Features morphing from shock to rage she stared at him, as if that would change the situation or bring back some semblance of her Cael. But no, he was all hardness, all pain and all hurt. “We mean more than you realise.” Fliss hissed, Freyja echoing in her voice as she continued. “I won’t give in the same way you’re doing. I am no coward. I am no heartless creature that leaves his fellows to die!”

His eyes squinted together at her harsh words. She spoke truth, and he knew it for he spoke them every day himself for a long while. Normally the words would have infuriated him, or Ares, but neither raised their voice. "I thought that too once."

The anger that dashed through her as he moved away made her furrow her brow, her hand clenching into a fist as she took a step back. Why would he do this now .. “We’re part of this war you know .. we can’ just get up and leave when people we love are falling around us!” Her voice came out a lost harsher, colder than intended but she couldn’t keep back the hurt that stuck in her throat. “I’m a nurse, a care giver, it’s what I do and I can’t leave my charges. And in case you forgot, I have this whole other entity that lives in me that’s tied to this place!”

"No, you are none of that." He spat, turning his head to look at her again. "We're all puppets in a war that isn't ours. What roles do the Greek and Norse have? This is all about the Egyptians and the Natives, it's time you should realize that."

Sighing, she looked up at him with soft but firey eyes, outstreching a hand to lay on his cheek. “I know .. I know .. but I’ll be fine. I promise you.” It wasn’t her promise to give but it was all she could say.

He moved his face away, just in time to prevent her from touching him. In her absence, he had hoped she had thought better and had left. It had been easier for him, now he had this to battle with. "Don't make promises you cannot keep." He spoke, shrugging his hands in his pockets. "You should get Felix and go to your parents or wherever. Just out of Vancouver."

And you mean to terrify me or scare me off with this information? …

It should. Everyone is dropping like flies. Don't wait around until you do too. 

"I need to pick who you’re going to spar against first."

"Ah. I just picked the wrong one, didn't I?"

"Landis. It’s Landis. So, do you prefer blondes or gingers?"

"Preferably. Brunettes. But if I had to choose. Blondes. Why?"

“‘Men’ is one word for it, but I wouldn’t say that to their faces. Well you’re going to have to train, then, aren’t you?”

"I was thinking the same thing, Sir."

"So if I set you up with one of mine, you’ll be able to fight them without a problem?"

"If they're your men, I might say they're better in combat than I am. I learned it on the streets. So it wouldn't be without a problem."
