Side note, I like to think this is after he got saved from the sub and woke up. If that isn't clear. And after the fight or flight reflexes die down, he's just desperate for positive connection. Even just connection with another person that proves he's not still down in the sub would do for him. He's so sad :)

Wilford Warfstache would be an absolute fucking menace towards Simon, meanwhile, dark is like āfor fuck sakeā¦.ā Like imagine a toddler on one of those leads, dark just has to do that but pull Wilford back by his fucking suspenders. Itās like the devil on your shoulder and the angel but the angel is telling you āitās fine look! Just dance it out!ā
No, no, no. Dark is the morally gray angel and Wilford is the very bright and chaotic demon who will suggest dancing, murder, or both.

More on that idea i have about Simon coming to Erid around the time Grace is just arriving (you can find that here), I had the thought about a more ambiguous version of it all.
Grace and Simon are DYING. They are not making it. Grace is starving, dehydrated, and severely lacking in nutrients. His brain is getting eaten away. Simon is drowning in blood, actively mutating at a crazy rate, and has been hallucinating for days before his end.
I love the thought of their deaths bleeding into each other. Seeing each other as they get closer and closer to their ends.
Simon sees a frail man, so pale and tired. Heās unable to stand, can barely see through the pain. He thinks of him as a ghost. Maybe someone killed in the ocean. Maybe someone he killed here to haunt him.
Grace sees a man covered in blood and burns and teeth. His eyes are bloodshot and terrified. Heās strong in body and intimidating, but he shakes and curls in to look small. Grace thinks heās some horrible nightmare at first, but when Simon cowers from him, he feels the urge to soothe him.
They both think the other isnāt real, some hallucination that their brains conjured up as they lost all sanity. Still, Grace tells Rocky not to forget to feed Simon too and Simon still clings to Graceās thin hands and apologize for hurting him.
