It's funny how things change. How we grow up. How believing a person could connect, how having hope that we have a new friend, keeps us on edge, probably waiting for a better message than just a "haha", waiting for a conversation to happen. Not being the one to keep things going. We let go. We hold on. To hopes. Aren't we at fault somewhere? You don't even know, they could be waiting for you. Or they don't know what you have in store for them. Then, days come when we probably hate these very people, or don't remember them at all. Move on, the world has taught us. There's a lot of population, india has taught us. Find that connection elsewhere, you never know what you don't have. Just please try keeping control of what you already have? Choose your flaws wisely?
The only thing you wanna know is, 5 years down the line, will I be proud of this decision? Coz regrets, are not acceptable. Remember to spoil nothing. You never know how coincidence works.

I am ridiculously fat. To share some numbers my body has 26.5% fat which should be below 20%. My BMI is 29 which should be below 24. So finally I have decided to do something. Nobody is believing in me. But thatâs absolutely understandable given the fact that I love food and I eat a lot. I have a food-curious mind. I love to eat. I can not resist my self when I see something which I have never eaten before. So it has always been a tough journey because you never see the results immediately. And Indian food is very tasty as well as high calories. Hence I have been struggling ever since.
But now letâs change things a bit. I am going to change my diet. In fact I have already changed it. I have stopped eating cookies, bread, burgers and even pizza :( Still a long way to go.Â
To be honest I have no idea whether I will be able to shed even 1 kg or not. But letâs try and to keep myself motivated I will be cooking a healthy dish once in two days and post it over here. I can not compromise on taste but neither on calories now. Letâs see how far it goes.Â
P.S. : I am not ashamed of being fat. Fat people are good people. Loving food is not sin as well. But being healthy and living long to have more food is very motivating.
Opinion: A view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.
This is what you get when you first google search the word âopinionâ, and it says it all!
Opinions prevent you from exploring. They affect you to your core. If you think about it, sometimes they even silence your inner voice. They break your deepest beliefs. But yet we resort to opinions; opinions from others. Why is that so?
Because we are scared. We are scared of failure. That is what life has been preaching to us since the day we were born. To strive to be successful. Be successful at everything that we attempt to do. And our success is often reasoned and gauged very objectively in terms of a few parameters. Humans, over the years, have created some metrics to gauge your success. Money, time and the duration of your relationships, to name a few. I often wonder who started this? Who was the visionary who decided to take the responsibility of measuring someoneâs/somethingâs worth on their shoulders? Because of this man, we are here trying to live our entire lives running and struggling to optimise these metrics to measure success. Where is the joy of exploration? Why do we always have to âsucceedâ? Why canât we just live our lives the way we want?
Rivers are called mothers in Indian culture and they are worshipped. Because they provide us water for farming, drinking etc. But somewhere in becoming so called âmodernâ we are forgetting our values. People are following western culture without thinking. It does not mean that western culture is not good or it is not a good fit for India. But it has its own place. You can not divide culture into fragments and take a few bits you like. Itâs a whole entity. What we should do is take ideas and try to incorporate them in our own culture rather than blindly copying it.

Are girls different from boys? I believe they are. âFeministsâ might take it in a wrong way. But that does not mean that women can not do what men can do. I believe that feminism has become more of an ego issue rather than non-discrimination. Male and Female are genetically engineered differently. I mean since ages in different cultures male and female are doing different jobs. Men used to go and hunt whereas women used to stay home and take care of children as well as household. But that does not mean women could not hunt. Rather their body and mind was not accustomed to it. Same as male were not accustomed to taking care of babies or doing household chores. So some pseudo-feminist might argue that women were not allowed to do the work of âmenâ and they might say that the situation is no different today. Feminism is not about what women can do and what women can not do physically or mentally. It is about not stopping or not disallowing women to do what they want to do. For example itâd be always better if labour jobs are done by men rather than women. But at the same time if a woman comes and says that she wants to do the job then no one should forbid her. That is what feminism is rather than forcing the belief that every woman can do every kind of job.
