He’s a non-playable character but they’re the same person, just from different points in the timeline. Younger Cable never tried to kill him so please don’t reference that arc, thank you! megan, as usual, stuck out like a sore thumb. she never had any qualms with her mutant or fae heritage (she actually embraced them fully,) but she knew both the pointed ears, pink hair and the iridescent rainbow wings seemed to draw many eyes, especially when a passer-by seemed to run into them by accident. “i know i take up a little more space than other people, but please be mindful!” she says kindly, “my wings do feel like the rest of my body.”

Nathan doesn’t like seeing anyone get mistreated. Maybe it’s just the upbringing of always looking different from everyone else that influenced him to protect other Mutants.  He’s standing next to Megan when someone seems to run into her wings. She’s kind but Nathan doesn’t have any problem stepping forward to the stranger to say something. “Hey! Maybe you should spend less time on your phone and keep an eye on the world around you.” He squints while they walk away but calms down before turning back to the other. “Are you hurt? Do you want to get out of here?” The area is a little crowded now. There’s too many people in New York.

blue  eyes  catch  the  gaze  of  another,  quick  to  make  an  assumption  as  alex  gestures  to  his  patched  up  arm  in  a  plastered  cast  and  a  dark  blue  sling.    ❛  what,  this  ?  shocked  to  see  an  x-man  in  a  cast  ?  ❜    a  smile  pulls  at  the  corner  of  his  lips,  cheeks  dimpled  as  the  blonde  nods  his  head  in  reassurance.    ❛  it’s  just  a  broken  bone.  there’s  no  way  i’ll  be  in  it  for  longer  than  a  month.  ❜   granted,  (  andperhaps  surprisingly,  given  his  innate  inability  to  keep  his  powers  under  control  )  alex  hasn’t  been  in  many  casts  in  his  lifetime.  he  assumes  it’ll  be  as  simple  as  a  walk  in  the  park  …  as  a  plus,  the  plaster  does  a  pretty  good  job  of  making  him  feel  like  he’s  got  a  weapon  on  his  arm  !

         ‘  it  usually  depends  on  the  amount  of  people  around  -  ’   she  deadpans  ,   not  that  talking  about  her  powers  to  another  is  normal  -  but  you  don’t  often  meet  someone  else  who  has  the  same  powers  .    ‘  mine  didn’t  come  out  until  i  was  a  teenager  and  both  parents  mia  .  ’   not  to  mention  she  was  raised  by  her  foster  mom  ,   so  .

harry had been coming to this bodega since he started going to empire university, and it quickly became a favorite spot of his. the long hours it operated were perfect when he needed a late-night energy boost or a pre-game chaser, plus the cashiers didn’t seem to judge his purchases out loud. needless to say he was familiar enough to step in when someone began to reach out towards the tabby cat napping atop a tower of beer boxes. “i wouldn’t do that if i were you,” harry chimed in matter-of-factly. “queenie only likes customers who share their purchases with her.”

It’s still strange settling into somewhere meant to be modern but just ended up feeling ancient due to being from a distant point in the future. He stepped into one of the bodega and was having a look around. He lived in the area and wanted to see what they have to offer. He liked exploring and it seems they have a lot more to offer here than Nathan originally expected. There are many different types of snacks and beverages to try out. He noticed a cat asleep in the store which is odd but also sweet? He reached out towards it with his flesh hand but someone approaches him to stop him. “So Queenie will bite me if I tried to pet her?” He takes a step back, crossing both arms across his chest for a moment. “What kind of purchases does she like?”

