Headache thoughts
My type of anxiety is the kind where I'm anxious about going to the dermatologist today because I'm worried the word zit has become a slur and the dermatologist is going to accuse me of prejudice against pimples
Thank you guys for convincing me to go to Miku Expo but also I danced so hard I thought my organs collapsed for a moment and I almost fainted on 3 separate occasions ☠️☠️☠️
Being a happy ending enjoyer that also only likes hanahaki fics if they abide by actual hanahaki rules (meaning it's actually unrequited, no "the victim thinks it's unrequited but it's not" bullshit) is not for the weak BUT I FOUND ONE GUYS IM SCREAMING

Hot take I guess but sometimes Jax haters sound like they would watch Tom and Jerry and act horrified that a kids show would encourage slaming someone with a piano or whine that the Emperor's New Groove tries to make you sympathise with a man who did something as unforgiveable as throwing someone out a 10 story window.
Like yeah we all saw him put Ragatha in a vat of hot oil idk man sometimes violence is put in a show as a gag and sometimes characters are made assholes on purpose so you watch them grow but so many people find it unbarable that we have to watch a character, who is indeed an asshole, get the needed screen time to effectively grow, because they're comparing slapstick humor with real-world, irredeamible equivalents.
I didn't realize that while on the computer, it doesn't tell you you've reached the tag limit and just lets you write whatever and deletes it when you post, so I'm just gonna reblog my post two seconds after posting it like a loser
For context in my extremely long tags, I brought up Pomni (and how people HATE her for daring to talk to Jax) and it made me imagine how funny it would be if in the Emperor's New Groove, as Pacha becomes more sympathetic to Kuzco there was a giant uproar of people accusing him of being a corrupt dictator sympathiser. Because I mean how dare he get along with someone who likes to throw people out windows and objectify women and dare to try and better that person. You ever noticed that there isn't much screen time between Pacha and his wife? That's because the writer's are sexist and Pacha is sexist and hates his wife.
That's what people sound like when they get mad at Pomni for not spending 24/7 of her screen time with Ragatha. Nevermind that she clearly enjoys talking to her, she hates her because maybe sometimes they bring up a man because it's relevant to current events. The scene in episode 7 where they bring up Kinger because they are concerned he wasn't being included in the plan to escape would've been written better if they instead just talked about how much they love talking to each other despite the fact it would serve no purpose to the plot, but so that it can pass the Bechdel test (which is a joke test btw) Good writing of female character is when characters talk womenly about women and how much they love the women characters guys!
And I'm saying this as someone who doesn't really like Pomni all that much, but because I think she's bland, not because I've made it up that she's actually a misogynist.
(Also I want to clarify Pomni is bland in a way that works narratively. She's clearly supposed to be like a John Watson-type character, where she's actually the conduit for the audience to experience things. We follow her perspective most of the time, and she acts like someone inexperienced with this wacky world... because she is. She's like a walking confused camera that effectively draws the troubles and worries of the other characters out, and that's okay, and I wouldn't change her character if I got my knubby hands on this show, but I think she's just a little boring because of it lol. And I'm 90% confident her blandness is why so many people ship her with Jax, because she's so bland that anyone can project themselves onto her).
I lied. Third thing: a lot of Jax haters, Like I said in the tags of the first post (god this post is a mess) claim they despise him because they're sick of the morally grey, hot, troubled, male characters and then when giving examples bring up characters such as Bill Cipher (who is not really morally grey he's intentionally evil), Sans (who is also not really morally grey he's just mysterious. He's also not really hot by conventional standards... nor is Bill if you think about it), I think the Onceler was mentioned but perhaps I'm making that one up? The point is, they're not really sick of morally grey, hot, troubled, male characters; they're sick of the Tumblr Sexy Men and the fans around those characters. Which, it's fine to be upset that a lot of people in fandom do obsess over male characters that do abhorrent things, and yeah, it's annoying that Jax has a hoard of people that will tell you he's just a baby who's done no wrong, but that's not the creator of the show's fault. Jax isn't poorly written because people think he's hot.
I didn't agree with the argument some people were making when Goose said Jax and Pomni were the main characters, where they said to anyone upset about that that it's "her characters, she can do what she wants," but I also didn't agree with the people criticizing that choice because they weren't really criticizing how that affects the narrative, they were upset that Jax, a character a lot of people find hot, was important to the plot. They would say they're criticizing how it affects the narrative, but every single time, it was just "I thought every character would be equally important to the narrative, but it turns out that's not the case, and that's bad." But if we view the characters as tools to bring an audience to the intended conclusion of a story, focusing on Jax's resistance to boredom and how that causes him to lash out and pull 'pranks' on those around him, and how he has to overcome that which will probably directly corilate to Pomni's initial depression to her entire existance being 'larping' until she begins to bond with the other cast works wonderfully to convey the theme of the show, which I remind you was litereally spelled out for us in a Tumblr post as "there's meaning in a static life." We don't have to even dig for the theme, it's been answered for us. It should be really easy to make arguments as to whether Jax being a main character hinders or uplifts the main message of the story.
So yeah, I think it's completely fine that Jax is a main character (Though I will say I wish Ragatha were more important, because she's clearly Jax's foil, and I don't know why she seems set aside lately). Have I heard anyone go in-depth about how Jax being a main character wouldn't effectively lead us to the conclusion that "there's meaning in a static life?" No, they just keep complaining that people think he's attractive and he's a man and every character should be given equal screen time in a show that has 9 episodes to get it's message across and a cast of 7 characters, and it's misogynistic that he's important to the plot despite the fact that, again, I don't think people would like him any more if he was a woman.
Additional obligatory point of how we treat indie creators so much worse because of the parasocial relationship we build around them, so when they do something we don't like, we react as though we've been betrayed, and how that attitude will only push indie creators away and continue the mega corporations' monopolies here:
