One thing I love about 13 Reasons why is the diversity in their queer characters. Every gay character has a different relationship to their identity and a different label. We had bi-curious Hannah, openly gay and eccentric/effeminate Ryan, closeted lesbian Courtney, questioning and "I don't need a label" with Alex, the "you don't know they're gay until they tell you" with Caleb and Tony, toxic closeted internalized homophobe Monty, and Bisexual Charlie. No tokenism. No "only the stereotype" gay character. Just real queer representation and diversity.
