“Would I ever get the surgery?”

It’s probably the question I get asked more than any other.

My answer might surprise some people: no.

Not because I’m ashamed of being trans. Not because I’m confused. Not because I’m “less” of a woman.

The truth is I already feel complete exactly as I am.

I spent years trying to become the most authentic version of myself, and for me, that never required changing that part of my body.

There’s also the reality that every major surgery comes with risks, and some of the potential complications simply aren’t worth it to me personally.

That doesn’t mean my choice is right for every trans person. It’s just right for me.

The idea that all trans women want the same things is one of the biggest misconceptions people have.

What matters most is being comfortable in your own skin, whatever that looks like.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned as a trans woman is that honesty saves everyone pain in the long run.

The right man won’t care that you’re trans. The wrong man isn’t someone you want to be with anyway.