❝ they sure do. i got lucky though, i think. talked to people like us, got to brace for it before i really started going out in public, after. i still almost hit the first guy. ❞ he says it ruefully, a little bit humorous, smile tugging at his lips. as nice as he is, he’s also trained to fight since he was a teenager. it’s always going to be the first, automatic instinct. maybe he should be less comfortable with that than he is, but he’s not sure that he could change it if he wanted to, & he doesn’t really want to. ❝ roy. it’s nice to meet you. ❞

Phoebe narrows her eyes as the other mutant steps closer. She doesn’t tell him to stop or move back though. No instead she has to wonder just for a moment how far he’ll go just for her. If this really is all true and Nathan has somehow decided she’s the one he likes being with the most. The most boring out of the five. Her sisters all seem to have something breaking them apart from the rest. Sophie was the natural born leader, Esme the strongest, Celeste being picked by the Phoenix force to stop Sublime and Mindee being Emma’s favorite. Just about the only thing Phoebe felt she had going for her was an attitude, though all the sisters seem to have that. So that tops out to Phoebe having just about nothing that makes her stand apart from the rest of her sisters. So Phoebe has to wonder what’s in it for him? “Please – I doubt you could outdo the night you had with Celeste.” A small bit of a laugh his given. He’d gone above and beyond there, thought it really wouldn’t have been Phoebe’s taste anyway. She’s never been all that big into spending an extended amount of time around humans. The restaurant alone would be enough to piss Phoebe off for the night. “It was some big party the Avengers threw for everyone. Even us mutants were invited. How lucky we are.” It’s clear she’s be sarcastic, voice thick with annoyance at even the idea of any x-men mingling among the avengers. Her nose crinkles a bit at the thought, humans and avengers alike rub Phoebe the wrong way. So when Nathan offers to get her away from both? Well… even Phoebe can’t say no. “Couldn’t stand them before, but after what they did to Fabio I can hardly even look at them.” She almost snarls at the thought, thinking of when the humans attacked Goldballs when they found out he was mutant. “So, where do you plan on taking me that’s human free?” As she speaks her fingers intertwine with Nathan’s.

jean  is  taken  back  at  the  word  ‘  mom  ’,  almost  positive  that  she’s  heard  the  boy  wrong  until  the  words  ‘  i’m  your  son  ’  fall  behind  it.  and  she’s  still  for  a  moment,  emerald  hues  gazing  upon  the  other  in  uncertainty.  she  knows  it  explains  the  familial  feeling  she  has  with  the  other,  a  part  of  her  subconscious  reassuring  the  mutant  that  he’s  telling  the  truth.  but  the  other  part  of  her  is  hesitant,  almost  unwilling  to  believe  that  she  and  scott  have  a  family  together  in  the  future,  a  son.  even  if  nathan  wasn’t  birthed  from  jean,  he  was  still  apart  of  her  and  the  waves  of  energy  that  drifted  between  the  two  confirmed  it  true.  “  i’ve  heard  of  you.  ”  she  finally  says,  taking  a  step  towards  nathan.  she  wants  to  reach  out  and  embrace  him  but  she’s  unsure,  resulting  in  her  offering  him  a  gentle  smile  instead.  “  it  is  good  to  finally  meet  you.  ”

“Nobody likes time travel or the year we’re currently stuck in.” While 2012 hadn’t been the worst year for Esme, there’s something about being stuck in that irks her. She cocks her head to the side, eyes narrowing at Nathan’s next words. “Implies what exactly? And I be super careful with your next words if I were you.” The threat is subtle, barely there, but she can’t have anyone knowing that she’s jealous of anyone or anything. Especially when it concerns her sisters. Until the look is dropped, if she’s going to play this part she’ll do it well. “It depends on what you had in mind.”

“I don’t really mind it but only when  my hand is on the dial deciding where to go. I’m not a fan of this shit . . . someone else controlling my fate.” It pisses him off but Nathan keeps his irritation in check. It won’t do him any good when they don’t know who exactly is the one deserving of his wrath. He doesn’t have any problems punching an Avenger if needed. His eyes widen for a moment, alright, poor choice of words! “Did I say that you were implying something? I meant that it looks like it might start raining.” He gestures vaguely to the clouds in the sky before grinding back at Esme. “Well we could go somewhere to be alone . . . .” He takes a step closer to her, reaching out to move a stand of Esme’s blond hair behind her ear.

