âSheâs still not over it?â Steve leaned over to Bucky as he rummaged through his messy locker.
Y/N was just a few lockers down from the boys, dressed fully in black, from head to toe. It was a stark difference from her usual colorful pencil skirts.
Bucky huffs and shuts his locker.
âI mean, I get it. J.F.K.âs⌠passing⌠was rough on all of us, but itâs been- what? Five months? Sheâs got to snap out of it. I miss my best girl.â
Bucky let the last part of his confession trail off as he and Steve walked to their next class. He never could have imagined Y/N being this devastated by the whole ordeal.
-
The young couple stared blankly at the television, Y/N clutching closer to Bucky than heâd ever recalled.
âThis⌠this is nuts.â
Thatâs all Bucky could say. The images that kept looping on the screen were too early to have any true meaning to the two. The footage of Jackie reaching behind the Cadillac for her husbandâs skull had repeated for what had to be the tenth time. Walter Cronkite was explaining the situation over the scenes, repeating the small portions of information they already knew:
John F. Kennedy, Americaâs youngest and first Catholic president was killed during a parade in Houston, Texas. Death through a shot to the head.
âBuck, he was supposed to change the world.â
Bucky looked down at his girl and saw tears in her eyes. He didnât know what to do to help Y/N at that moment. He knew how much Kennedy meant to her. He couldnât count all the Saturdays Y/N had chosen door to door campaigning over dancing with him in support of the politician. The number of weekends sheâd even convinced him to come help trailed out of sight. Because of her, heâd had grown fond of the Bostonian.
Not bearing to see the same grotesque spray of red one more time, Bucky turned off the television. Y/N stayed, eyes blank glued to the television. Their shock only allowed silence in Y/Nâs small living room as both continued to stare at the television set, not knowing what to do.
With a sharp breath, Bucky slipped off the couch to kneel in front of Y/N. Taking her face into both hands, it took a startling amount of time to finally catch her attention and bring her back to reality.
âBaby itâs going to be okay. This⌠this has happened before, hasnât it? In our past? I know you know it has.â
âI know but-â
âTell me when itâs happened before. Specificallyâ
âWellâŚâ She sniffed and broke from Buckyâs glare to concentrate. Even at her lowest, she was always the A+ student. His A+ student. Â
âAbraham Lincoln, after the Civil War⌠Ford Theatre, I think?â She bit her lip, taking time to collect herself before a little spark finally returned to her eyes. âJohn Wilkes Booth actually shot him in that theatre because he acted-â Â
Bucky shook his head. âSweetheart, I love that big brain of yours but my point here isn't for you to give me a history lesson. What happened after Lincoln was shot?â
âAndrew Johnson took office.â
âAnd life went on, and everything turned out to be okay.â
Bucky took her in his arms and held her close. He didnât know whether his message got across but knew that he needed her in his arms. Bucky stayed on his knees and Y/N slouched over in their awkward embrace before finally parting.
Y/N smiled sadly and sniffled, wiping away a few tears that happened to escape. Bucky wiped them away and tried again to assess her feelings. She understood that he was trying to console her but she knew better than thinking things could be normal once again.
âBuck, being okay isnât the same as being back to how things were. Weâll never be the same⌠â
Bucky shook his head and tried to interrupt her but Y/N stopped him before he got the chance.
âWeâll never be the same without him.â
Her hoarse whisper was all she left him as she walked up to her room. Bucky sat silent and broken in her empty living room.
-
Y/Nâs line still haunted Bucky then, five months later. She was by far the smartest person that he knew, arguably even more than Bruce Banner. If the smartest person was this pessimistic about a tragedy as monumental as Kennedyâs fate, he didnât know what to believe anymore.
The bell marking the end of fifth hour woke Bucky out of his trance. He grabbed his bag and ran after Steve to lunch.
âWe still meeting up with the girls today?â Bucky asked as he finally met Steveâs pace.
