The Never List™️

Our Never List™️ is made of more than 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals that we promise to never use as ingredients in our products. All of which includes over 1,400 risked ingredients from personal care products by the European Union, plus additional toxic chemicals screened by Beautycounter and discovered to be a concern.

While all of our ingredients are sourced from a higher standard of safety and quality in mind, our mission to fragrance disclosure extends far beyond our products. Beautycounter has been an active leading business voice advocate for the passage of SB 574 The Safer Fragrance Bill in California. SB 574 requires manufacturing disclosures about all fragrance ingredients in personal-care products linked to harmful health consequences. We consider this the first step to ending the “Fragrance Loophole”.

“Fragrance Loophole”

We all love scents and smelling good so why is “Fragrance” such a big deal? The International Fragrance Association (IFRA) lists 3,059 materials that are reported as being used as “Fragrance compounds”. Of those 3,059 ingredients most have evidence linked to health effects including cancer, reproductive toxicity, skin tumors, allergies and sensitivities. The Big One: current laws DO NOT provide the FDA with the authority to require disclosure or public safety with any fragrance ingredients. Fragrance is the big “trade secret”.

Let’s get real,

I could have edited this photo, added filters etc. but my son’s eczema is now my motivation. We are making the switch. Can’t wait for the results 🙏🏻✨ here’s to safer products🥂 because beauty and self-care should be good for you 🌿✨

Troy’s eczema started when he turned 3 months old. I didn’t panic until it hit 3 weeks in and by this point the severity of his eczema was scary and depressing. I would cry and felt ashamed whenever I took a photo or if strangers in public would stop to admire his cuteness. Troy became agitated from the itchiness of his rash. It spread rapidly over the course of a month from the top of his cheeks to his feet.. literally little to no skin spots that were without irritation. I began to panic and considered my intake and diet. I considered his as well, changing his formulas I supplement with 2 times! I could tell they weren’t the cause or the source for the skin irritations but the formulas had a major contribution to the inflammation. I started to do more research around the time I found out about Beautycounter’s Baby Line. I became stronger, more confident, in searching for any sort of relief or solution.

~The recovery~

5 weeks into Troy’s #severeeczema I began using Beautycounter’s Baby Balm and Baby All Over Wash. I am constantly lathering his body during each/every changing. I make sure his skin is not moist and not too dry, there needs to be a balance. I will take a clean, wet cloth, DAB/TAP around affected areas (gentle with irritated skin) then immediately dry those areas. Then I would apply on top the Baby Balm, massage gently and have fresh bibs and clothes put on him.

5-6x per week Troy is scrubbed in his bath with Baby Gentle All Over Wash and is taken from the bath no longer than 10 minutes to avoid pruning. Baby Protective Balm Routine, again, is applied.

~Things I pay attention to~

•The foods he is eating: what is he responding well/not well to (skin wise)

•The soap used to clean bottles and baby dish-ware: I will only purchase #seventhgeneration from here on out 🌱

•Laundry detergent used for the sheets he sleeps on + clothes he wears

(ANYTHING THAT HAS CONTACT WITH SKIN)

-Note: I discovered blood would be covered all over the sheets every morning after Troy would sleep on his cheeks (his side) throughout the night. This would happen because cotton sheets strip away at sensitive skin types and causes skin irritations

•He is under my radar all the time because he scratches constantly at his eczema patches cause them to bleed

* this is when I use baby gloves!!!! *

Last but not least and very important-

NO KISSIES FROM DIRTY MOUTHS

This one is huge I hate to say it but I really don’t hate to say it please be supportive friends and family he is too young and too sensitive, unfortunately ☹️🙅🏻‍♀️

When Troy visited the pediatrician two weeks into his eczema they prescribed Aquaphor and steroids. It wasn’t until ONE WEEK after switching those prescriptions out for Beautycounter’s Baby Collection when we were relieved of any skin irritations