 there  was  no  doubt  in  hope’s  mind  that  everything  that  he  said  was  right,  he  was  her  father,  she  felt  it  in  the  familiarity  of  his  presence  and  in  his  eyes  and  his  distinguished  features.  it  did,  however,  it  feel  strange  to  have  him  standing  in  front  of  her  so  young,  different  from  the  man  he  will  grow  into  that  she  knows  from  his  later  years,  a  part  of  her  feels  like  this  is  an  incredible  opportunity,  to  know  her  dad  in  a  different  way  know  what  he  was  like  when  he  was  younger.  the  other  part  knows  how  contrasting  their  dynamic  would  end  up  being.  she  smiles  as  he  speaks,  her  gaze  locks  on  his  and  she  nods  “  i  know,  ”  she  assures  him  “  it’s  just  something  that  needs  some  getting  used  to.  ”  hope  is  slightly  taken  aback  from  his  request,  in  a  good  way  if  anything,  if  she  had  to  call  him  by  his  name  she  would  be  making  a  lot  of  slip  ups  “  no  problem  then,  dad  it  is.  ”  she  grins,  it  takes  her  a  moment,  she  looks  at  him,  she  feels  a  little  awkward  as  she  knows  she  would  have  thrown  herself  in  for  a  hug  at  this  point  if  he  was  at  the  age  she  knew  him  best,  so  after  some  debate  she  does  just  that.  with  a  step  closer  to  him  hope  wraps  her  arms  around  his  waist,  a  little  more  awkward  than  she  anticipated  and  looks  up  at  him  “  i  missed  you.  whatever  version  you  are.  ”  she  chuckles  and  pulls  back  “  oh  yeah,  wrinkles.  it’s  from  all  the  brow  furrowing  and  serious  looks,  ”  she  mimics  what  she  thought  was  a  great  older  nathan  look  “maybe  this  time  around  you  can  refrain  from  it.”  the  younger  mutant  shrugs  “  i  do,  it’s  cool.  hip,  really  dad  ?  you  meet  me  and  suddenly  you  have  to  have  father  vocab  ?  ”

There are several similarities between the two versions of Nathan that exist now. While they’re both cynical on some level, he’s filled with more hope than the old man.  Which definitely has something to do with spending less time in the apocalyptic future. He was fairly young in comparison, many decades between them in terms of experiences. Which leaves Nathan in this point in his life more likely to being kinder toward other people. Which isn’t to say that he still isn’t rough around the edges because he is and isn’t afraid to let his anger burst from the seams. He wasn’t for everyone and that doesn’t bother him any. His daughter seems to love him and nothing else matters right now.  “You can take all the time you need getting used to this. I can let you know where I’ll be staying once I find an apartment. There’s beensomething wrong with all the ones I’ve looked at.” He chuckles a little at his words. Which all boils down to not liking the other tenants in the building. He doesn’t easily trust though so that’s his fault. Nathan smiles when Hope seems to be okay with calling him dad. The way it makes him feel a happiness unlike any other. The old man told him some stories to prepare him for this moment. He’s surprised by the sudden hug but not for long. He keeps his feet planted on the ground, making sure not to stumble backward  when their bodies collide. His arms wrapping around her for a tight embrace. “No need to miss me anymore when I’m right here.” His hands gently rubbing her back reassuringly, and kisses the top of her head before they pull away from the interaction. “I do enjoy my serious expressions so it might just be something I’m doomed to have unless I start using wrinkle cream now.” He teases gently but another laugh leaves his lips.  “I have a lifetime of dad humor to catch up on! I’ll try not to do it too much. How long have you been in 2012, sweetheart?”

as much as he’d like to say the same, scott was never great with faces, or names, for that matter. “scott lang,” he introduced himself. the name wasn’t at all familiar. despite not being good with names, he knew he hadn’t met him before. “not you so much as the arm. sounds stupid when i say it out loud,” he laughed.

