I hate how people look at me when I show physical affection at all to my friends. If said friend is femme or femme looking, they look at us and ask how long we've been together for or if we are together or something like that and if they are masc well they look at us like we are gross or say something like I support you. Am I not allowed to hold hands or hug my friends? Does my showing love for platonic people in my life erk you that much or seem so out of the question that someone one would do that your first assumption is we must be together or even worse that we must be having sex.
I want people to understand that there are many types of relationships like platonic, romantic, and sexual. There are others too, but I'd like to stick with those three for now since they are the ones most people can understand.
Most people assume sex is a part of romantic relationships, but it is its own thing. People have sex without being in a relationship all the time and no one thinks twice on it as long as its straight or straight passing.
Romantic relationships can but don't always include sex and people normally see them as love and kisses and sex and hugs and physical affections things like that.
Platonic relationships are what people consider friendships and often times are seen as less than either of the other two, I've even had experiences where people will consider a one-night stand over a friendship or plans with their friends.
I guess the point of this post as long as it is, is that I don't like when people behave like platonic relationships are less important than romantic or even sexual. I love my friends so much and whereas I'm not currently in a romantic relationship when I am I love my partner is a different way not less than platonic relationships and not more just a different type of love.
The only people who are allowed to decide which of my relationships is more important than another is me and the person in that relationship with me. There are no set lines to what can be platonic or romantic it's whatever you and the person you are in a relationship with decided to call it. If you wanted you could hug, kiss, or even have sex with your platonic friends and if the people involved decide hey this is completely platonic then that's what it is and there shouldn't be judgement and on that same note you could have a romantic relationship where you don't have sex or even kiss and if you and your partner/s say that it's a romantic relationship then that's what it is, there is no reason for anyone to argue boundaries of types of relationships especially if they aren't a part of that relationship
Sorry for the little rant on relationships people may have been pissing me off about them recently and I wanted to rant somewhere
