It's a plaid, plaid world

I wrote it in a notebook that somebody let me borrow– “Don’t use all the paper, please, and if you could, bring it back to me tomorrow.” It was a fair request, and I was grateful for the loan. I had to jot a thought down I came up with on my own.

Autumn’s ashes, summer’s embers on the sidewalk come September; Suddenly I can’t remember any lessons learned. Now that I’m a migrant picker; trouble-minded tin can kicker, I wish my skin was thicker; the air has turned.

This is all part of the plan, look, I’m a god more than a man; Now I’m a god, I don’t give a damn about my soul. Now, buddy, if you think I look rough, you should see the fool at the other end of the deal. Write me a law and I’ll rise above it, give me hell and I’ll make a hell of a deal. The torment is fake, the glory is real.
