she looks over when aurora joins her on  the couch , lips forming  into a pout when the other girl removed the plastic baggie from her fingers , her hands now being filled with  the glass of water . alanna takes a few small sips from it before placing it on the coffee table in front of them .  “ i’m sorry , ” she turns to face the other , a soft pout forming on her face .  “ for being a mess , &  that you had to come get me . you don’t have to take care of me , ”  the blonde slurs softly , even though the last thing she wanted was for aurora to leave her here alone.

                  “  you  &  liam ?  “  the blonde repeated , brow already risen in a rather suspicious way as she studied the other , for a moment actually thinking she might’ve blown this whole thing out of proportion  &  that it was just another rumor the magazine wanted to sell . but , the second she saw that smile spreading over her friend’s features , she knew she was deadly mistaken . with a weird feeling revolving at the pit of her stomach , elissa found herself momentarily shaken by the response . “ one thing … led to another ? “  she repeated , finding it incredibly hard to disguise her feelings on the matter . after all , she was usually an open book  &  any form of lying took a great deal of preparation from her to be able to mask it properly without getting detected .  sucking in her lips , elissa felt like time froze for a brief moment as she continued staring aimlessly at her friend , before aurora’s own question arose on the matter . “ friends ? oh - yeah , we’re friends , we’re great friends , “  she replied , the words somehow tasting vinegary on her lips , which explained why she’d gotten a sudden urge to wash them down with the rest of her drink .  she needed to chill ; she demanded herself to be chill . yet , the next question the other asked made her burst into small laughter , unintentionally , considering she found it incredibly ironic aurora was asking her out of someone , anyone else .  “ i mean …. well , he’s great .  like …. you really picked a winner , “  why did she suddenly sound sarcastic ? what the hell was wrong with her ? she needed to chill . badly .   “  no , seriously , he’s like …. a really great guy . i mean it , you’re lucky so …. congrats , “  she continued right after she cleared her throat , finishing the rest of her drink  &  already raising a hand to get the bartender’s attention for a new one . 

               ‘  we’re talking about a catalogue of pictures solely of you  … is there really a wrong answer  ?  ’   liam pointed out slightly amused  ,  thinking about it  he’d figure picking any picture of her would be a win  ,  then again  ,  he had a meme as an icon in his instagram so he wasn’t any authority of social media  .  but surely enough aurora spoke again and confirmed his own thoughts  .  liam was very much a ‘ i’ll cross that bridge once i get to it ‘ kinda guy  ,  unless it was about his job  ,  he had no problem winging it and seeing how things went  ,  so it was no wonder that he was only know realizing valentine’s day was pretty much around the corner  ,  and the reality of it was that if they didn’t take a more proactive role on the charade they’d be left to be portrayed by people who quite frankly only really cared about themselves first  .  ‘  what if we negotiate it  ?  ’  he wondered  ,  a little more serious than he had acted all night  ,  but still careful to stay close to the girl  ,  maybe even more now considering the topic at hand  .  ‘  we exchange the sappy caption for a picture we actually took ourselves , you know  …  not a random selfie our teams are probably just gonna share with a ridiculous caption neither of us read  .  ’  he started  ,  knowing that at least he hadn’t even been asked about aurora’s picture before he was ordered to put it in his stories  .   ‘  fake or not it’s supposed to be pretty new  ,  i don’t know about you but i don’t wanna look like the guy who’d be asking you to move in next week  .  ’  liam chuckled lowly  ,   ‘  i don’t know  ,  maybe you could stop by my place  ,  get seen getting in  ,  we could set up a dinner  ,  take pictures of it  ,  post them with a cryptic caption or a fucking emoji i don’t know  ,  and we don’t look like clowns  . ’  he suggested  ,  rolling his eyes slightly amused at her twisting around his words  .   ‘  you know i didn’t mean that  .  ’  he chuckled  ,   ‘  but i’ll keep that in mind  .  ’

lizzie: you can always count me in for shopping !

