and brainwave. For example that was given by Julian, a suddenly ringing of an alarm gives people a shock that causes a faster heart breath. In another way, it can relax you by a pleasant sound of sea wave that causes you a resting holiday.
Psychological
“Music is the most powerful form of sound that is most effect our emotional state... Music is not the only kind of sound however would effect our emotional, natural sound can do that too. Bird song for example is the sound which most people find it reassurance. And a reason for that over a thousand of years we learnt when the bird is singing, thing is safe. When it stop, you need to be worry”.
Cognitive
He suggest that people can’t understand when more than a person is speaking at the same time, unless people try to focus at one sound.
Behavioral
He suggest that the rhythm of the sound or music will have an effect on people behavior. He gave an example of high beat music would fasten people doing or reinforce their action speed. “At the simplest, you move away from unpleasant sound and toward pleasant sound”.
Respond
According to my idea of using symbolic sound to navigate people this research acknowledge me on know to reinforce people spatial (travel, performance) through sound. Behavioral way, I got an idea of using the rhythm of the sound to control the speed of people walk when there is a time that they need to walk slower or be careful.
Psychological
An Alert sound that caution people
Physiological
Giving a pleasant sound when they can just walk chillingly with no construction.
