Okay, congratulations, a thigh gap AND a vintage Chanel backpack.  I ate an entire pint of ice cream last night, so suck on that.....

All that talk about Bill Cunningham led me on a pretty intensive search of one of his On The Street sections that featured only backpacks, and I couldn't find any! Perhaps my love affair with these practical yet (at times) fashionable bags isn't as universal as I hoped it would be. But I didm find this recent online spread of backpacks around the world, Enjoy! (And plz let me know if you see a Bill Cunningham On The Street article featuring backpacks as it will have to be framed over my bed immediately)

I used to be embarrassed to admit it, but my favorite (and sometimes only read) section of the NY Times is the Sunday Styles.  Now that I am a struggling 20 something wannabe writer/comedian/fashion queen about town, and don't live with my parents, I don't get the times anymore, but my parents still save the styles section and give me a whole pile of them when I see them.  Although it doesn't have a ton to do with backpacks, more just fashion and an extremely interesting and at times lonely man, everyone should check out Bill Cunningham New York, the documentary about the man who legitimized street style as worthy of documentation.

Throwback Thursday to when-KANYE WEST COULDN'T TAKE OFF HIS BACKPACK FOR PICTURE DAY! HE HAS ALWAYS BEEEN A TRUE FAN!

Clear backpacks:  Created because of school shootings, but a thing again?  Or is that just gross to bring them back?  The way the bottoms of my bags look, these would quickly become opaque instead of clear.....

Quality leather is like a fine wine; it ages well (or so I'm told, I pretty much only drink vodka and that is never around me long enough to age).  Coach brand knows leather, and magically finding a vintage coach backpack at a thrift shop is like experiencing a solar eclipse-it only happens once or twice in a lifetime.  Okay, I know if you look on Etsy or Ebay there are zillions of these bad boys for sale, but I need a space to share the tale of when I went to my local thrift store on HALF OFF DAY and, in the racks of purses (not behind the counter where they normally put higher end brands) I found a vintage coach leather sling backpack, with it's official brand tag and all.  I felt like I needed to check out and flee as quickly as I could before everyone realized that I had beat the system! When I got home to tell my roommates, they weren't all too impressed with my find as they don't share my passion for backpacks and brand names, but now I finally have an outlet to share the good news.  Oh, did I mention it only cost $6!

That's a surefire way to get a hump on your back....Happy humpback from Baby got Backpac! (Keep it light!)