lizzie: i'll let you pick 2 party outfits

lizzie: at least one that i promise to wear once

aurora: babe, i'm DEFINITELY going with you

aurora: nuh uh, i'm not letting you pick up any more church clothes

                  it was supposed to be a casual outing with a couple of friends  &  while elissa was usually one of the people who was never in a dull mood ,  especially surrounded by friends ,  everyone could’ve noticed the shift that night . twirling a straw of her martini , her eyes were glued on her glass instead of participating in the conversation the others were having , right up until she was practically left alone with aurora .  well , technically , there was another girl present but she was sitting across the table , and given the somewhat loud music there was nobody else to talk to but …. aurora .  elissa herself wasn’t entirely sure why she suddenly felt a grand amount of  resentment towards a femme who was usually her friend , but ever since that article came out about her  &  liam , she simply couldn’t of help but to feel somewhat …. she wasn’t even sure . jealous ?  she couldn’t of  possibly been . after all , her  &  liam were also friends ,  with secret benefits ,  after she broke up with her on-again-off-again boyfriend ,  but there were never feelings involved .  but still , she still couldn’t of shaken a feeling of wanting to pour that same martini she was toying with for the past ten minutes on top of aurora’s head . clearing her throat , the blonde finally looked over and offered the woman a quick smile , taking a sip of the said drink out of precaution before she no longer could’ve stopped herself .  “ so , you  &  liam , huh ?  “   the question was meant to come out casual , although everyone who truly knew her could’ve detected there was nothing casual present in her tone .   “  how did that happen ?   “    

𝐬𝐡𝐞   𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧’𝐭   𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞   𝐭𝐨   𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐤𝐞   her   head   at   the   other’s   query   ,  “   no   .   i   still   feel   the   same   ‘bout   everything   i   said   .   wesley’s   a   dumbass   .   ”   a   loose   shrug   rolls   off   her   shoulders   with   her   response   .   everything   she   told   aurora   over   snapchat   would   eventually   be   said   to   her   best   friend’s   face   anyway   .   donna   was   just   covertly   glad   that   the   subject   brought   her   &   aurora   back   together   .   eyebrows   arch   in   amusement   at   the   details   of   the   quarrel   .   “   wow   ,   sounds   like   wes   has   the   hots   for   you   .   guess   he   saw   your   fenty   campaign   &   got   a   little   excited   .   ”  the   femme   teases   with   a   smirk   ,  “   so   ,   what   now   ?   have   you   guys   talked   ?   ”

                ‘  i don’t recommend it to be honest  ,  parents hate me  .  ’   he pointed out  ,  chuckling only a couple of seconds later  .   ‘  ironic since you’re actually the only girlfriend who’d benefit from it .  ’  he chuckled  ,  even if the word girlfriend left a bitter taste in his mouth  .  he was only joking  ,  and despite the image they had to sell he didn’t see aurora like a girlfriend at all  ,  it’d be insane if he did  ,  but he had been single for so long the mere mention of the word was like trying to dust off an old book left unattended for a years and years  ,  causing nothing other than allergies  .   ‘  oh my bad  ,  do you want me to scroll down your instagram and look for a picture of my liking  ?  ’  he questioned in amusement  .  he was joking about not having to think  ,  but it was true  .  he figured the only thing worse than having to pretend you were dating someone was having to pretend you knew them  ,  sure  ,  there were downsides to letting other people control the image of them offered to the world  ,  be he liked to believe the pros outweighted the cons  .  at least he didn’t have an actual girlfriend to worry about  ,  which now that he ponder on it caused more questions to pop into his head  .   ‘  aw  ,  i love that  .  i’m gonna feel so loved  .  ’  liam only kept the teasing tone  ,  considering he wasn’t  one to advertise his very few relationships on social media  .  pulling away  ,  it didn’t take long for his lips to curled into a smirk  ,  rolling his eyes playfully  .   ‘  hey now  !  i’m not gonna waste my skills just for show  ,  am i  ?  ’  he raised a brow at the artist  , tilting his head back just enough to look at her properly  .   ‘  you can’t handle 10 out of 10  .  ’ liam winked amused  ,  patting her hand on his knee as he did  .