âYep! Havenât heard any different.â
When the boys finally reached the cafeteria, they didnât expect the large hoard of girls crowding near the back corner nor the two girls pushing past behind them, running towards the commotion.
Steve and Bucky, dumbfounded, found Clint at their usual table, without Natasha. He seemed to almost be as confused as they were.
âClint, whereâs Natasha? Donât you two always walk together?â
Steve tried to poke some fun at Clintâs obvious crush on the redhead but he seemed completely unbothered, still consumed by the growing group of chittering girls.
âDonât be too quick, Rogers. I wonder where your two gals could beâŚâ
Steve quirked his eyebrow. Â
âWhat, you think Peggy and Y/N are in that?â Steve incredulously emphasized, not taking any of the girls giggling in the back of the room.
âWouldnât be too quick to assume, pal. Itâs all over the news. I think theyâre calling âthisâ,â Clint motioned his head toward the girls, ââBeatle Feverâ.â
âWhat the hell do bugs have to do with our girls not meeting us for lunch?â Bucky quipped.
Clint laughed. âYou have no ideaâŚâ
Having enough of Clintâs elusiveness, the two boys ventured their way to the back of the cafeteria to see for themselves. Steve and Bucky fought their way through the crazed girls, still not understanding the purpose of their current congregation. They were packed together like sardines. Some of the unlucky ones near the back were forced to stand on tables to get a clear view of whatever everyone was watching.
When they finally reached the epicenter of the girls, they found the capture of their attention:
A small television, no more than a foot wide, the cafeteria staff used during their down times throughout the day. The girls seemed to have taken the set hostage, all clamoring around about the boys on the screen.
âWho are they?â Bucky whispered to Steve, seeing no difference between the four men who kept appearing on the screen, with identical long haircuts and black suit and ties.
âYou two have to be kidding, right?â
Pepper Potts, who had happened to be standing by the two, piped in.
âTheyâre The Beatles! John, Paul, Ringo and George?â
The boys gave her no reaction or realization to the names and she was extremely unimpressed with the two.
âTheyâre from England and theyâve been on the top of Billboardâs weekly for at least three weeks. Where have you two been? Â Living under a rock, or too busy with football?â
Bucky scoffed at Pepperâs jab but Steve elbowed him.
âPepper, have you seen Peggy or Y/N? We canât seem to find them.â
She pointed just across the opening surrounding the television and the boys instantly found the objects of their search. Peggy was giggling like the rest of the girls, complimenting whichever band member sheâd already found a liking for. On the other hand, Y/N sat silently, awestruck with her head in her hands, not taking her eyes off the screen for a second.
âSorry Barnes, but your girlâs got it badâŚâ
Pepper smirked as she followed Buckyâs line of sight to his steady, totally transfixed by the Brits.
Bucky scoffed, but knew deep down that Pepper was right. Heâd only seen Y/Nâs eyes that bright once before when her ACT score came back as a perfect 36. Heâd helped her study for the entire previous month and she gave him one of the greatest kisses of his life when she got the news about her score.
Steve and Bucky thanked Pepper and parted towards the girls. They struggled but eventually got the Peggy and Y/N back to their lunch table. When everyone was finally settled and their normal lunch routine began, Steve and Bucky shared a look only they two understood.
Weâre screwed.
-
It started with buttons. Magnetic buttons of Paul McCartney hanging in Y/Nâs locker, buttons of McCartney littering her book bag and eventually on her denim jacket. The same denim jacket that housed Buckyâs new pin heâd gifted her after sheâd lost his last one down the drain. Bucky hadnât really been bothered by Y/Nâs new âhobbyâ. Sure, he was a little jealous some dofus with a name like Paul was special enough to catch this much attention from his girl, but he still was her number one. He just didnât really understand it.
-
âNice shirts, ladies.â
Steve had meant for the comment to be snarky but Peggy and Y/N didnât seem to catch his drift. The girls were wearing almost identical shirts of what had become to be known as the Fab Four, running down what looked like the streets of London. Other than the corresponding kiss stain over John Lennon for Peggy and Paul McCartney for Y/N, their shirts would have looked exactly the same. Bucky rolled his eyes.
