look at the bruise on Kuz’ cheekbone. At some point in all the dragging his face went into the pipes pretty hard to get that. And you could see that Wilson’s first priority was to lift his head up off the pipe and shelter it against Wilson’s chest. 

That isn’t a better reason to reason to react the way Wilson did, necessarily. But I am struck by the automatic interpretation of it, I’m struck that the commentator said,

“Coburn rips the jersey off, and that’s why Tom Wilson was irate.” 

No question. Wilson is a Man and must be angry about his team’s Manly Honor. The possibility that Wilson may be angry because he is afraid for someone’s safety isn’t spoken, the idea that a man might be meaningfully, practically concerned for a teammate’s safety isn’t given weight.
