kinda short, maybe like 5’1” or 5’2”

wasian (half japanese on her mom’s side)

curtain bangs!!! (idc that the stylist told her she’d look bad in bangs, avery can rock anything)

listens mostly to 70s/80s music

plays with her hair when nervous and tugs on it when stressed

pansexual ! <3

she has a sister that’s constantly dying her hair and you think that avery has never once changed her hair color?? um yeah no she’s definitely had a little bit of pink in there at some point

“idiot”, “dumbass”, and “stupid” are all terms of endearment in avery speak

she had white converses at some point but now they’re covered in multi-colored doodles

steals EVERYONE’S hoodies constantly and all of them are oversized on her because like i said shes really short

she has an amazing singing voice (as did hannah) and they definitely had mini concerts in the kitchen while cleaning but now she doesn’t really let anyone hear her voice anymore because she associates singing with her mother because it’s something they always did together and it hurts too much to let anyone see that side of her again (like grayson totally didn’t weasel his way through that wall, she def sings him to sleep when he’s so stressed that swimming doesn’t help)

she looks tiny, but the girl can definitely pack a punch if you try to mess with her

doesn’t cry, only gets really angry (like i said: anger issues) or has panic attacks

“i hate you” or “fuck you” is how she says “i love you”

avery has def ocd. i said what i said.

skateboarded EVERYWHERE before getting a car

doesn’t watch tv often but when she does it’s shitty reality tv shows

if lia zhang (from the naturals) existed in the inheritance games then she and avery would either get along really well or try to kill each other no in between

jlb what does this mean?? also throughout the series we see how avery hates hugs, like in the hawthorne legacy she just kind of stands there while toby holds her and she says she’s never been much of a hugger. why does she hate physical affection so much? this makes me think something happened to her to trigger these kinds of reactions. i hope in the third book jlb goes more into depth about her childhood because all we really know is that her mom died her dad wasn’t really around (and honestly a little neglectful, which might be what caused this but??)

avery figures out so much of herself in the hawthorne legacy, but we’re still left in the dark about most of her past. this kind of makes me wonder about what she’s been exposed to/lived through as a child.

avery’s mom practically raised her on 70-80s music and she LOVES ABBA and bec avery like never talks about her interests and is so emotionally closed-off, no one finds out she loves to dance (and is REALLY good at it too) for months until one day everyone’s hanging out having a private little christmas party at hawthorne house after attending way too many christmas balls/galas and there’s music playing in the background (surprise! it’s waterloo by abba) and avery just HAS to dance to it bec it’s literally her favorite band how could she not and everyone’s just ?? completely stunned ??? because this emotionally stunted girl that doesn’t let go all that often just breaks out into a well-choreographed dance and her smile is so wide and bright and genuine and no one has ever seen her that happy before