âThanks, Steve! Iâm really glad you said that, youâve reminded me of a special announcement Y/N and I have to share. Weâve got to dress the part asâŚâ Peggy trails off as she turns to Y/N giddily, the latter sharing the same if not more giddiness from the news as Peggy.
âVice President and President of our school's chapter of the International Beatles Fan Club!â Y/N announced giggling and triumphantly as she slung her shoulder over Peggyâs.
Steve and Bucky both gave each other a look before turning back to their girls.
âIâm President and Y/Nâs my Vice because of her duties with the Academic Decathlon.â Peggy filled the boyâs silence with pride.
âI really wanted to head the group, but I didnât think I could handle it. I know Paul would understand, thoughâŚâ Y/N and Peggy both laughed as she looked down at her shirt as if talking to the man on her clothing.
âDoll⌠really? Youâre talkinâ to him like that in front of me?â Bucky was joking but it wasnât hard to see there was something deeper running through Bucky at the moment.
âOh come on, Buck. Iâd never have a chance with him. Let me have my fun.â Y/N stuck her tongue out at him but he quickly chimed back in.
âOh no⌠If he got one look at you, heâd try to steal you away from me.â Bucky reached across the table and grabbed for one of Y/Nâs hands, taking it in his own and bringing it to his lips for a kiss.
Y/Nâs cheeks blushed and Peggy awed over Steveâs fake gag.
âI guess itâs just that I donât get it. Youâd always made fun of all the girls whoâd gone googly-eyed at Elvis or any of those goofy crooners. What makes these dorks different?â Bucky asked Y/N sincerely.
Y/N wasnât quite sure how to answer. She took a while before replying to her boyfriend.
âI donât quite know. Things are just different, I guess!â
Y/N shrugged and threw her hands up without a care in the world. The bell signifying the end of lunch rang throughout the cafeteria and the girls parted from Steve and Bucky towards their next class.
Even as she was walking away, Bucky recognized a light shining through Y/N as she talked to Peggy. It was a light he hadnât seen in what felt like months. He had caught glimpses of it before when she had reorganized her pins on her bag or straightened her coveted shirt.
Bucky scoffed and laughed to himself as things finally clicked.
Steve waited at the cafeteria door until Bucky arrived.
âWhat are you laughing about?â
âNothinâ.â
Never thought some British punks could bring my girl back.
-
âHow could I dance with another
When I saw her standing thereâŚâ
Bucky snuck up behind Y/N, singing into her ear as she tended to her locker, wrapping his arms around her waist and swaying a bit.
âBucky, come on. Weâre at school.â Y/N tried to scold Bucky for his public display of affection, but the smile peeking through her attempt of scolding let Bucky know he was off the hook.
âMan⌠Iâd really thought the song reference wouldâve softened you up.â
Bucky kept her in his arms and slipped in a small peck to her cheek just to see the hue of pink heâd become infatuated with.
âBuck, I love the attention, I really do, but I have to go to the fan club meeting. It starts in five minutes.â She returns his previous affection with a kiss of his own on the cheek as she snuck her way out of his arms.
Bucky caught Y/Nâs wrist before she completely slipped away.
âBefore you go⌠Iâve got a surprise for you.â
Bucky handed her a white envelope and received a perplexed look in return.
âBuck, whatâs this for? Itâs not my birthday and our anniversary was just last month.â
Bucky smiled shyly, kicking at the ground.
âJust open the envelope, doll.â
As she opened it, she only got more confused.
âTwo train tickets to New York City? I donât understand...â
âI just got a call from my cousin Maurice, last night. Remember how he got a job on that Ed Sullivan show?â
Y/N didnât quite get where Bucky was going, but she nodded her head.
âYeah, itâs a sweet gig he swung. I still donât understandâŚâ
Bucky took a deep breath and prepared himself for Y/Nâs reaction.