Freedom and equal rights are things we should care about.Â
One fine sunny day, lush green lettuce woke up to the morning breeze. Of course in the bottom drawer of the refrigerator. Wished good morning to carrots, broccoli and cabbage. The cabbage who looked like him, felt like him and also was crunchy. Lettuce finished his morning choir and was ready to be part of the sandwich of Elizabeth. Because yesterday only Elizabeth had picked it up at the Food-Mart telling it âI am gonna have you tomorrow with whole grain bread and my favorite cheese.â Lettuce was all happy was eagerly looking at the closed door. Elizabeth opens the door, takes the cheese then goes to the bottom drawer and picks up the cabbage. Lettuce gets damp and disappointed. He rolls around in the drawer in sadness and anger. Anger because he couldnât understand why he couldnât be the part of the sandwich. He rolls and rolls. Then half flower broccoli comes to the drawer. She sees the lettuce and inquires what happened. After knowing the whole thing, broccoli tells the lettuce that she heard Elizabethâs mom telling her that cabbage has more nutrients and she should eat it. Also mother said that she had brought the cabbage first. Lettuce was furious at this reason. He had done his Masters in Veggiology at the prestigious University of Organo at Olive Land. He knew that thereâs no significant difference between him and that pale cabbage. Heâs rather more green and how does it matter who came first. He rolled and rolled in anger again.
By definition vadapav is nothing but a potato-patty kinda thing called âvadu/vadaâ between a bun. But to me itâs a whole experience. Anyone can make vadapav at home but what I am talking about is the satisfaction and love you get at the tthela.
If youâve got 10 Rs. ka fata note and 40 seconds of time before Virar Fast arrives at the platfor :Â 9 3/4. TADA : Vadapav is your savior. And what happens in thos 40 seconds is as follows : Â gentleman or the lady takes out a pav (bun) from the bag and tore opens it with his/her hands (totally unhygienic). Puts a vada and some masala in it. and Gives it to you. Satisfaction, love, happiness in less than 40 seconds.Â
Traditional lasagna is way different from this one. But the best thing about lasagna is you can do bunch of variations in layers. From ricotta to beef...anything. As an indian bhaaji of pav-bhaji would be my first choice (Might not taste good though). Â But I really loved this combination.
So total 3 layers of stuffing and 4 layers of pasta plus a layer of sauce and cheese (usually white sauce)
->Tomato Sauce :
Make puree of 3-4 tomatoes. Take a pan. Heat butter or oil and add 2 cups of finely chopped onions. Let them become translucent. Add salt, 1-2 cloves of garlic and 1 tsp ginger, add tomato puree. Then add spices : chilli powder, jeera, garam masala. Also you can add fresh green chillis. Add water to get it as consistent as tomato ketchup. Add oregano, basil, rosemerry and whatever herbs you like.
-> First Layer : Heavy layer Iâd say.
Take a pan. Add butter or oil. Add chopped onions and let them become translucent. Then add salt, little bit of garlic, chilli powder, garam masala(Yes Iâm indian and I love spices). Stir it and let it cook for a minute or two. Then add whatever beans you like. I added kidney beans and chickpea. Add little water and let it cook with lid on for 5-7 Â minutes so that beans get all the flavours. And thatâs your first layer.
-> Second Layer : Simple yet tasty.
This one is simple one. Itâs just stir fried veggies. Take a flat, little deep and large pan. Add butter and let it simmer. Then add lemon and let it cook for around 10-15 seconds. Then add veggies : Green Bell Pepper, Sliced Onions, French Beans, Carrots, Corn, Cabbage, Broccoli. Add salt and herbs. Stir fry it for around 5-7 minutes, until theyâre tender or soft and has that little brownish touch on edges. Thatâs it.
-> Third Layer : Subtle one
Take a bowl. Add a cup of sour cream and a cup or may be 0.75 of a cup of cream-cheese or cheese spread. And add finely...very finely chopped coriander or cilantro and mix it.Â
->Final stepÂ
Take a oven-pan. Spread some of tomato sauce. Put the first layer of pasta then put first layer of stuffing which is of beans. Add some tomato sauce. Then second layer of pasta. Veggies on that and add tomato sauce. Then one more layer of pasta and over it cream-cheese-coriander layer. No tomato sauce on this one. Add final layer of pasta and over the top add some white sauce which is optional. Then add cheese. Bake until cheese is bubbly.
