Its funny how some things never change. Its even funnier how things you thought would never change, do.

I’m not in love with you anymore.

I don’t think about you as much anymore.

I stopped missing you.

But I still find myself lost in thoughts about you sometimes. I’ll go days and weeks without thinking about you, and all of a sudden, one day, it’ll hit me once again. Like a bullet through the chest, I lose feeling in my body. I’ve been numb since you told me you don’t love me anymore. No more tears. No more anger. No more feelings. Nothing. Just numb. You aren’t my priority anymore. Although, in my dreams, you seem to be. You seem to have a habit of showing up and always telling me you love me. I wish you still did. My dreams feels so real when you’re in it and I can’t stand it. Never did I think that I would ever be able to stop loving you, but here I am. Alive and happy. Alive and breathing. It feels so freeing and amazing to not be held down with thoughts of you all the time. But I won’t ever be able to erase you from my heart and mind. You are embedded inside of me. Sometimes it still hurts. Sometimes I’ll get a familiar ache in my chest and know its because of you. I believe you were my soulmate, still are. Not everyone that is meant to be, ends together, though. I believe that if we met when we were older, we would have been able to make it work. Who knows, maybe we shall meet in ten years and we do end up together. But it doesn't matter. We are not in love anymore. Once you fall in love for the first time, you can’t fall in love in the same way. It’s just how it goes. I’ll always wonder about you. You’ll always be my ‘what if’. And there will always be a part of me that wishes we worked out. I’ve accepted it though. I’ve taught myself that it’s okay to let go of something that you’ll always want. Even though it took us three years, I think we can finally say that we’re both happy now. We were just too miserable for each other because we were head over heels for each other. That’s just how things go sometimes.