âWell, he called me late last night saying that Olâ Eddie booked a band Tuesday night for the Friday show. He got me and you tickets!â
Y/N scrunched her nose, still not picking up the hints Bucky was dropping.
âA Friday night show in New York? I donât know Buck, I usually study-â
âItâs a pretty cool band, doll.â
âBut for a two-hour train ride? Whoâs cool enough-â
âA band you really like, doll.â
âWhat bandâs worth all that trouble?â
âY/N, I got us tickets to the Beatles!â
Everything went quiet for Y/N as she stood stiffly in front of Bucky.
Bucky definitely wasnât expecting this reaction. He waved his hand in front of her face a few times but got no reaction or change from her previous expression.
âJesus, did I just break my girlfriend?â
Bucky laughed dryly, realizing the scene Y/N was causing with her statuesque posture in the middle of the busy school hallway. He apologized to a few passer-byers before turning back and taking Y/N by the shoulders.
âDoll, youâre going to get to see that punk Peter or Paul you like so much⌠just donât leave him for me, okay?â
The mention of Paul brought Y/N out of her stupor and Buckyâs ending joke was drowned out by the deafening scream Y/N let out. All the students passing sent looks and annoyed glances.
âIâm going to see The Beatles?!â
She almost beat her previously volume and Bucky was quick to shush her.
âWe are going to see the Beatles.â
Y/N jumped into his arms and he almost didnât catch her in time. When he put her back down, Y/N was shining brighter than Bucky had truly ever seen before and it left him speechless.
The two had a habit of getting so caught up in each other that theyâd be in their own universes. This was a prime example and neither Y/N or Bucky saw anything else but each other in the crowded passageway.
The bell rang for the hour and the couple was thrown back into the school hallway they were standing in. Y/N squeaked, realizing what the time was.
âIâm gonna be late for the meeting! Call me tonight, Buck!â
Bucky watched as Y/N ran down the crowded hallways skipping every so often. He laughed at her childish antics. A warmth suddenly spread throughout his chest at the sight. A feeling similar to leaving a cold movie theatre to a hot summer night or putting on a just dried sweater. Heâd never let her know but that same red hue flooded his cheeks as he watched her run down the hallway, bumping into multiple strangers with her happy distractedness.
His girl was back, better than ever, and he had the Brits to thank.
-
âBuck, baby pinch me, please. I want to make sure again.â
Bucky rolled his eyes at Y/N and pinched her forearm again as they waited in the audience of the Ed Sullivan show.
Bucky would be lying if he didnât say he felt the same. It wasnât the performance starting in a half hour that was raising his blood pressure, it was the inevitable craze that would rip through the heavy crowd he and Y/N were currently standing in. Bucky never really liked big groups of people, large quantities of crazed teenage girls even less.
He and Y/N had already made a plan if they lost each other during the show including a meetup place and a mini bottle of mace Y/N had refused to take from Bucky that heâd slipped into her purse during the train ride over. He wanted to know that his girl was safe if anyone tried to mess with her.
âI kind of am too, dollâŚâ Bucky replied shakily to Y/N.
âReally? I canât believe it! Youâre finally a groupie like me?â The excitement of the show had clouded Y/Nâs usual detection of any sarcasm or deeper meaning to Buckyâs reply. He couldnât blame her but needed to get some fresh air before the true chaos ensued.
âBabe, Iâm gonna smoke a quick one, kay?â
âBucky⌠Youâd said you quit-â
âI know, doll. Iâm just stressed, is all. I can barely handle you when you go full-fledged âmember of the Beatles Fan Clubâ, Iâm not sure if Iâm ready for a room full of gals just like that or even more so.â
Y/N realized the situation for Bucky and nodded her head.
âJust promise me youâll be back before the show begins.â
âOf course, sweetheart.â
Bucky gave Y/N a quick kiss on the cheek before beelining to the side exit of the theatre. The cold air of the night was tangible relief for Bucky as he took a few deep breaths of the city air. The exit had led him to an empty alley cutting into a side street. Other than the few technicians still working on the lights and the stage for the performance, the alley was completely free of people.
