I made chocolate tart for you this year, but you're not here to eat it. ETA: Oh man, this is actually really good. Even I'm surprised.

First time making a #bento #lunch Housewives/husbands really have it hard because this took a while to make... Gotta practice more... At least I have #pokemon themed #onigiri
Making/made pork and chive dumplings. I hope the skin isn't gross. Used an old glass juice bottle to roll out the skin. Lifehack for when you don't have a rolling pin.
Made zha Jiang mien.
My lunch has gotten to the point where I'm just putting stuff together and hope it turns out well. This is actually pretty good. I don't think people can guess all of what I put in this since I added some pretty unconventional ingredients. #lunch #pasta

Made bacon wrapped okra. Had no idea what I was going because I've never cooked okra before...
Made some chocolate cupcakes with a sea salted almond and vanilla buttercream frosting.
Chicken aspic over rice. My version of Soma`s entrance exam dish in "Shokugeki no Soma". Not the same, but it's me quickly throwing something together for lunch . I'm going to try using the manga recipe next time... but eh.
Today's kitchen adventure: checkered cookies. These are not perfect. I messed up on the sizing. :( will try again next time. :/
Today’s kitchen adventure: Boeuf bourguignon á la Julia Child
It’s so good, but so time consuming. Why is good food so time consuming?
So I forgot to buy parsley so the pearl onions went without parsley and I used a bottle of cabernet sauvignon since I love them and had it on hand. I also used a little less than 3 pounds of London broil steak instead of a regular stewing cut since that’s what was on sale at the market.
Acidity of the wine is perfect with the meat. Definitely use a bottle of wine you would drink if making this dish because the flavor or the wine infuses the meat. Pearl onions add a lovely sweetness to balance the acidity of the meat and sauce. I also recommend cutting the carrot into chunks and not slices so that it holds shape better and looks more visually appealing. You can also use whole peeled baby carrots.
Also, I think I suck at browning food because I needed an apron, long sleeves and a glove to protect myself from butter popping. Do you know what else would have been helpful? A mask to shield my face.
This is the first time I’ve made French food and I’m rather pround of myself. It’s also the first time my parents tried a French dish that wasn’t escargot.

Today's kitchen adventure; bacon tomato fried rice. I basically loaded my fried rice with veggies and added a slice of bacon and on egg for protein.
Made kimchi by myself for the first time last weekend! I didn't just spend my time playing Pokémon and watching the world cup.
Behold! Constructing an Asian American #hotdog at an independence day #BBQ because why the heck not? #fusionfood
Today's kitchen adventure: carbonara angel hair pasta! This was actually very good. I messed up and added a bit too much salt but that was easily remedied by using romaine lettuce as a wrap. Do I ended up doing like... A yakisoba-pan but instead of yakisoba, I used the carbonara pasta; and instead of pain, I used lettuce leaves.
Did stove top BBQ today!

Made Japanese potato salad!
Today’s kitchen adventure: ajitsuke tamago.
This is super easy to make and tastes amazing.
Cooking time is 6 minutes. Guys, this tastes amazing.
Marinade recipe:
1/4 c. Water
1/4 c. soy sauce
2 tbs sugar
2 tbs mirin
2 tbs cooking wine/sake
and then just let the entire thing marinade for 3-12 hours.
Is that six minutes of boiling or six minutes from cold water or six minutes after water boils and heat off, or…?
catpeas: bring water to a boil, put in room temperature eggs, let it boil for 6-7 minutes, remove from heat and immediately put into a ice water bath for 5 minutes or until cool. Remove shell and then marinade.
Alternative to an ice water bath: run eggs under cold tap water. I like water bath method better because it uses less water and I can save the water for plants.
A hard boiled egg takes approximately 12 minutes, so the soft boil method takes half the time. If you want the yolk to be less runny, I recommend 7 minutes cook time which my mum liked better.
You can also achieve a slightly less runny yolk by letting the egg sit in marinade for 2 days, but this also makes the egg whites more firm.
