aimsey's shack was so fun to paint hehe

!bad: “no.”

——— later ———

tr!aimsey: “I saw his [bad’s] face after it happened, he didn’t seem like he was in it either, not how he usually is. I feel like he’s making a performance, like a pretend of how he usually does it. you have known him for however long—so was there sincerity? did he genuinely not want to do it?”

!foolish: “no, I don’t think he wanted to. but he was staying true to his nature. and whatever deal he had to do, I’m sure it was for his own twisted reasons... it’s tough to compare his morals to everyone else’s, the wee little demon he is”

when bad, foolish, and water were in that group call, i don't remember why, but water starts questioning foolish on a bunch of shit - questions that, quite frankly, would be deeply offensive to anyone else. but you know, it's foolish, so he just kind of takes it.

and then she asks him why he's building at all - is that not disrespectful to the memory of ros? is he not taking her job? does he not care? (i dont think that water genuinely believes these things - she was looking for some sort of response - i'm interested in what exactly she was digging for)

and again, foolish doesn't really have a good response for that. he's 1. baffled by the question, and 2., clearly doesn't feel the need to justify himself to her. so it's left at pretty much nothing

then motherfudging badboyhalo - who doesn't offer any commentary on this, btw - pivots the conversation, asking foolish; "why are you building this statue, again?"

bad. this guy. he KNOWS why he's building this. he's not asking because he wants to know, he's asking because he wants foolish to answer it in front of water.

he wants that because he knows that foolish won't - doesn't - defend himself in this situation. foolish is mostly unbothered by others' perceptions of him. but bad wants to give him the chance to inadvertently defend himself anyway - and he wants to do it without outwardly defending foolish himself

because obviously foolish cares - he's building the statue because of a deal he made - a deal he made to give ros his life. bad's giving foolish the chance to explain this in his own words so that water can understand that he does care.