Bucky pulled out his pack of cigarettes and lit one up, inhaling and exhaling the stress reliever.
God, he hated boy bands. He wasnât a music snob, he actually liked a few Beatles records. Itâs the craze they cause he disliked. Some of those girls wonât be in their right freaking minds when the band starts. Heâs going be in the middle of all of it with Y/N. For Y/N.
A sudden door opening stopped Buckyâs inner rant as he watched four identically dressed men pile out into the alley from a separate door than heâd exited from before. One with far less traffic flow.
âAh, George! Ya really done us in now!â
âGeorgie forgot the cigarettes?â
Two of the men were clearly bullying one, who had his hands up in the air in protest.
âOy, itâs not my fault. Paul there was too busy flirting with the birds to remind me!â
The shortest one who hadnât spoken a word finally chimed in dopely.
âBoys, why ya fightinâ? I brought miâ lighter!â
âRingo, what the hell ah we goinâ to light up if we donât have any smokes. You bloke-â
Bucky stands a bit starstruck as he watches the men bicker. If it werenât for the clear name dropping, he wouldnât even have realized the group arguing so childishly in front of him were The Beatles.
âHey⌠um I have a few extras.â
The group of four fall silent as they all turn in Buckyâs direction, not even noticing then man smoking there until now.
âYou not goinâ to kidnap us if we smoke wâyou?â Ringo, the shortest, said wearily.
âRingo, donât be so full of yourself. No one wants to kidnap ya!â John joked and Ringo sarcastically laughed along.
âThanks, mate. We really appreciate it. Itâs a big show weâre about to put on.â Â Paul is the first to approach Bucky and gladly takes one of his cigarettes from the pack. Ringo lights it and it isnât too soon until all the men are smoking happily in the alleyway.
âIâm here for your concert actually,â Bucky confessed as he stomped out his cigarette.
Ringo visibly tensed and was berated once again by John, clearly reminding him that no one would ever want him enough to kidnap him.
âIâm here for my girl, she loves you guys a lot.â Bucky took his picture of Y/N out of his wallet and let the boys pass it around amongst themselves.
âWow⌠ sheâs a looker. Youâre real lucky, lad.â Paul patted Bucky on the back,
âActually, Paul, youâre her favorite.â
âReally?â
âDonât try anythinâ Paul. We met the man here in an alleyway. He could beat ya up quicker than any of the lads in Liverpool ever did.â George joked and Paul agreed.
The band stomped out their cigarettes and headed back inside seeing there was about fifteen minutes left until the show.
âHere, mate. For ya girl. Youâll be the best boyfriend in the country.â
Ringo handed Bucky his lighter as the band made their way back inside for their sound check. They left as soon as they came and Bucky was again alone in the alleyway.
Leaning back against the wall, Bucky pinched himself. That couldnât have just happened. He couldnât have just shared smokes with the band. The lighter in his hand was proof enough that the event had actually happened but he couldnât wrap his head around it.
Youâre no better than those groupies inside, idiot.
Bucky chided himself as opened the door back into the venue in a daze.
-
âIâm glad you made it back in time! You had me worried there for a second!â
Y/N laughed as Bucky silently approached her from his smoke break. Sensing something wasnât quite right, she turned her full attention onto her boyfriend. His eyes were squinted, straight ahead and had a bit of blush to his cheeks.
âBuck⌠are you okay? You look a bit pale.â
He remained silent for a while longer, fiddling with something in his hands. Frustrated because she felt like he wasnât paying attention to her, Y/n snatched out whatever was in Buckyâs hands. She inspected the silver lighter that heâd been holding, reading the engravement R.S. on the lid.
âBuck, answer me please-â
âI think I just met the Beatles.â
âWHAT!?!?â

Your father hadnât been happy to hear that Bucky had forgotten to pick you up last week. So unhappy that he had shortened your curfew even more, now making it 7:00 pm instead of 11:00pm. You had tried to negotiate to your father, explaining that Bucky had been studying all night, but he didnât want to hear it.
