You know how some shows do everything in their power to shock and surprise their audience? Our Flag Means Death also want to surprise the audience at all cost, but like. Pleasantly. Oh, I did not expect the two mains to actually get together and share an actual gay kiss. Oh, I did not expect the sunshine in our sunshine x malice couple to have this edge of occasional, well, malice. Oh, I did not expect Mary Read and Anne Bonny to be in a lesbian Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf. Oh, I did not expect the smartass soup stand owner to be the fucking Zheng Yi Sao herself. Oh, I did not expect Swede to find true hapiness in Spanish Jackie's harem of all places. Oh, I did not expect the curse of the suit to never manifest itself, and instead the punchline to be that Stede has to literally force his drip on someone else. Oh, I did not expect Buttons to turn to- Actually nvm that one's the most logical endgame any character in any show ever received. Obviously not everything always goes well, because that would be boring, but so many surprises in this show are actually nice or at least fun, one can't help but love it for that.

U need to hear this but wearing masks, regular testing/disinfection, lock down r supposed to be inconvenient. We’re still in a global pandemic. People still lose their lives because of covid everyday. They get long term health declines because of covid too. It’s supposed to be inconvenient. Pretending covid is “over” doesn’t make it go away :/