P.S. : Cook Lasagna pasta as instructed on the packet. Usually let them cook in boiling water for around 10-12 minutes. Until they are soft enough to be torn apart by heavy knife without much force. White sauce is nothing but roasted all purpose flour, little milk and cheese.
This post is about two great human beings and their friends. In 21 years of being on this earth I never celebrated Thanksgiving. I mean itâs not the part of culture from where I come. But I do know what festival holidays mean. Itâs about being with your loved ones and your family and friends. When youâre away from your family in some other country these festivals become just few days off the work. Itâs not the case when you have people like Pam Robinson-Cook and Steve Cook on this earth. Imagine hosting 100-120 people at your place, cooking food for them. Itâs tough. But itâs not about the food or anything like that. Itâs about being with the people, itâs about enjoying their company, feeling happy in hosting them and making them feel that thereâs a family here too.
Pam and Steve help people in  ton of ways from helping them with moving their furniture to teaching them how to buy smartly at grocery stores. This is something different. I reckon they have been hosting thanksgiving lunch since 20-25 years. May be more than that. Steve told me that one day Pam came home and told him that there are students who are here away from family during these holidays and it all started. To give you materialistic view there were 4 tables full of food. From entree to dessert. There was a volley ball net, soccer ball and cricket balls and bat. As I said earlier itâs not about the food or anything . Itâs about happiness of being together, happiness of being with family. Itâs impossible to describe happiness which I saw in the eyes of Pam and Steve. Happiness which came from seeing bunch of students playing in their backyard, satisfaction from questions regarding her grandmaâs recipe, joy from seeing people eating on tables outside her house and laughing with each other.
I have a lot to say. When I thought about posting this I had lot of thoughts but probably itâs impossible to pen down my thoughts or feelings. But few things for  sure if I ever get married I want me and my wife to be like Pam and Steve. Their love is amazing. I bet youâd smile when you see them together. Earth still has got people like Pam and Steve. And I am gonna be there on every thanksgiving. :DÂ

Just read a quote âThe dumbest thing ever to do is not to spend life with the person you loveâ. What is love? Love is something when youâre terrified to lose someone. Love is fearless. Love is boundless. Then why are we afraid of taking a step? Why do we still wanna go with someone chosen by our parents who does not know us completely? Itâd be disrespectful to say that parents are wrong. But also itâd be disrespectful to our own self that parents are always right. They are as much human being as we are, they are equally likely to make mistakes. Then why are we ready to go ahead with their decision? Just because later on if something goes wrong we can blame them? Whyâre we so afraid to trust ourselves?
Parents are the best thing that can happen to a human being. We donât live in utopia but most of the parents want only one thing in life, happiness of their child. Initially reluctant, theyâd eventually understand us. Itâs insult of them if we can not share what we feel. We can always blame Indian society for not being able to talk about sex, rape, alcohol, drugs, relationships etc. But probably fault lies in the home only. We are too afraid of our society, starting with the parents. Why to care about what Rameshbhai thinks? Btw Rameshbhai is the guy who lives in the house two floors above you and spits pan-masala on the wall. What is more important, answering questions of colleagues in the office about your son in law or a goodnight sleep because of the fact that your daughter is more happy with that âlow-casteâ guy. May be higher-caste guy couldâve order lasagna or ravioli every other day. But itâd not bring a smile and burrp which happens after eating dal-chawal with that âjala hua tadkaâ. And to tell you the truth âslow-cooked rice with yellow lentils and burnt butter spicesâ is the other name for that smile-bringing dish. Itâs about what you feel and how you see it. Be honest with yourself.
Remember they told you change was the only constant? Our parents might've been scared of getting addicted to TV. Cars. Flights. Trains. Books, Newspaper. Everything has faced these changes. Embrace that change. Embrace phones. The new online payment systems. Change is unprecedented. It's like the sudden silence in a crowded room, or a chair screeching in a silent one. None are unpleasant. Just surprising. Realise, that this is the time to put your lessons to work.

Why is it so importantâwhat others have done? Why does it become sacred by the mere fact of not being your own? Why is anyone and everyone rightâso long as itâs not yourself? Why does the number of those others take the place of truth? Why is truth made a mere matter of arithmeticâand only of addition at that? Why is everything twisted out of all sense to fit everything else?
