‘i can’t believe’ sentence starters 🌿 t h a n k s @jaenaz

🌿     east couldn’t think of an excuse as he stared back at jaena’s face on his phone via facetime. it wasn’t as though he had been trying to ignore her, but it was more of a ‘i’m in the zone’ kind of situation. he was clearly out of it now, seeing that his phone was off of do not disturb mode. “sorry, ma. i was working, you know how i get.” a sheepish smile was offered in hopes of saving himself from getting an earful. “what you doing now, though?”

🍕        he could be doing anything else – he should be doing something else, productive things like organizing his room, organizing the lyrics that he messily scribbled down on random papers, actually working on somethings. but the video game was more important that all of those – and beating east’s ass on it, even more important. they had places to go later, but his mind erased that part for a second as he continued to press the buttons for the right moves without even looking, knowing all the special attacks by heart at this point. “ you’re fucking sleeping man, i’m telling you.” sonic smirked as he was announced the winner – as he expected, and while his friend picked another character in the game, he checked his phone to see if any messages ( by someone in particular ) popped on his screen. “ yeah… your phone keeps waking me up, of course i remember her ” he frowned, scratching his head. “ bro… what’s the plan? ”  

🌿     looking down at the phone that his friend kept picking up and then putting down, east raised an eyebrow while trying not to laugh. “if you’re not careful roman might be the one getting the texts you’re waiting on.” he couldn’t help but laugh, knowing just how sonic would have felt about that situation. it didn’t hurt to ruffle his best friend’s feathers some, though. “but no really, i dunno. i’m like this close to just saying fuck it and not going.” he held up his thumb and index finger that were barely touching just to prove his point. it wasn’t that he couldn’t handle one or even a handful of rowdy and clingy girls, because he definitely could. he just didn’t like the ones that couldn’t seem to take a hint. but-- that could partially be a blame to him. he wasn’t always as clear as he should be when saying things. and going ghost on a girl was a dick move... he’d reevaluate this situation later. “yeah-- i dunno, but i think i’d be fine chilling here and whooping your ass.” his character had been selected and for now, he was hoping to not have a repeat of the previous game. not like they were being paid for this particular club appearance anyway.

▲ “Mmhm-” Ai said in a nonchalant but at the same time she was listening way while digging through her purse.  She liked East, she really did, he was cute, he gave the ‘don’t call me cute I’m a man.’ vibe and that’s what made him even more cute.  “Sounds like you gon’ be on the toilet for a few hours if you eat that, how’d you come up with that combination East?”  She chuckled lightly slowly giving up on what she was looking for, at this point it didn’t matter, East said he was buying food and well, she was hungry.  While the Cheetos and cheese did sound pretty good, she didn’t want Soo Mi to have anything bad, as to Ai still breast feeding.  “I think I’ll pass on the munchies snack for now but you can buy me a Philly cheese steak.”

🌿     leave it to ai to inquire about his bathroom habits. scrunching up his face in disgust, east faked as though he was grossed out by her concern about how long he’d be on the toilet. “you can thank harley for that snack gem.” her passing on the snack was no big deal, especially when cheese steaks were brought into the equation. reaching up to push his messy locks back (revealing a rolled and strategically placed piece of paper behind his ear) east went about fishing around in his pocket for his keys with his free hand. “which place are we going to?” he knew of two that had cheese steaks that were bearable, but right now, the choice was ai’s.

if that was so then maybe they should eat some first and then eat cookies till they’d burst. truth was yael would eat everything in front of her until it’s gone. “then how about bbq chicken down the street, munch them as we head to the store. sounds adult enough.” she perked up, turning to walk backwards but just at the side of him when smiling before lowering her shoulders in a relaxed matter. “last months it’s been chill, work is ahead though.” yael turned on her heels to walk next to him, hands tucked away into the pockets of her military green jacket. talking about reign check was rarely something she did on her free time, she liked to keep things separate so she could just be normal. “so tell me, what messes have you been in lately? amuse me.”

