A little concept I had in my head when I listen to the Danger Days Traffic Report...

You must fix your heart, and you must build an altar where it swells.
I don't remember where I was when I first heard this song, but I sure remember how it made me feel. I wasn't doing so well back then. I was burnt out, had taken a direction in life that seemed prestigious from the outside but wasn't making me happy, and was constantly exhausted with a low self-worth. I remember this lyric allowed me to wonder: was I really fixing my heart where it swelled?
It's been a process four years in the making, but I'd say I'm building my altar in the right place now. There is yet much journey and exploration ahead, but I can sleep soundly and feel good about myself knowing my efforts are built where my heart lies.
For many months now, I have been absolutely blasting My Chemical Romance on my ride to work and singing to it. And the reason it feels so cathartic, I think, is that every single song is embedded with the feeling of confusion and despair that often arises with the human condition, which is the perfect way to get those feelings out at the start and end of a long day, but much more importantly, they are absolutely permeated with hope. Every single song. Even the most tragic unearth an ocean of hope beneath as soon as you scratch a bit at the surface. Vampires Will Never Hurt You calls out "you must keep your soul, like a secret in your throat"; Helena leaves you wondering if "we'll meet again when both our cars collide"; they even "poked holes (in the killing jar) so I can Breathe" in The Jetset Life is Gonna Kill You. Not to speak of the songs that are outright hopeful, like "Famous Last Words" and "Save Yourself, I'll Hold Them Back". I don't know, I just love MCR's music so much.
What I'm trying to get at, is that I also think that this is what the idea of Solarpunk is about. It's looking at everything around us as it is, bathing in it, feeling it, and letting hope permeate everywhere. Not just about creating a world that runs off the Sun, but one that can bear to stand under it.

I had an account under this name many years ago. It did a fantastic job acting as a shelf to place my thoughts on, so I could pick them back up again later, when I had rested and felt stronger. Sometimes there's so many, I can't hear them clearly. I'm looking forward to be able to reflect, hear the calm and clarity again. I want to observe life, and think about it deeply, with the peace that packing just a few more years has brought me.
