what's refreshing about adrien is that he doesn't solely exist for the benefit of the female protagonists, as male love interests in shows targeted towards little girls do. he doesn't just appear periodically for the main character to get all moony over him. no, adrien is in every episode, he's a superhero in his own right, and he's the glue that holds the entire plot of miraculous together. but that's not what i'm getting at.

because of his narrative place, he has the option to consider other girls, unlike the aforementioned poor male love interests. and he does - he crushes on kagami and dates her briefly; he is unconsciously attracted to marinette, not knowing that she's ladybug. adrien has a plethora of girls to choose from, if he so desires - we've seen many female characters on the show express romantic interest in him, plus we know that he's a supermodel, a celebrity; surely, someone like adrien can never be without a girl by his side.

yet, he's chosen to not have a girlfriend for 99% of the show, and not just because his heart belongs to ladybug. no, adrien is a true romantic; he doesn't want to be with a girl if he's not in love with her, if she doesn't make him feel the way he thinks love should feel like. even with kagami, who made him see heart bubbles, he was struggling to decide if they should kiss, and said 'i thought (!) it would be different'.

i love him so much. most male characters on television are shown as men who take pride in the notches on their belts, as men who are interested in girls solely because they're 'hot', who work hard to get a girl's number and then discard her as a handkerchief once they're done with her. it's not that adrien doesn't have options and doesn't want affection - it's that he doesn't want it if it doesn't feel right.

I am so devastated. I hate being stared at, but they don't understand it. I can see their eyes following me wherever I go. Sometimes they even like to capture me in their mobiles or cameras, which makes me think if my posture or clothes are right.

This society has a fake face. They say they want to make you feel good about yourself and support you but behind that golden-coloured mask is their real face and all it does is try to make you feel bad about your choices, maybe not through words but actions.

YES!! I know it. I know it isn't safe for girls, because people like you are a member of this society. You just pretend to help and support us whereas all you really do is make us doubt ourselves. Make us feel bad about ourselves. Make us hate ourselves. Make us feel uncomfortable in our very own skins. And I hate it, I hate it when you make me feel uncomfortable. I hate it when I start doubting myself because of something you said to me.

The sentence makes no sense. Of course Ladybug didn't choose Cat Noir; he's her partner, he's the only one who was called to this before anyone else.