This new curfew made it practically impossible to really go out at night with Bucky after school or on the weekends. The, now, bulk of your shared time was at school, in between classes or at lunch. Bucky had taken the news surprisingly well. Youâd been convinced that it was going to break him knowing that his father was trying to limit your time alone with him, but the only reaction you got out of Bucky was an understanding nod and a slight smirk. The smirk left you uneasy, knowing what that type of facial expression from your boyfriend means; no good at all.
-
Your Frankie Valli record skipping at itâs end pulled you out of your thoughts and back to the homework that was sprawled out on your bed, waiting for you. You got up and rummaged through your closet until finding the next record of your choice and placed it on the player, laying the needle on the vinyl. You walked back to your work to the calming return of music flooding your room.
Otis Redding always helped you float through your work without too much stress, easing any of your nerves for perfection or time constraints. âTry a Little Tendernessâ began to play in your room, the sounds of the horns forcing you to pause from your work and enjoy the chord progressions.
You walk to your mirror, picking up your hairbrush, and begin singing along with Otis, not having a care in the world. Swaying your hips, you let yourself get taken by the song and its building momentum. Bopping your head, you can feel the peak of the song approaching; your heartbeat rising along with the flow of the song, already knowing the tune inside and out. You really lose it at the climax, not feeling silly at all from your constant flailing. Your hips have a mind of their own at this point, swirling just like Bucky had taught you how. Rubbing your hands down your body, you jump around on your imaginary stage, giving the show of a lifetime to your make-believe crowd.
Just as quickly as the song peaked, the song ended along with the little fantasy it created. You return your brush to its place and fix your hair out of habit, smoothing back behind your ears.
You are about to return to work when you hear what you can only distinguish as a muted snicker. Confused, you open your door, expecting your mother to be the source of the laugh, but your hallway was completely empty. Brows furrowed, your cheeks blush when a knock comes from the other side of your window. Bucky waves and you cover your face in embarrassment before timidly open your window.
âWere you there-â
âThe whole time? Of course⌠Itâs okay baby, I know what Otis Redding does to ya.â
You roll your eyes and are about to ask Bucky what heâs doing hanging out at your window when he unexpectedly climbs through your window and into your room. Flustered, you open your mouth to confront him but see your door still wide open from checking the hallway. You run and quickly close it, feeling just a bit more at ease knowing you two now had a little more privacy. You scowl at Bucky.
âBucky?! What are you doing? You canât be here, itâs past 7:00 pm!â
âI know Doll, I just missed you, thatâs all.â Bucky makes his way towards you and places his hands on your hips. He pulls you close to him and gazes down at you with his bright blue eyes. They looked even brighter in the dim lighting of your room, shining at your presence.
Seeing what he was up to and not wanting to fall into his tricks, you shake your head and successfully push yourself at of his grip.
âBuck! Please... I donât want you getting into anymore trouble.â You say sincerely before attempting to push him back towards your open window.
Bucky smirks at how weak your attempts are at getting him out of your room, knowing you donât really want him to leave. He doesnât move an inch despite your pushing and attempts of guiding him back to the window.
âWhat, youâve got something youâd rather do than be with me?â he asks playfully.
You stand your ground and cross your arms.
âActually, yes.â
Bucky quirks his eyebrow questiongly.
âI was just studying for the History test this Monday and Iâd love to get back to it. You know how I get when Iâm testing and under pressure⌠I need more practiceâ
Bucky takes a step closer to you and you take a step back in return, not wanting to be in close proximity to him, knowing how easily you crumble when Buckyâs like this.
âPractice under pressure? Baby, I can help you study and release some of this tension of yoursâŚâ
âBuck, Iâm serious, I just really need to focus-â
âI can get you to focus, angelâŚ.â
âI donât-â
The feeling of your closet door stops you from continuing your rebuttal, knowing there was no escape from Bucky now. His blue eyes stare back at yours and you can feel the air catch in your throat. Even though you had kissed him countless times before, you could never get used to the feeling of him being this close to you.
