Welcome to Be a Goldfish: A Multifandom Multimedia Microbang! Join us for round 3. This is an event dedicated to small fanworks, taking the time to appreciate the little things, and big fun. Whether you’re a returning participant or you’ve just heard of us, dive in!

Participation is easy: just share as many small fanworks as you like, in any medium you can dream of, from 1 July through August 31, and comment on works shared by your fellow goldfish.

Fancy a bit of structure and inspiration? We offer weekly prompts and medium suggestions, as well as a comment bingo and a punch card. Use one, use none, use all: that’s your call! Participate on your own terms.

Want more information? Read our RuleDoc, which includes guidelines for a variety of different mediums, a few content restrictions, and image accessibility and commenting resources.

You can share works to our Dreamwidth Community, our AO3 Collection, our Pillowfort Community, or tagged #beagoldfish 2026 here on tumblr. You can tag us directly @bag-bang, too. Once you’ve posted, log your fanwork via our handy Entry Submission Form. At the end of the event, you can request awards for all your hard work!

Flex your fins and swim with us to new fannish heights. Experiment, explore, get excited, try new things, and share with us and other fans along the way!

Not in the creative mood? Join us anyway! Leave comments with wild abandon, cheer your fellow goldfish on, find new favorite works and compile them in a rec list or several. This is an event for everyone! Discover new works, new fandoms, and new friends. Your new favorite thing might be just one microbang away. Don’t forget: be bold! Be brave! Be kind! Be a goldfish!

Good Question! It's not by request we just haven't opened it to viewers yet. We're still getting everything ready for the upcoming round and we've been making updates to the RuleDoc (which is the same as the the FAQ, we changed the name since it wasn't actually a FAQ). We just want to make sure it's finalized before folks can read it.

We'll open it up once our promo posts go live on 1 June, so this coming Monday. Once it's live though, it will remain static for the entire round and no further updates will be made.

We've officially wrapped Be a Goldfish: A Multifandom Multimedia Microbang Round 2! Thank you to everyone who joined us in commenting, exploring, and sharing. We amassed 185 works from 38 creators! Wow!

If you missed us, not to worry! We will be hosting Round 3 later this year in July 2026.

This round has gone swimmingly: we've had so much fun creating, commenting, and connecting with our incredible community throughout the course of the past two months. We will be hosting a second 2026 round later this year beginning in July. In fact, we intend to host two rounds per year for the foreseeable future! Hold for applause. Please feel free to keep cooking up ideas, locking down collaborators, experimenting, exploring, making, and chipping away at those wips, because you haven't seen the last of us yet!

Promotion for the next round will begin in a few months, so keep a weather eye out, share with your friends, and get ready to rumble.
