Well it seems Legion is out. Time to rampage across the battlefield as an agent of carnage and destruction once again! I’ve got everything I need. An endless supply of rage? Check. Two comically large greatswords? Check! A field of foes that have recently offended me with their very existence? CHECK!!!
One problem: when did Fury Warriors become sobbing children mid temper tantrum? I mean, I go in and rage against my chosen enemies... and then I burn out. I’m done. They may or may not be dead but my health is dropping like a stone and I have no seeming way to fix it. I hammer my trusty macro that should fire off Victory Rush and I don’t see any healing coming my way. I check my spellbook and quickly click on Enraged Regeneration, expecting that wonderful flood of health... and nothing.
And then I take a moment to evaluate what I’m doing.
I discard my old hotbar, the abilities are too different after changes anyway. No big deal. This sort of thing happens.
Ok, seems I build rage like an overzealous hockey player. That’s good. I have this cool Rampage ability to spend it on instead of Heroic Strike. Also good. I look forward to using that.
Where’s my ‘don’t die’ button... hrm... Enraged Regeneration just offers a brief (8 second) reduction to damage and increases the healing done by Bloodthirst by an additional 20% or my HP. Oh, that’s neat. What does Bloodthirst heal for?
...4% Ok that’s not so bad really, I can use it often. And with Enraged Regen up I’m basically healing half my total HP per use of the cooldown. As long as I stack enough haste to get 2 off. Shouldn’t be hard, Haste is the new Crit for Fury.
Anyway, that’s all well and good, where’s the REAL stuff. Where’s my new shiny Victory Rush replacement? Where’s the meat! Where’s the ‘drink the blood and gore of my enemies to restore health between fights’ ability?
............. YOU MEAN TO TELL ME OUTLAW ROGUES GET CRIMSON VIAL AND WE GET NOTHING!? NOTHING????
Where is my endless field of battle? Where is my stream of rampant murder??
.... deep breaths. Calm. I see what they’re doing here. They’re offering a balance. Outlaw Rogues don’t deal the raw unbridled power that I do. They need Crimson Vial to keep them alive so the players can actually kill the enemies. Right? (No, they’re damn good! Crimson Vial is icing on the cake that I’d be sad to see go from their kit, it’s fucking amazing!)
Anyway, I see what they’re doing here. Really. I think. Fury Warriors are a prime example of returning to the way WoW used to be in Vanilla. They want us to carry bandages and food so we can keep playing. They want to go away from the arcade-y action packed feel WoW had been slipping toward. I think.
But don’t worry, I wouldn’t give you this rant without offering a realistic and fun solution to the problem I’ve pointed out.
There are 2 options (No one plays Arms. Fuck Arms)
If you want to play a warrior who can wade into battle against an army of demons and come out bloody and satisfied? Play a Protection Warrior and take a close look at that Focused Rage ability and all those talents that buff Shield Slam. Seriously. Do it. Miss Gladiator Warrior? It’s there, hidden away. It kicks ass.
If you want to play a warrior who can do all of the above but uses two swords? Roll an Outlaw Rogue, put the Pirates of the Carribean theme on full blast, and drink your Crimson Vial.