He takes another step closer, now completely caging you in, placing his hand just above your head. He lowers his head into your neck and you shiver at the feeling of his breath against your neck.
âBuck...â you whisper meekly, not knowing what the purpose of it was, to urge him on or to ask him to stop. Your brain can function properly with him this close to you.
He shushes you and rubs his nose from the bottom of your neck to where your neck and chin meet, just staying there for a beat. You shudder, not knowing how to deal with the intensity of the moment. He places a soft kiss under your chin and runs his lips up to your ear. Your eyes flutter closed, releasing the sigh that has been trapped in your throat for whatâs felt like an eternity.
âThe test is on WWI, right?â
He nibbles on your ear and a warmth pools in your stomach. Barely registering his question, you weakly nod, wanting nothing more than to drop the studying and continue whatever this was.
He pulls away and you whine from the distance heâs created between the two of you. He chuckles in response and leans forward just enough so that you both are practically are breathing the same air but your lips arenât touching.
You try to lean in to kiss him but he pulls away and grabs both of your hands and puts them above your head. The fire that was once in your belly has now moved between your thighs and your try to rub them together to gain some relief. Buckyâs eyes darken at your squirming.
âNow that your distracted⌠who shot Franz Ferdinand?â
Your eyes fly open and your eyebrows furrow. You have the name on the tip of your tongue but just as your about to answer, Bucky begins kissing your neck, still holding your arms above your head. Your brain instantly turns to mush and you lose your train of thought completely, getting completely lost in Bucky. You moan at Buckyâs actions, not knowing what to do with yourself.
He runs his lips over yours once again and sigh, convinced that Bucky will finally give you that kiss that youâve been craving. He pulls back again and you throw your head back in frustration.
âI need an answer, dollâŚâ
âBucky⌠baby pleaseâ you moan, never feeling this hot in your life.
âThis is practicing under pressure, angel... â he whispers, not getting close enough to give you satisfaction but near enough to keep your head spinning.
Youâre about to try to answer Buckyâs question when you hear your mother begin to call for you. Hearing the nearing steps, your eyes flew open and the daze that Bucky had put you into has disappeared.
âShit! Shit, shit, Shit!â You look around your room, trying to find a place to hide Bucky, knowing if your mom found him in your room with the state your in, sheâd drop dead to the floor. Her footsteps sound like a ticking time bomb as you rush around your room, searching for Buckyâs hiding place. Dragging Bucky to the closet, you through him in and close the door just as your mother comes in.
âY/N, I was wondering if you had any laundry- dear, are you okay?â
You nod at your mother and smile, trying to act as normal as possible as she eyes you up and down. She continues her inspection as she walks around your room and picks up what she deems as dirty clothing and throws them in her basket.
As soon as she turns her back, you rush to your mirror and try to smooth your hair and lessen the reddening in your cheeks as much as possible. âDo you still need that dress of yours washed?â Not really paying attention, still to invested in repairing your appearance, you say yes and continue your work in your mirror before your brain catches up to the situation.
Your dress is in the closet, you IDIOT!
Eyes bulging, you dive towards your closet, stumbling but successfully putting yourself between your closet and your mother.
âActually, Peggy borrowed it last weekend, sorry MaâŚâ You rub your neck awkwardly, hoping your mother believes your poor excuse. She eyes you once again, more intensely this time as she makes her way to your door.
âKids are so strange these days,â she sighs under her breath as she makes her exit and leaves her room. You feel like a weight lifted from your chest as you sigh in relief. Buckyâs head pops out of the closet and cheekily smiles at you apologetically.
âNever again.â You scowl at your boyfriend who always has to bring a little bit of scandal into your life. You walk back towards your bed to go back to actually studying for your test, not giving your boyfriend a second glance.
âAwe, come on dollâŚâ
âNever again!â
You try to stay serious, but both you and Bucky crack smiles at each other, knowing that this would definitely be happening again.