🌿     east let her go about making indecisive decisions and he waited patiently while walking until she settled on one. a shrug and slight nod of indifference masked as approval was his initial response to her inquiry about chicken. tired eyes that were masked my layers of messy hair watched the woman as she walked and spoke. her response was so curt, it almost took him off guard. but alas, yael not wanting to talk abut her group was nothing new; that didn’t keep him from asking about them however. after all, it did seem to be a part of her life. but-- there was no saying that he wouldn’t get where she was coming from. a slight scoff at her words escaped his lips when she asked about his “messes”. as though that was all he was known and good for. “stop making it like there’s chaos everywhere i go. i’ve mostly been working in the studio with my boy. when we’re not kicking each other’s ass on the xbox, though.” it was true, that’s how he had spent his time for the past month or so. and he was pretty content for the time being.

🌿     messy locks fell in east’s eyes as he tried to keep his focus on the television while simultaneously pressing the right buttons on the controller in his hands. video game binging with seunnie was something usually reserved for sunday afternoons, but it seemed they had the free time today. or rather-- they were both procrastinating and had somehow wound up with controllers in their hands. but, it couldn’t hurt too much. after all, they had a club to head to later on in the night anyway, so who was going to fault them for taking a break before their nights got hellish. “yo, so-- what the hell man!” the sudden outburst was due to the fact that his friend had used an attack move on him, one that east had been trying to perfect for days, and ended that match. the sudden wave of frustration passed as quickly as it had come, though and east was back to picking a new character for the next round and back to the topic he had originally been planning to discuss. “anyway, so. you know that one girl i told you about? the one that won’t stop blowing up my phone? apparently she’s going tonight. and i’m just like...b r u h.”

🌿     "okay but, baby ma, hear me out--” east was currently following closely behind the petite woman as she led them out the back exit of the crown building. “--have you ever actually tried it before? it’s delicious. let’s get you some right now.” he was talking about his go-to munchies snack which consisted of hot cheetos with smothered in convenience store nacho cheese. and much like harley had told him when she introduced the snack to him, don’t knock it ‘til you try it. and while the main reason he was suggesting it was due to the fact that he actually did have the munchies right now, he wasn’t going to say anything. “or. or we can get that first and then i’ll pay for whatever kind of take out you want.” they were headed over to the squadrone studio and so food was going to be a plus over there anyway. “i’ll even drive.” and just like that he flashed his most charming smile in hopes of getting his way.

🌿     the sudden outburst and spike in volume caused east to look around a bit to make sure they hadn’t gathered an audience before turning back to the woman in front of him. granted, he had thought that everyone took to dealing with night life in their own beds. “uh– i dunno, i guess you could just eat them in the living room if that’s what you’re into, then.” honestly, to east, he didn’t much have a preference of where he ate his nachos. as long as they were fresh and he could netflix & chill with himself, but that was neither here nor there. “new topic, though.”

🌿     leaning his head beack, east’s eyes slipped close as he held a freshly rolled j between his lips. it seemed that late night sessions with one of his favourite people always ended like this (unless sonic was there, then it involved j’s and video games). “okay, but i did start this new show this morning right-- and i think i’m already addicted, it’s only four episodes.” these kinds of topics and pining were no new subject with him and cash seemed to always be the one to hear them. sitting up, he pulled the joint from his lips and held it out towards the other. “so-- were you serious when you said you had nothing to eat here?” he should have made his place the stop for tonight.

🌻     she didn’t know how to act. it was typical, of course, mia didn’t know how to act around most people – and if so, she acted in ways that could be easily muted by her surrounding. she has a quiet personality, easily blended in the background, not usually one that stuck to other people’s mind; she was thankful for that, sometimes. maybe with him, if she was different, she could’ve struck another type of reaction – she could’ve gotten something else other than just blush and stutter and get tangled in her own words, very much like she was doing at that moment. if she was different, maybe, she would’ve gotten his attention properly. but just for standing in the same room with him her heart beat widely inside her chest, how could she ever imagine anything else? she looked at the screen of her phone, that was waiving along with her hands. “ oh ? oh ! no, no ! i wasn’t… posting any selfies or anything – i mean, i was just looking at things, i– ” mia shook her head. how many times would she justify herself and fail painfully at that ? way too many apparently. she cleaned her throat, looking away for a second. “ i’m sorry, oppa. go home safely, i am sorry for getting in the way of your rest. ” she bowed again, ears burning.

