Listen its easy to make fun of borderlands for all the outdated memes and cheesy jokes but you’ve really gotta hand it to them for the lgbtq+ rep. they throw in random tidbits about characters being queer without making it a huge Thing, both moxxi and sir hammerlock have missions where they’ll say “this person is my ex girl/boyfriend” and its not a big deal, theres an ace character who’s explicitly ace coded, gnc and not-conventionally-attractive characters (especially women!) who are just Like That and it’s not a punchline. They make mistakes, but they fix them - apologising for getting zer0’s pronouns wrong in Tales ; hell, making axton bi after people complained about That One Voiceline was such a fuckin power move. Borderlands isn’t perfect but they gave me a game where I can play as a space lesbian with a magic shield who is simultaneously a total badass but also gets completely flustered whenever a cute girl comms her and you’ll pry that from my cold dead queer hands
