if I had a nickel for every time there was a tv adaptation of a book series where a European man who has a traumatic backstory involving the killing and consumption of human beings, a less that appropriate relationship with an older maternal figure, and a soft spot for music begins a manipulative seduction of a man from Louisiana that includes trying to get him to not only also participate in the killing of other people, but also wants the other man to enjoy it the way he enjoys it, and also includes baby trapping him by basically adopting a traumatized girl who was orphaned due to the Louisiana man’s actions, until, during a season finale, multiple people are injured or killed in a deadly confrontation between the two men as the Louisiana man is conflicted about whether he wants to free himself from the European man’s influence or submit to his dark love and murderous lifestyle, followed by the next season being a European adventure where the Louisiana man is haunted by a vision of someone who he feels guilty about killing/being unable to protect…
