Give Thanks Because He Is Good

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His love endures forever.” Psalm 118:1 NIV

Let your Thanksgiving week begin here. God is good, and His goodness isn’t seasonal, fluctuating, or dependent on how your life feels in the moment. His goodness is fixed, eternal, and immovable. The psalmist doesn’t say give thanks because everything is perfect. He says give thanks because God is good.

If you woke up today, He’s good. If you are going through something today, He’s still good. If you are waiting on a breakthrough, He’s good while you wait. If you are walking through a valley, His goodness is walking beside you. “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life” (Psalm 23:6 KJV). Not some days, not the easy days, ALL DAYS.

This week, before you count blessings on the table, count the blessing of the God who sits above the table. The God whose love never expires. The God whose goodness hasn’t failed you yet. And it never will.

Eu também sei ir embora. As pessoas esquecem disso, como se eu tivesse sido feita para permanecer onde não sou tratada com cuidado. Mas eu sei recuar, sei fechar as portas que abri com as próprias mãos, sei deixar para trás o que não me sustenta. E se isso dói — e dói — eu ainda assim permaneço firme, porque aprendi que não posso diminuir a minha intensidade para caber no raso de ninguém. Eu ofereço tempo, presença, profundidade… e quando percebo que meu esforço é recebido com indiferença, algo dentro de mim simplesmente se endireita. Eu me ergo. Eu me recolho. Eu sigo. Porque eu também sou perda, das que deixam um silêncio pesado, das que fazem falta de verdade. E eu não corro atrás de quem não sabe lidar com a força que carrego. Minha chama é alta demais para quem só conhece a tibieza. Eu mereço ser vista e não vou aceitar menos que isso.