it was probably stupid, but anna wanted to believe that there was good in the world. arguably, she’d experienced enough to know there was limited good in the world, but she chose not to let it make her jaded. it made her feel better. “i like to take strange as a compliment,” she said with a wink. “i get it, sugah. it’s not easy being different like we are,” she said, her tone more serious, a sympathetic smile accompanying her words. “i wish i could say they didn’t, but usually, yeah.” 

hope’s life had been the furthest from normal and simple, running since she was a baby till she had some sort of stability in her teenage years only to be pulled back to 2012 now. between all of that hte only constant in her life was her father and the most important, she had been hoping to see nathan again when she arrived at that displaced time but she never really considered that she would be facing a much younger version of him, however she had seen much weirder things in her lifetime. the mutant nods at the name that leaves his mouth, not really daring to speak just yet. she widens her eyes slightly and nods her head “no? i see, that makes sense.” she listened carefully to his next words, her eyebrows furrowing, it wasn’t the most out there she has heard truly so it made sense to her “so you are my father, but you’re two years older than me? yeah, it’s weird but nothing i can’t handle. w — what would you like me to call you?” she asked unsure if she should refer to this younger version as dad or not, they have basically just met. she chuckles and shakes her head at the question “no, i just, last time i saw you it was all white. you had more wrinkles too, though. but i like the streak, looks snazzy.”

There’s a sense of pride felt while looking at Hope, knowing that he raises her to be the woman she has become ever since she was a baby. He might not have lived those years yet but that doesn’t change the fact he feels protective over her already. Nathan never had much growing up, very little since Redd and Slim made sure they kept moving from town to town. Nobody could find out that they were Mutants but eventually they left him too. They didn’t want to go but life doesn’t always go according to plan. He learned that lesson the hard way. This left Nathan alone for many, many years. There’s a comfort in knowing his life won’t always be considered lonely.  He’ll have her. His little girl. He expects this won’t always be weird but it’s new and doesn’t blame Hope for feeling that way right now. “Exactly. I promise that I’m still me. No matter how old I appear to be.” It’s funny how you can know someone for five minutes and would already burn the world down if anyone tried to hurt her. “I’d really like it if you called me dad..” Nathan can’t imagine being called anything else. “The head of white hair I’ve made peace with but wrinkles?” He chuckles at the thought. “I’m glad you think it’s snazzy. Maybe I’ll finally be hip.”

          ‘  they  give  me  a  headache  and  i’m  not  exactly  a  fan  of  where  they  came  from  ,   either  .  ’    her  father  ,   HELL  -  who  wants  to  be  involved  with  that ?    ‘  same  .  ’    now  she’s  curious  .    ‘  where  do  you  get  your  powers  from ?  ’  

         the  reasons  to  why  she’s  not  a  people  person  seems  to  keep  adding  up  ,   this  for  an  example  .   there’s  a  flick  of  her  fingers  ,   plants  breaking  through  the  cracks  of  the  sidewalk  and  making  the  other  trip  onto  their  face  .    ‘  and  sometimes  karma  does  us  all  a  favor  .  ’    her  move  was  subtle  ,   she  turning  to  the  other  .   ‘  besides  ,   i’ve  literally  seen  other  people  who’re  half  robot  around  here  .   i  don’t  know  why  they’re  so  shocked  .  ’  

          ‘  one  of  my  many  vices  .  ’   it’s  clear  that  rachel  doesn’t  love  her  powers  ,   but  at  least  she’s  not  like  her  father  ;   and  she’s  found  something  good  to  do  with  them  .    ‘  as  well  …  does  that  mean  you’re  also  one ?  ’  

( @bablc​ ) “You know, Phoebe’s going to be so annoyed I got my date in and she never got her’s.” While Esme is purely interested in Nathan just to spite her sister, there’s still an underlying feeling of jealousy. What does Phoebe have that she doesn’t that turned Nathan’s head? It’s not like they aren’t identical or anything. “But then again, maybe that’s for the best. Less of a chance for her sink her claws into you.”