🌿     east could almost smell her brain about to overheat from going into overdrive and trying to think of an excuse. he wondered if he really made the girl that nervous. he didn’t think of himself as an intimidating guy, but he guessed he would never really know what other people saw. no amount of trying to shake his head and cut her off seemed to work and eventually he was left with a mia whose ears were equally as red as his face was right now. it wasn’t that the action was unseen to him, it just seemed like one that he would never get used to. and in a situation like this one, it definitely made the action even more of an awkward situation for him. “uh--” looking around briefly for something that might be able to give him the right words to say, east finally just stepped forward and lifted her so that she wasn’t bowing anymore. “geeze, the dramatics with you girls. i know i’m good looking, but no need to bow down.” he laughed at his own words in hopes of lifting the mood and getting her to calm down. “i was teasing about what you were doing, but next time, you can tell anyone it’s none of their business what you’re doing on your phone. even if it’s me or one of the girls. but especially if it’s some other guy.” l

ooking down at his phone that was in his hand, east woke the screen to be able to see the time. “i was gonna leave, but i guess i can stay here a little longer. i’mma just be working on some stuff, but i can order pizza if you want. i think harley left her netflix on the tv earlier if you wanna use it.” leave it to him to offer use of someone else’s account.” he was also hoping that the prospect of him staying didn’t put her off. 

🌿     east had made a point to personally bring himself to the orchid dorm to ask nina for her assistance. and of course she was being mildly difficult. or-- was that the right way to put it? he wasn’t sure. heaving a huge sigh, the male allowed his body to fall into the one seat that was free (seeing that harley was sprawled out on the couch and taking a nap). “noona--” the word was said in such a tone that it almost sounded like east was about to try and belt out one of her famous notes. “i am asking for your help, yes. and just so you know, there’s something in it for you, too.” he sure wasn’t above bribing.

🌿     a look of faux hurt washed over east’s features as he took on an equally dramatic pose with his hand covering his chest. “i would never miss the food more than i miss you. i might miss you both equally, but never m o r e than you.” though that didn’t mean he was going to try to stop her if she wanted to feed him more often when she had the chance. rolling up the sleeves of his oversized sweater, east rested his chin on the table to get a better and up close look at what was inside one of the tupper ware containers. “is that-- kalguksu?!” it had been so long since east had eaten any and with it being summer, let’s just say he was having the ultimate craving. “talk about a lifesaver. my next song is going to be about the love of my life and stomach. you.”

yael raised her hand to pinch the bridge of her nose as she laughed again but only once this time before locking eyes to look at him. “don’t you think we are adults enough to decide of we can have cookies before dinner? we can do adulting now.” she said with a muffled laugh, finger swirling through the soft mist which he exhaled. these days she had to think twice as hard before acting out on things, she had been overly impulsive in the past which has caused her trouble and now she couldn’t afford trouble at all but it wouldn’t keep her from hanging out with friends and meeting new people. “unless you insist on us eating first before shoving cookies down our systems.”

🌿     an eyebrow raised in question as he looked down at her. “i know we’re adult enough, i was asking in a matter of what your preference was. i don’t care much either way.” he really didn’t, but that couldn’t be said for much, seeing that east’s eating habits weren’t exactly healthy. at least not always. blowing one last puff of vapor out into the air as they stood at the crossing light, east placed the pen back into his pocket. he’d return back to it later on in the night he was sure. ring clad fingers pushed his messy hair out his eyes as he looked over at yael once more. “so, fill me in. how’s the reign check life been treating you, huh?”

“but i demand us to get a package of soft and regular. it depends on my mood what i really crave after every two seconds.“ yael was super serious about her cookie and what she wanted, after all they had to be dipped into milk for an enhanced flavor. he pointed at him with a playful expression, her hair covering half her face as she attempted to brush it away. “got milk?“ lightly she fell backwards, she laughed and it couldn’t be helped though she nodded since she did actually have milk in her fridge and yael jumped up. “lets go get them cookies!“

🌿     "damn, demands. okay, ma. both it is.” thankfully he had already stood and was already on his way from their resting bench to the nearest convenience store. her actions however, were nothing short of expected and east’s eyes wrinkled in their usual way as he smiled back. he almost leaped forward to make sure she was good when she fell backwards, but he also knew that she was alright. with his hands stuffed into the pockets of his oversized hoodie, he only needed to wait a few moments before she was up and seemingly ready to lead the way. following close behind her, he pulled out his vape pen (thank god for the ones that used dry herb) and took a hit of it. “you don’t think we should get you some real food first and then the dessert?”
