Neverafter Rapunzel and Cinderella in the new world… freak for freak besties…

It’s so fun fleshing out characters into something that personally excites you.

I’d love a witch!Rapunzel who hates witches. She maybe ritually stole her mother’s magic. She jumped out of the tower herself and knowingly landed in the thorny bushes. She cut her hair but made sure to leave the bottom long… she’s pragmatic and hateful and ever-happy to placate until she can let go of her facade.

In the new world, she might just fully leave her story. No origin, no morally grey parents, and no prince. She goes the Stepmother route and becomes a protagonist in Cinderella’s setting. She’s an ordinary girl with a loving family and magical hair from a magical vegetable garden. She goes on an adventure with her friends.

I really wanted to find some angle to make og Cinderella unhinged, but I think it’s fine if she’s just a kind person in a cruel world, feeling limited and unmade by a world of destiny and fate. It’d be real fun if she was a fairy switched at birth though… she has an otherworldly beauty — the prince falls in love at first sight. Maybe she learned of her changeling status, but refused to join the fairies, and a fairy granted her one wish. Maybe she finds out later that this wish-granting fairy godmother was the one who switched her at birth.

Procrastinating final studying by doing fanart 😭 (Neverafter Rapunzel and Cinderella... the chokehold… how are they gonna live in the new world, how do they feel about restarting?)

Genuinely I feel so compelled by Rapunzel. The idea of a girl raised in a tower by a witch. Sweet-talking, placating, but deeply angry and resentful of witches?? Please tell me more.

Rapunzel and Snow White have to be my favourite kinds of freak cuz they’re the same brand of angry and spiteful and hateful under a veneer of princess charm.

But Cinderella? She’s a knight in shining armour. She stabbed her godmother with her gifted glass slipper?? I have no clue how she feels about the Stepmother… but the birds sure did peck out their eyes. She’s genuinely empathetic and understanding with Rosalind. She could be family w Pinocchio. Smth about her could be sooo interesting to me specifically if we got to see a bit more of her absolutely unhinged side. I need to know what makes her a freak.

The art was just messing around w reference-less posing until I realized I could make fanart and overlay characters… but now I’m tempted to actually design post-ending, new start Rapunzel and Cinderella.

I love Yoshino so so much 😭 at first I thought it was just because I like when girls get to be tanks in fiction, but I think it’s more about tenacity as a trait, and not having a narrative impose sympathy? Like when Zoro’s getting beat by Kuma, the narrative is framed to have the audience admire his conviction, tenacity, and ability to take damage.

I spammed Yaelokre to finally sit down and finish drawing but I’m rlly happy w/ my results! (Harpy Hare fits so well??) I was fleshing out a villain oc based on Catherine the Great and found 2 similar paintings after Antropov and Roslin and thought it would be cool to draw her old and young, with higher and lower contrast, light behind and before her. It was genuinely so cool actually finishing my drawings and rendering clothes??

I was trying to come up w/ a villain for the sapphic isekai Sibs and I r working on and basically ended up doing Catherine the Great unchanged? Little tweaks here and there but so much of her history works so so well for interpersonal drama.

Smth smth mother of the crown prince, gentle face, ruthless. An empress whose innovation lead the country to great fortune, but whose policies grew increasingly regressive in old age. She cares for her son in a way but wants to keep him from amassing political power or entering court. The conflict w/ the MCs come from trying to marry him off to a loyal vassal family. She's deeply paranoid about him overthrowing her as he grows up, and talks down to him while saying everything is for his sake. He would grow up knowing that she overthrew his father, hearing rumours that he’s illegitimate and that she ordered his father’s death. I think it'd be fun if she very much resented her dead husband for having everything given to him, never working hard, and almost bankrupting the country, but a part of her is sympathetic from living together as foreigners in this country since they were 14. She didn't kill her husband but she was certainly very relieved that he died. Where once she lead a bloodless coup, her increasing ruthlessness in politics bleeds into her personal life as her son's more legitimate bloodline makes him a threat to her rule. I'm still undecided how much she cares for her son and what his vibe will be in the plot.

Was absolutely obsessed with Ankarna as a mountain summer rage god turned fiend. Absolutely taken by the idea of pulsing blood pumped so hard in your body that it crystallizes after you can’t sustain the rage anymore and combust!! The conquest and new vibes from episode 13 kinda change my old headcanons but I drew this before and still love the concept.

I sketched up a more rural, strong, divine mountain goddess with goat inspiration (herding goats = summer mountain???) and immediately thought she would look so cool corrupted. The idea of this massive, divine, mountainous body eating itself, turned skeletal - rage consuming and destroying the physical self - seemed so cool. The mountain goat worked rlly well for a fiend form too and I just could not stop drawing until my idea was executed.
